The Walmart Supercenters are now winning, for one reason: self‑checkout. It's honestly the whole trip. I scan everything in the Walmart app then through the special checkout area that's usually closed off w/yellow take for "normal" shoppers. But with my little VIP status? I just roll up flash the barcode at the kiosk, roll out. Pure Bliss. We dont need no sticking lines..exactly like Sam's Club -- no lines, no waiting, no forced small talk with regular people.... I value my time,convenience and minimal human interaction, it doesn't get any better. I came here for baseball cards.So the picture below is walmart being sold out again.Anyway, you should know what a walmart looks like, i've taken enough pictures here... The store itself is usually clean, organized, The parking lot's usually not bad either, which says a lot for this Walmart as its considered one of the worst in Bakersfield(you better ask somebody). Every time I walk into a Walmart, I brace myself for the same challenge, finding help feels like a game of hide and seek with no winner. This visit was no different. I stood by the liquor cabinet for 22 minutes waiting for assistance. Kept asking one guy, and every time he'd say he was going to grab someone. Plot twist, turns out.. he was the someone. If you are looking to buy a gift from Walmart for someone you should stop and go to another store. Beware! My daughter was gifted a bike helmet for her birthday that did not fit her. So we took it to this Walmart to return it. We were told without a receipt it had to be equal or more value. We'll guess what. The larger helmets are ALL less price. We settled on a helmet, picked up some safety pads, and lights and went to return desk where we were told nope.... helmet must be same price or more expensive. Impossible as they dont sell this.... I had a helmet and 2 more items which would have easily been an additional 40 dollar sell but they refused. Asked to speak to a manager enter Daniella.... explained to her no where does it say this on their written policy to which she replies "manager discretion". Im so confused as to why a manager wouldn't understand that the item is being returned because it doesnt fit and its for my child's safety. A helmet isnt like returning a shirt that doesnt fit and style is in question, or we dont like the color, Its the ONLY helmet your store had to replace what we were returning. A gift my 9 year old recieved for her birthday turned into a nightmare situation because a manager decided her safety, our additional purchases and good customer service wasnt her priority, at least in regards to us. read more

This is a great Walmart. The prices are competitive and I can pickup my groceries at a certain time. Sometimes there is a wait at the pick-up, but our orders are accurate. It is busy, but they do a great job given the volume. I have also had a good experiences with the vision center and the deli. read more

One time me and my grandmother had asked the front door clerk for the mobile carts for disabled people and such, the man said it was dead, as we walked away, we AUDIBLY heard him say to another clerk "She doesn't need this." EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOOK DISABLED TO BE DISABLED!! My grandmother has a lower back injury from her working years THAT HAS STAYED WITH HER EVER SINCE!! We had even tried to return a 50 inch tv that we had bought BECAUSE IT WASN'T THE SIZE WE ASKED FOR WHEN WE BOUGHT IT, AND WHEN WE OPENED THE TV BOX THE TV WAS **BROKEN**!!! They claimed they did not see us on the day we had came in and purchased the tv, and tried to say there was no footage of us walking in. One of the employees even admitted to us that they KICK ITEMS AND THROW THEM AROUND IN THE BACK!! I even witnessed as a eejit harassed an elderly woman verbally and staff made no move, he did it LOUDLY AND CLEARLY BY THINE WAY. A nd a fight happened in the clothing section. The stores nice but to be honest the prices arent. The "Great Value" Brand they have isnt as great either. Sometimes while comparing prices the Great Value Branded items will be MORE expensive, which I think is bonkers. Not to mention one of my favorite things about the store was changed. The type of Weenie used for their hotdogs in their hot foods was changed and while that doesnt seem grand TO ME IT IS. Completely unaware to the sudden change I bought a hotdog. The Walmart located at 2601 Fashion Pl, Bakersfield, CA 93306 is the absolute worst Walmart I've ever experienced. I'm 36 years old. I've lived in seven different states and shopped in Walmarts in all of those states over the past 30 years. My experience at Fashion Place has been consistently terrible. There are never any shopping carts available for customers. I have learned to hunt for a cart in the parking lot knowing there won't be any in the store. Once I get inside the store many of the items on the shelves have already expired. It seems that all of the employees are racing around the store fulfilling online orders. Meanwhile, the lines for the checkout are always exorbitantly long. They don't have enough employees checking people out. There is no self-check out. And God forbid that you want a bottle of lube. You have to ask someone to put it in a clear plastic box, take it to the front, and then remember to ask your checkout attendant to go hunt for it. Ten minutes later they come back while the entire line is growling at you for taking so long. Embarrassing The employees seem anxious and stressed as they race around the store fulfilling online orders. Growing up, if I asked a Walmart employee where something was located, they would walk me to the exact location, stay with me until we found it together, and then ask, "Can I help you with anything else?" Now, if you ask an employee for help, they shrug and say, "Try aisle 17," and then race off to continue fulfilling their online orders. I feel like I am competing with the employees to find the items I want. The main aisle between the food section and the pharmacy section is over crowded with products blocking the way. It's a total traffic jam getting around. I have to peek around the corner before pushing my cart onto that thoroughfare to avoid crashing into someone else's cart. I've never enjoyed the music in the store. Do they even play music? It's a miserable experience. Walmart should replace the entire management at that store and start over. It has a culture of apathy, incompetence, and anxiety. read more

