I feel dirty just thinking about it. I almost don't even know where to begin. Other than to say, scary, scary place. From the empty shelves, which remind me of a post apocalyptic free for all, to the one eyed man out front of the store who was trying to solicit unlicensed cab rides... Speaking of cabs, they won't pick you up here. So if for some reason your car breaks down and you need a way out, good luck cause it's public transportation or bust. oh my goodness.....let me start by saying that customer service is horrible. Honestly, you ask them something and they just act dumb. Their like "uhhh" some of them also have gum in their mouths while you are speaking to them. You know I get it, if your new thats fine just say hey Im new I do not really know what is where yet. Then I would understand but if you looking around knowing where things are but your acting dumb thats gonna make me upset. Especially with this virus. Sadly, I have Walmart in my blood. My mom has worked for Walmart in S. IL for quite some time. Do I like it? NOPE. Is it her only option due to...well it being S. IL? YEP. This place only deserves 1 star but I'm feeling kind hearted today. I've actually been here 3 times and each time it's a rat race inside. The aisles are cluttered and the staff is everywhere working hard to keep up with the rude shoppers that throw things about. Again...it's Walmart. this review is for the Pharmacy only, not the store itself. Well since Target (Elston St.) claim they didn't have my meds, I came here. I was expecting the worse service ever in my life, living in this godforsaken city. Parking was decent, not like Target, was greeted twice upon entering WalMart, not like Target. There was a line at Meds Drop Off, OK i didn't expect that. Since their is never a line at Target. The wonderful young lady behind the counter was a pleasant well educated person who spoke in a pleasant manner. WOW!! If I could give this place 0 stars I would... listen I've been going to that same Walmart for more than 17 years but yesterday was my last time... this Walmart has always been nasty and unorganized, everything is scattered around the store not to mention most of the items don't have scan bars. While I was in line waiting to pay for my items the cashier ( Christine ) pulls up a pair of shoes and says it doesn't have a tag, she makes my sister go get another pair just so she could kick us out of the fucking line and go through. If Jewel and Target had a baby, it would be this Walmart. Totally revamped. New. Clean. ORGANIZED. Fully stocked. I swear, even the Employees seem happier (the one I talked to admittedly was). Fresh produce. Frozen foods. Meats. A Deli. Walmart prices. I usually go 1x a year and stock up on cleaning supplies, but I may just have to go more often. When I go to Walmart I know not to expect much, but this Walmart just goes to another level. Every time I go things are never in stock. Line are always long, cashiers are slow, but they're nice for the most part so I won't complain about that. It is complete waste of my time to go into this place with a full list. They are ALWAYS out of stock of at least half of the items I need. I'm talking about basic items, body wash, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, DISH SOAP FOR CRYING OUT LOAD!!! The produce is disgusting, the tomatoes have had gnats in them on several occasions, the onions have been moldy and its just gross. Crowded is an understatement. Your lucky if you even get a parking spot or a cart and lets not forget to mention the lack of organization. I know, I know shopping at Walmart is a no no for so many reasons. This Wally world happened to be the closest one to where I live. I only went here for cheap blankets/throws for my dog so he can be comfy in his crate! I found a cheap fleece blanket for $3 and a micro fleece blanket for $7.74! Score! Now on to the horrible lack of customer service (could not get anyone to answer my questions because they were busy talking amongst themselves) and how extremely filthy and disorganized the store was (thick slimy green stuff all over the floor that looked like predator had puked and clothes strewn about the aisles) and how scary looking many of the patrons were...HOLY HELL. It looked as if zombies were out shopping with their night of the dead families. EEK. I seriously do not know if I will ever return to this location due to how unsafe I felt out in the parking lot. People were out there chillin, cat calling the ladies, and had their stereo systems bumping for all to hear like it was a swap meet. I was followed by an undesirable back to my car even though I said several times I simply was not interested and that I was married with 16 children!! He still seemed determined after I said that! Their vision center is terrible , stay away ! I ordered a 250 pair of glasses lenses and they completely ruined it. They made it too small and they tried to shrink my ray bans around them, ultimately disfiguring the frame The lenses had severe visual issues that it made me nauseous and i wanted to vomit after i put them on. I went and complained only to receive the "sir it must be your prescription " answer. I went to another vision center and this is what they said, the lenses were too small, there is a wave like cut to the lens which distorted the image and the lenses were