here is a formula for disaster. 1. Sunday afternoon 2. go shopping at your local Walmart 3. stand in line while someone argues over the price and the boyfriend goes and rips the pricing off the shelf. OK like others have said the worst lines I have ever experienced. I go for so little here. Mainly drugs( pharmacy) and some Items I am willing to be a masochist for. The eclectic nature of this store baffles me. The workers at least 95% all want to be somewhere else. If I could give it a negative i would. This was my first time ever in a Wal-Mart, so I didn't know what to expect. I had almost no preconceptions. It was at the very least, a somewhat entertaining experience. The first thing I did was go and use the restroom, and this set the tone for the rest of of the visit. As I opened the door of the restroom to leave, a woman that was obviously impaired (either drunk, high or some combination) insisted that I was in the women's bathroom. As I had just used a urinal, I was pretty sure she was wrong and told her so. She giggled and slurred a response that I couldn't understand. Ok, on to the shopping I thought... I was picking up some items through their Site to Store shipping. You order items on-line, and they ship them to the store of your choice. I followed the signs to Site to Store and they led to nowhere. I finally asked an employee who was very nice and directed me to...the jewelry department. I went to the jewelry department and that, indeed, was where the Site to Store pickups were done. I gave the person there my email receipt and he promptly came back with my items. They were also able to check out two other items that I wanted to buy from the store. So after finding this well hidden department, I received my items as expected. Would I go back? Nope. The location is out of the way, the store was a mess and the prices were cheaper, but not that much cheaper than other places. As other Yelpers have commented, the clientele are certainly interesting, but I kind of expected that, so no big deal. read more

Everything there is always out of order, how long does it take to fix a atm machine, or the gift registry machine.......and they only had one person working the customer service department during rush hour....need to train there employees to be a bit more friendlier. read more

I wouldn't provide a star if that was an option. The only positive part of my experience was the no hassle return policy for the television I wanted to return. This is by far thee worst Walmart in the World! Food is expired most of the time, restock is sloppy, employees are rude! The checkout lines literally at times may keep you waiting about 15-20minutes. I have never wrote a review before for ANYTHING, but I had to for this "Walmart". Yes there are good employees but there are also terrible ones. One in particular is SHENNETTA, or however the hell u spell that. First she was rude to my mom and then to myself. Instead of grabbing the money I was handing her she just laid out her hand and wouldn't take it. She told me she didn't feel like taking it that I needed to put it in her hand. Then when she was supposed to give me my change she dropped it from like 6 inches above my hand and the coins fell all over the register and floor. Then she has the nerve to tell me why did I open my hand. Seriously??!! I just grabbed my receipt and kept walking because I am not going to lower myself to that.....person's level. This is the first walmart with a uncle remus' chicken place in it. Now that's just ghetto! But I did partake in the ghettoness since I love uncle remus' chicken. As for the store they have what you need but they aren't very organized. Not a large baby clothing section either. If you hear that they are having a sale get there right away. If you don't all the sale items will be gone! It happens to me a few times. The people were nice but I've just been to better walmarts in the burbs. read more

Worst service ever! I will drive all the way to the suburbs if I am in desperate need of a Walmart, otherwise I will go to target. This has to be the worst place for service ever. Workers will ignore you when you ask a question. Will also say its not their department... things are unorganized, it's just awful. The cashiers are the worst! They have an awful attitude. Once I got in line put all of my items on the band and once I got to the actual register she said, are you paying cash? and I said no, credit so she got pissed at me and started yelling that that was a cash only line. I asked okay but where is that stated anywhere at the register or line? I will pay more for an item at a store if it means getting better service. This place needs to be shut down. The customer service is complete BS. I went to pay a bill from Walmart and there are 3 women and one guy at the register chit chatting and they told me to wait in line. There was no line and I was just standing there like an idiot looking at them talk! I decided to pay it online instead and went to buy the things that a needed. When I was ready, I went to the shortest line. Suddenly a "manager" points and says "are you only buying that?? There's cashiers for 10 items or less" he took me out of my line, asked me to follow him and he decides to talk to another woman and completely forgot about me! If I could give 0 stars, I promise I would. I came in at 7am, looking for a good price on christmas trees (which I found at only $40). I was happy about that but that all changed when I was forced to carry the 9" tree on my own. There was 7 MEN (yes I counted) standing and talking right ahead. They walked past me and didn't bother to help me carry it. This 5 stars is for Terry at the Customer Service Desk. Today we were calling around trying to find an armless sports/camping pop-open canvas chair to use tomorrow. (So, online shopping was not an option.) Yes, I was put on hold for about 10 minutes with a check in at around 4 minutes telling me to hold a bit longer. Terry then picked up the call. She checked on her computer and learned it was not in the store. No, they did not have the item. Yes, I was on hold for too long. Yet, I have to give Terry credit for her excellent customer service and apologizing for my long wait on line. Her determination to help me and not keep me on hold much longer is a good story on how an individual can make a difference even when everything around her is not so great. Thanks! read more