I was at the super center on rosdale hwy, I had gone in to find a good age defying makeup. I was having a hard time finding what exactly I needed. I beautiful young lady named Sam quickly asked me if she could help me? She showed me what would probably work for me, I also asked her for a good eyeliner, she wasted no time in finding me exactly what I was looking for. I love everything she sold me. I have never in my life had that kind of service from Walmart. I called the store to let the manager know if her impeccable service, however nobody answered, I also called human recorces no answer. I called three days in a row, no answer. So I really would like Walmart to recognize her, she's a diamond in the rough. Lady's if you're looking for help in the cosmetics department ask for SAM! I have gone to East Hills Wal Mart a couple of times and I have to say that I have no complaints. Might be because I love any WM. My sister was able to get a motorized cart to use and, needless to say, we spent some time here. We had a list and was able to locate all the items we were looking for. If we needed help, a sales clerk was able to help us get to the right spot. I normally use self-check out and these visits a line was open and checkout was a breeze. My mom puts her orders in online and they deliver to her with very few substitutions, if any. read more

I was told to come two hours after my scheduled time which I did, then when I got here I've been waiting for over an hour, I asked him associate how much longer and he said it could be up to two hour wait. My gosh, the WORST Walmart I've ever been to. Not only is it always crowded and the lines are miles long, people vape in the store, people come in reeking of marijuana, and the customer service is just not anything to rave about, they always seem upset and hesitant to help you. I have been to many Walmarts, in different states too, but none of them compare to how poorly this one is ran and treated. I'm a senior citizen, and handicapped. I went to Walmart to pick up two things and waited 25 minutes in line (they only had three registers open, and one of those was in cosmetics). They had at least 10 people in each line. As I was leaving, I walked down to the west door, and was told after I got there if that door was closed and I could not go out that door (it was the door that I came into the store through and my car was parked in the handicap spot just outside the door). I've had some good experiences at the store in the past, but customer service has really taken a dive. Oh, and the ads that say whenever there are three people in line they will open up another register, do not believe them at the store. I have never seen that happen in more than 20 trips. read more

This has to be the worse Walmart I've been to. NObody was helpful. As I was walking through the store trying to find items people either ignored me or rushed to give me an answer. I understand you were busy but Customer Service is so important. There was only one girl that stopped to help me find my Insta pot. She was pretty nice. When I went over to the pharmacy as I waited in line I asked how do I get into this glass door? The lady told me that they did not have a key and that I would have to wait. So I waited for about 10-15 minutes for someone to come and help me. And as he was walking up one of her coworkers walked up before him with a key in her hand to open the glass door for someone else. So one I was lied to and then when I try to ask why I was I lied to they all gave me a nonchalant bad attitude. They tried to dismiss me and act like I was overreacting. So, I go in here looking for some clamps to use in my woodworking. Found four at a reasonable price. I also needed some shampoo. Walked around in circles in the hair care aisle, around the soap, lotions, vitamins, the whole area. Finally saw something promising high up on a shelf above another aisle. Yeah, they have SHAMPOO in the cosmetics area, where you basically have to make a separate trip into the store, because it has it's own register, and you can't take your cart in there. You also can't pay for stuff from the rest of the store at that register. It also has a line a mile long. Ok, no shampoo. I do need some broccoli to go with dinner tonight, though. Three trips around the produce department, didn't see anything. So I asked the guy putting apples out. He couldn't find it either. That's right, folks. A SUPERMARKET produce section, with no broccoli. "We have some in the freezer section,..." No, I don't think so. THEN the guy at the door, who just saw me walk away from a cash register, tries to grab the receipt out of my hand as I walk by smiling at him. "I need to check your receipt." "No, thanks. I already checked it, it's just fine." You don't have to stand in line like cattle and show them your receipt. Just say no. read more

Wow! Huge store! Neat and clean. Based on the architecture I'd say it's a rather new store. They have really good selections within the departments. I was in town for work so I stopped in to see what Pioneer Woman items were available. There was quite a lot to choose from. They had individual pieces or full sets in the Vintage Floral design my daughter collects. Score! It is cheaper to buy the four serving set if you're just starting out. When I went to check out it was very quick. They have 23 check stands there. Only about half were open, but 23! As Walmart's go, this one was really nice. read more

This Walmart was actually better than the ones in Los Angeles. I came here to buy diapers for my son because we didn't take enough. We ended buying half of all their merchandise. They have a huge parking lot and we found a spot near the entrance. They had plenty of carts at the entrance and the ones for handicapped as well. We noticed they had a lot of items on clearance. They had very inexpensive merchandise all over the store. We looked everywhere and bought something from each section. It was hard to resist with the prices so low. The store was still a mess in some sections, but I did notice employees trying to pick up and trying to organize them again. Something I don't see here in LA. I was pretty impressed because when I got to the baby section everything was organized. I am serious. There was this lady hanging all the clothes and putting new ones. I asked her for a certain brand for baby clothes and she helped me right away. She took me and showed me all the ones they had. She said they had more, but they were putting out new merchandise. She even went back and asked me if I had found what I was looking for. I have never ever been treated so nice by a Walmart employee. Sadly, I didn't get her name. I was dreading to head to the register lines. When we got to the registers I noticed there was one without a line. I was thinking they forgot to turn of the light, but checked it out anyways. There was a cashier there! I was so excited. I was going to pay and leave. She helped us out and made a conversation. She was actually nice too.