improperly aligned in the frames leaving big gaps. OK so living downtown does not have its perks like 8.00 for a four pack of toilet paper so I hitch a ride with a friend up to WalMart. I love Target but figured hey times are hard for everyone and I need new Christmas ornaments. I obviously didn't know what to expect. I felt like I walked into Ghettopalooza. WTF???? Kids running around without their parents, no one around to ask questions, people yelling at each other across aisles, and the cashier...what can I say about her? Most things weren't stocked, or put in the proper place and when I did finally find what I wanted there where no prices marked on the shelves or items which was extremely annoying considering that finding any employee was almost impossible especially one that could actually help you. This is the worst Walmart I have ever been to! It is the closest one to my house but I would rather drive 10 extra miles to go to another one. Poor customer service. The employees don't greet, don't offer help. The store is a mess, unorganized. Long check out lines. But employees just standing around chit-chatting amongst themselves? Attitude, attitude, attitude!!! I am so disgusted by people who are working at stores - especially teenagers (when I was a teenager, it was a privilege to be able to work). There is attitude from the moment you get sort of greeted all through the store until you try to get out of the parking lot which is blocked by two vendors who are desperately trying to get you to buy their stuff, blocking your way in and out. Wowsa! Yes I did just give this Walmart 3 stars! I just finished reading the bad reviews that this particular Walmart has received, and I am seriously wondering if I was in the same store, or if I just have a really thick skin. I think that I have lied to myself, my husband, and fellow Yelpers time and time again, that never again would I step foot in a Walmart. I'm not a fan of their employment practices, etc. etc...but in these economic times..it's every man for him or herself. My reviews of 3 or 4 different Walmarts clearly show that my word means nothing when it comes to shopping and saving money. I've been exploring different parts of the city with my new found 2 1/2 hours of freedom 3 days a week. I've found myself driving aimlessly, to make the time pass, and also taking this time alone to run errands that up until a month ago, I never found time for. I needed to buy a new mouse for my computer. I am completely over the wireless concept. Stupidly, I did not have a plan on where to shop within a 4 mile radius. I passed the Walmart, and did a quick U-turn. In this otherwise run down area, this Walmart shown like a beacon. It looks pretty nice form the outside. Parking is a pain in the butt, but that's what legs are for..walking. Upon entering, I was immediately struck y the fact that this particular Walmart was not a complete cluster fuc as most that I have been in. I am assuming that it is because of security issues. You can actually see around walls, racks, aisles, etc. Compared to some of the other ones that I have been to, this one was relatively clean as well. The staff were friendly and helpful. Line was quick. I spent a total of $20 for a new mouse, 4 junkfood pizzas and 2 bottles of flavored water. Absolutely no complaints, unbelieveable! read more

When I got out of my car today, there was a crowd of screaming kids and their mother (maybe), who was also screaming at them. It was insanely crowded, they didn't have the mouth wash I wanted and I waited in line for 20 minutes to check out before waiting in line to exit while one woman tried to check everyone's receipt. Well I used to work for this wal-mart and I can agree with everything that everything about this Wal-mart is completely true. There are ghetto people all throughout this place and there is always screaming children all over the place. The cashier's wear gloves daily and it's only because they believe that the money and they customer's are nasty. I of all people used to wear gloves and it was only due to the fact of I caught pinkeye from a customer or a previous cashier I really don't know. My working experience was not the best with the unruly and argumentative customers, the management team sucks and the employees don't have good morale and I really felt that this store was hindering me. It's 4:30 on a Tuesday afternoon, and I decided to drive to this seedy part of Chicago, to do some shopping at the only Walmart in the City. Except, when I pull in to the parking lot off of North Ave, the lot is empty. Not a single car. There is no one around. It's really weird, it should be open, but it looked like a ghost town. Then, I realized that the power was out almost everywhere and the store must have had to close for that reason. What a waste of gas, time, and energy. Im all about providing GREAT customer service, but this place is one of the worst places to find it. I don't understand if their front end has a manager or front end lead because the lines are always long, they have no sense of urgency, and they seem to have more personal conversions amongst themselves then making sure the customers are being taken care of in a orderly fashion. Don't get me started on the pallets of merchandise in the aisles laid out all around the store while no one is stocking them.
