So I love this store for its location and the fact that it's typically not busy and the isles are nice and wide not like the Walmart grocery stores. I like to get my beer here at they always have good inventory and reasonable prices, much cheaper than the beer caves at the local liquor stores. They also have a fresh Bakery which smells delicious, as well as a deli counter and rotisserie chickens ready to go. This store has it all from frying pans to propane tanks. The only issue I have is they never have enough people working the registers, but they will call for help when it backs up. Customer service is the backbone to every business, some will pay more for upgraded customer service! read more

Come to find out they didn't have the XLT chili block that I was looking for. I thought I'd do a little bit of shopping, but I noticed the prices. The prices here at Savemart were outrageously high to some of the markets I had just been to while looking for this chili block. Employees were friendly. Everything was nice except the prices. Great neighborhood grocery market. Nice selection, usually great service with friendly employees. Bright and clean, it's all in all a good place to shop. "Save mart" there's nothing about that market that allows you to save money. They are charging almost 5$ for a 1lbs of Roma tomatoes!! I went in and got tomatoes, 2 onions, 6 tomatillos, 2 jalapeños, one garlic head, 3 limes and pack of pasta noodles, chips and 2 12oz sodas. They nearly almost charged me 50$ for what I can get at any other market for less than 25$. I don't get how it went up to 50$. Avoid this market at all costs. I'm still a big fan of Save Mart. They are truly your neighborhood market. Want fresh baked bread? Just contact their bakery the day before and they'll have whatever you want ready the next day! During the holidays, Save Mart kills it with the prices for pumpkins and fresh Christmas trees. In the summers, their specialty pots and outdoor finds are a great buy! Some of the alcohol (looking at you Kahlua) is about 30% more than other stores. Definitely use that Save Mart rewards and you'll knock it down to ALMOST the same price at BevMo. Save Mart is a lovely, clean and well maintained store. There are pretty murals of Kern County surrounding the store. The checkers are pleasant. The produce section is beautiful with a great selection of fresh vegetables & fruits. The fresh seafood looks a little dry with a faint Oder of fish. The meat section looks fresh & well stocked. It is a large well stocked store. The name is a bit misleading, I thought the pricing would be lower. But for the occasional sales there doesn't appear to be any difference in price from most of the grocery stores in town. read more

I will purposely drive out of my way to avoid shopping at Save Mart ever again. 100% lost my business. I would typically shop there for beer as they have a good selection. Tonight I see two 12pk of Firestone Walker Mind Haze IPA on the floor with SALE sign that Firestone 12pk $17.99. I thought oh that's awesome I'll get some, that's a great price for that beer. It often goes on sale or they are trying to push it like a buy 2 get them at a lesser price type deal so I didn't think anything of it. Finished grabbing some other snacks before heading to the register. I get rung up at the register, price is $21.99. I say whoa, the sign on the box I found this 12pk says $17.99. The cashier was confused and just repeated what's on the screen and asked if I wanted a prices check. I said yes, I'll go take a picture myself. He says no that's alright and sends another cashier to it. She comes back with the sign in hand and a picture of the price tag on the shelf. Shelf price was $21.99, I say so what's with the sign she says oh that was for a different product sorry, would you like to get another box the price will be $14.99/12pk if you get two. I ish I would have taken a photo of it to attach here before heading to the register but who does that? Maybe I will from now on. Anyway there was a line and me being me I declined and regrettably just paid for the items. I should have just walked out and decided the transaction as not only was that service shitty but so is putting a sign up on a product of the same manufacturer with a different price. I hate this place with a fervert passion. I've tried to like it. I've tried to write off the situations that have occurred when I am forced to come here. My husband loves their deli, but when we come, they always have attitude and the case of chicken NO MATTER what time you come has old chicken, and you have to ask for it to be fried. Well, today, I came in a hurry and asked for what was in the case due to time constraints. I was told by the employee that I could not have any in the case because he'd be adding it to a phone order, so I had to wait for new chicken. I said interesting because for the dinner rush, you would think they would fry more, but nope, sure, didn't. So, I watched the individual who had the phone order who got ALL fresh chicken. The employee, after telling me I had to wait 20 minutes for fresh, then offered me what was in the case. I refused. I said nope you've already made me wait for over 15 minutes and refused to sell me what's in the case, so you can fry up the 8 pieces I asked for. (So, apparently, it wasn't put in the frier when he said he did). Also, I know I look white, but when you talk shit you should probably just go ahead and do it in English. I may not speak Spanish fluently, but I do understand it. Also, it isn't my responsibility to know Spanish. I am always professional and work with my Spanish speakers, but the fact that you're looking at me like I need to know how to speak your language