These Walmart is the worse in all chicago area the employee always talking and the store completely a mess not organized at all. The people that collect the shopping cars are always talking and having fun instead of working we have to wait long time for them to place the shopping car where they belong and it take for ever. Terrible store. Go to the one on Diversey if you must go to a Walmart. The staff here is a disgrace to the retail industry. They frequently have their aisles blocked with pallets of merchandise waiting to be put on shelves and nobody is even nearby working on putting the merchandise on shelves. I'm sure the FD would love the way they block aisles with pallets thereby making it harder to evacuate if there were an emergency. It's not uncommon to go down the aisles and find them littered with merchandise that their customers have dropped and not bothered to pick up. Yep, I realize that doesn't say much about a lot of their customers, but it's still the store's responsibility to make sure their store is clean and neat. The only good thing I can say about this store is that at their deli you can get a slice of pizza to eat while you shop, just make sure you save the box it came in so the cashier can scan it so you pay for it. As far as customer service goes sometimes it's pretty good and other times you get the impression (most likely correctly) that they are there to do as little as possible while collecting a check. How does the largest retail chain in the country, possibly the world, not carry maternity clothes? Maybe it's just this store. How do they not have a tower to store DVDs? Maybe it's just this store. How do they not have one of the rolling cart you bring to the grocery store and back if you live in a city and do not have a car? Maybe it's just this store. How does every employee you ask point you in a different direction every time you ask for the same thing? Maybe it's just this store. Not only did they not have half the stuff we were looking for, but the Wal-Mart "always low prices" were not all that low for a lot of things. $25 for a bath mat? Really? Not able to sell me a set of curtains that was clearly on display, and I had in hand at the register, because the system would not allow them to be rung up? Honestly? Went just to see what was left of the Black Friday items as some of the smaller items tend to still be around after the sale time and even the next day. This year the items i was looking for clearly said that the sale started at 6 pm on Thursday, November 27, 2014 until supplies lasted. Then next to those bigger letters was the fine print stating that the sale prices were also valid all day Friday until supplies lasted. I just happened to find one of the items but apparently it was ringing up as regular price, I had already spoken to one manager who told me that the sale price would be validated as long as it was the exact item from the ad. When I went to pay, the manager dealing with the line refused to validate the price of the items despite the fine print in the ad. She didn't even have the courtesy to come up to me and talk to me but was rather yelling at me from a minimum of 20 feet away while she insulted my intelligence with her choice of word, and while the cashier cursed me out under her breath when I was not even speaking to her. I asked to speak to a the higher manager but was simply told the same thing that the line/register manager said. Therefore, I called 1(800) Walmart but was simply told to leave contact information so that a district manager could be sent a report on it and call me to resolve the issue, but having had to deal with similar situations in the past I know that I will most likely never hear from anyone. I left everything I would have purchased after this and my mother returned everything she had just payed for. I know Walmart can afford to lose hundreds of dollars of purchases, and so it doesn't care about customer service as it makes an enormous profit but bad customer service like this is not deserved by anyone especially when something was clearly advertised in their own ad at the top of every single page. read more

I order a game for my daughter online but for got I had lost my ID so i called store and told manager what happen and he told me as long as I had the pick up email i will be fine, so i get to the store and they tell me no i told them why would i leave my house which i was throwing a bday party for my daughter to pick up a game, i was upset and on girl who i wasnt speaking to said some under her breathe and i said excuse me and she looked away, so i had other things in my cart to pay for and i was next in line and the same girl looked past me and took the people that was behind me and i said you know i was next and she just ignored me, than after she was done with the other people i put me things one the corner and she just walked away and went by the lobby, so unprofessional her name is Shyesha, out of all the people that was working only one person told me to call Walmart and change the pick up name to my friend that was with me, I wish I remembered her name cause she saw i was upset and found a solution and she was real nice. I like Walmart, always find a good deal, I even bought a tv that day, a bday present for my daughter, but this one rude person just put your rating to one star. Don't get me wrong a lot of the people that work at this Walmart are rude and have no customer service at all but they did not treat me as rude as Shyesha. I have been calling for two days now just trying to set an eye appointment and no one ever picks up the phone in the clinic. I checked the hours with the operator and apologized for bothering her (if they don't pick up the phone wihtin a certain amount of time, you are kicked back to her) and she said they are open. In my frustration I decided to check with you yelpers at your experiences and yipes! I thank all of your for taking the time and posting your horrible experiences and saving me the hassle. I think it is a good thing they they don't bother answering. I will go somewhere else for an eye appointment. I went to this WalMart about a month ago. Their prices are somewhat lower than Target prices but definitely not worth the aggravation.. Well first of all the parking lot is always packed so you'll end up parking far from the store...not a problem...that, I can live with. The store is usually crowded & it's a lucky day if you find the items you actually went in for. The shelves are usually a mess & on most days the aisles are blocked with pallets piled high with boxes waiting to be shelved. On this particular day there were at least 100 people lined up at 2 registers. People were getting frustrated & tired of waiting so they were literally just leaving their baskets & walking out. The cashiers seemed to both be having difficulties working the registers which added to the long delay. Needless to say, I wont be returning to this WalMart ever again...even though its conveniently 5 minutes from where I live. read more