when I don't is mind-blowing. I recently started shopping at Save Mart. This is really a nice grocery store. They have a nice bakery and deli with hot food. The aisles are wide and very clean. I have found items at Save Mart that I have not found in other local grocery stores. For instance in the meat dept they have meals in a bag that you can buy for $6.00 that cook in four and a half minutes. They also carry Walden Farms calorie free products. So far I have tried the pork loin and the shrimp dinner and the chicken dinner. The meals cook up beautifully in about four minutes and they are delicious. Break out of your mold and try Save Mart. Very rude service from one of the cashiers. This was a short heavy set hispanic lady with short hair. They had Kleenex advertised on the shelf for 3 boxes for $4.30. I took three boxes to the checkout stand. This lady berated me for having three. said there is a limit of two. There was no sign about a limit, the advertising was based on purchases of three. This lady was very bitchy to me. I avoid her work station when I pay now. Some people are not cut out for dealing with the public. My SO also has a soft spot for the extra hot flaming Cheetos, which they don't carry at our usual store (sup Sprouts!), but they do have them here! Their produce is pricey and their organics are overpriced. What makes this place okay to shop at is how GREAT the employees are! The dude in produce is always so kind, some of the cashiers have worked there since I was a kid, and they're all just so dang sweet. I've never had a bad customer service experience here. This was my second time in the store and it was pleasant, clean but best of all not busy. I found the item I was looking for and went to the only register that was open. There was a gentleman ahead of me making a purchase and an elderly lady got in line in back of me. The gentleman ahead of me was having trouble with his debit or credit card and the cashier along with whom I assumed was the bag boy were both doing all they could to get the card to work. After what seemed like 15 minutes I was getting a little impatient when all of a sudden the bag boy flew to the register next to us so quickly I thought his head might be spinning to check out this bouncy young lady with a blond pony tail heading to the end of our line. I was flabbergasted and told him you should be taking the person next in line. The elderly lady was heading to his register and said please go ahead of me and I said no that's ok. I am writing this review because of a embarrassing and horrible experience I had at this location. This store is the only market I shop at for my groceries but now i will never shop here again. I was getting groceries for my family and noticed a creepy old man ( employee ) that was lurking down isles and watching me the whole time I was in the store. I found it odd and uncomfortable and when I reached the produce isle is when I realized the employees thought I was going to steal my groceries. I looked over and there was 3 employees blocking Tbe door and Staring at me in a very accusatory manner. When I went to go check out, I had mentioned something to the cashier about it and she confirmed that is 100% what they were doing. When I had left the store and called the manager, she said that people of all walks of life come in there and steal, and that's why they were staring at me. I have never had anything like this happened to me and management and employees should not make the customers feel like they are criminals.The prices here are a little high, but I don't mind paying the extra money because This store is very close to my house and it's super convenient. I went to the deli just the other day to grab some wings and also some wedges. No one was out front of the deli and I waited for someone to come out from the back. The first person that came out had a bowl of chicken wings and looked at me as if I was bothering her. Those wings are for customers, and... I'm a customer. I recently moved to Rosedale a couple months ago and have gone to this store a few times. This store is homophobic. The first time I went to this store was with my wife and the stares and dirty looks we got was astounding both from customers and the people who worked there. No one greeted us or anything. The second time my wife went alone and the same thing happened . The last time I went by myself too see if this would happen to me since I'm not obvious just by looking at me. The customers and people shopping did not do anything of those things, I was actually greeted and asked how my day had been going by the produce guy. I will never shop here again because of this. I can't believe that in 2018 this would still be going on, definitely would think at least the people who work here would be more grown up than that. Usually, I would speak highly of this Save Mart. The employees I have encountered were friendly and helpful. In addition, this store is just a gem. However, they recently displayed signs at the entrances regarding Governor Newsom's mandate to wear masks in public, yet there are people with no masks entering and exiting the store. Though it's only been a couple days, the employees at this location should strictly enforce the mask requirement for the safety of others grocery shopping and to follow the governor's instruction, of course. This is my warning to those who are especially more wary about Covid-19. I received an add in the mail going over how impressive their meat department is. Unfortunately the meat is not very good. I couldnt find steaks with good Marbling, so I knew it wasnt going to be very tasty. The price was actually not that competitive even though ti was on sale. Also I was disappointed that there was not a meat counter. Store was easily laid out, not all that fancy. Customer service was there, if I needed it. What can a person say about a very standard supermarket? Parking is ample, though shade is somewhat lacking (an issue in Bakersfield in the summertime). There is no membership club with any Save Mart, which is nice, so you don't have to give out personal info or carry a little barcode on your keychain, Otherwise, I guess my only issue is that the layout of this particular Save Mart is a hair less than intuitive, with a great deal of food wedged deep in the "back left" corner of the market. This store was really big it seem to have everything but I went in because I got a new neighbor welcoming coupon. I got a free rotisserie chicken a free case of waters and a free carton of eggs. It was great because I didn't have to purchase anything to get these items. "No catch". I did notice they had an organic section and a gluten-free section so I will be back if I am ever in that area. It's a little bit of a drive for me but if I'm going to save money with suture coupons I will make sure that I shop there. :) read more

First off they have the best beer selection around. The guy who runs that department is a beer lover. He has/had a facebook page dedicated to beer. The store itself is my stop to pick up one thing i forgot. There name is ironic since you don't actually save money. You pay way more. There are 4 other stores in a 2 mile radius and this is the most expensive one. 99% of the time I have been in there, only 2 lanes are open and usually 3 deep at each one. So this store is not super busy and never have seen it that way either. I wonder how they stay open. Must be the prices because they are in a very high rent area. For many years this was the closest grocery school to my school and was therefor quite convenient to run to on my lunch hour or if I needed to pick something up last minute. I've been going here so long that when I started, it was either a Ralph's or a Lucky's (I know, that dates me). This is no longer the closest store to work, but I still find myself visiting here quite often. Why? I suppose it could be the produce section full of fresh ripe fruits and vegetables which is marketed beautifully and looks colorful and bright. I've never bought anything here that was overripe or that spoiled quickly and the prices are very reasonable. The sign says PRODUCE GARDENS and it is a garden of sight and smell, with a big open airy feel. Or maybe it is the deli department with plenty of Need entertainment options for the evening? Peruse the selections available at the two red box machines inside. Other grocery stores have the red box machines outside. As a female, I like that I can stand inside with good lighting and feel safe while pondering what kids of movie mood I'm in. And the store is open until midnight every night so even if choosing a movie was a last minute thought I still have options. Is your carpet getting a bit dingy? Try renting one of the rug doctor rental machines. I've done it. They aren't horribly expensive and you can buy all the cleaning supplies that go in them right here at the store. How convenient is that? You can always buy a gallon of ice cream when you return it, you know, as a little reward for all that work you just did! I hear the liquor department is quite well stocked with a variety of tasty craft beers. Of course, I wouldn't know QNY of this from personal experience (wink wink). Okay, I admit it. I HAVE the personal experience and the selection is good. Just don't tell anybody, ok? It'll be our little secret. My wife and I would drive past this place and never stopped in because it looked like one of those supermarkets that made you bag your own groceries, only sold day-old bread, and never heard of organic produce. Seriously. When you see a grocery with a sign that says, "Save Mart" in the smallest, the most generic font imaginable, do you think of top-shelf produce? Don't lie... you don't, do you? Names of top-shelf grocery stores that were appropriately named: Randall's flagship, Kroger signature, Garden of Eden, Ralph's Fresh Fair... each one with a magnificently gaudy font that conjures images of some old farmer hand picking each fruit and wrapping it carefully to ensure absolute freshness. Now think of "Save Mart." Yeah... thought so. Anyways, we stopped in because we had to get something random like potato chips or something. The instant we set foot inside, we were amazed at how spectacular this grocery store is. Perhaps it was the initial shock of low expectations, but it was very pleasant. This supermarket is a hidden gem. I feel like not a lot of people come here unless they live nearby, because it's a bit out of the way from the major centers of town. It's never crowded, it's well stocked, and employees are friendly. The one drawback is that prices aren't great, but I'm willing to pay a bit extra to not have to deal with the crowds at the Walmart Neighborhood Market down the street. So close to home, I wonder why we had not been here before! Hubby did some weird method to find out on line who carried some Silk Soy creamer for his coffee. So, we ended up here! The store is a bit older, can tell by the floor design but it was very clean. Props to the friendly seafood guy too. The selection of product was good and we walked out with several things even though we had already done our shopping elsewhere for the week. Could not be helped! It was not nearly as busy as Vons today and it almost had a relaxed vibe to it on a Sunday afternoon. I found the prices to be comparable to anywhere else (except Winco). With only 2 cashes open at the check out, it was starting to get quite lined up.