Called in a Uncle Remus chicken order over the phone. They ask was I paying with cash or credit. Gave them my debit card info over the phone which I thought was because of being busy. I'll never do it again because! I woke up the next day to check my checking account to find that Uncle Remus cashier had charge my debit card three times! with three different amounts! When a Walmart needs ARMED security guards who are carry guns you know you are in for a treat. This Walmart is the closest for me but I stopped going there regularly. Outside: Manny hustlers on the corner selling questionable merchandise. Women alone can feel unsafe coming and going. Keep windows closed. Inside: rusty dirty carts. Many not working. Busy store. No service at all. At the jewelry the "lady" who helped me didn't know if the graduation rings were silver or not. Her extension hair was purple and dirty. Her plastic nails were broken. She stood there and looked at me with a painful expression. I stop torturing her with my questions and didn't buy. QUESTIONS: NEVER bother to ask questions like "where can I find. ..." because wherever they sent you. ..it will not be there. It took the workers (6 of them) 45 minutes to figure out that they were out of pillow-pets. I kept suggesting them to find a computer and look it up. I knew they should have it because I saw it online. But None of the workers knew what a pillow pet was!! On the bright side I would like to say that some of the workers even though incompetent were very nice. Just lacking training. No no Walmart that is Not how you should treat us, your costumers. I agree, it is not the best, not like the other shopping places in chicago and probably unlike other walmart stores but who cares, I am rating it 4 because that's the one which is nearest to my home. I got what my wife I were looking for..especially we searched target, old navy, burlington coat factory, and did not find the stuff that we were looking for. Very happy that this walmart is atleast there and prices are low as well. I don't disagree with other reviews for this store but i'd say to people, just go there and give it a try. I saw so many people with their kids shopping there that itself tells that it is a good and safe place to shop at. We were looking for dupont water filter which is available only at walmart but one of their staff was so helpful to take us right to the section where it is available. Thanks Walmart! This is the Worst Walmart I've every been to. Not that the actually store is gross but the employees are so rude, its impossible to get any help. Went in to get a TV waited nearly 30 mins for someone to tell me its not in stock, i drove all the way to the burbs and was checking out with my new TV in 15 mins. Next time i needed something from Walmart i decided to order it online and pick it up at the store (figured that was simple enough) I waited 10 mins just to talk to customer service another 10 mins to get the product from back and another 15 for someone to help get it in my car. After all that the product was sticking out my trunk the kid helping asked if i wanted some rope, i said yes. 10 mins go by i see him out in the parking lot i asked him wheres the rope he says oh you need to go buy it!! I buy the rope he says i can't help you, you need to put it on yourself i ask him for scissors and he says nope you need to go buy them!! I understand the store policy for not putting the rope on but why couldn't he tell me that in the first place it would have been helpful info. Only go here if you are desperate for something that no other store has, and you need it immediately. Otherwise, order online and have it shipped to a WalMart express in the loop (there are 2 now) for free. When our baby was born, this was the only Walmart in the city. My husband had the joy of finding the "Site to Store" area in the "jewry" dept as one empolyee told him. Then, he got to wait in line next to a woman who told him that, to keep her kids in line, "I beats them". Nice. The employees have always been nice, but we worry about being mugged/harassed/pickpocketed by the clientele. I would only go here if a) you are desperate, and about to lose your job/spouse/life if you don't get that ONE thing today or 2) you are trying to scare someone away--bring them here--they will never speak to you again.. I have a love / hate relationship with this Walmart. I live in the community and actually worked there for about a month last year. My love is for the hardworking employees. To the public it may seem that the employees are rude, but the real behind the scenes truth is that the employees work very hard with unrealistic goals set by the corporation. They must work hard or they will be fired. My hate comes from management who are basically lazy and incompetent. To be fair, I have to give Walmart credit for hiring people that in most cases would not be hired anywhere else. This is cheap labor folks. And the cheap prices is what brings customers in. If Walmart thought they could make more money by replacing them, they would. I still shop there for the cheap prices, not to make friends. read more

The worst Wal-Mart by far. I am a former Wal-mart employee and I was a department manager at a store in Indiana. I know a thing or two about Wal-Mart and their policies and this Wal-Mart doesn't follow any of them. It's always filthy, you can not maneuver well in this store, they have so many out of stocks and the employees and management are horrible. I try to avoid this Wal-Mart at all cost I much rather drive the 30 minutes to the Niles store. I only live 5 minutes away from this location and I had a gift card for Wal-Mart and needed some things and had to come to this location. I understand things get crazy before Christmas but the filth and rudeness are uncalled for. I had a produce employee plow into my cart when he was taking garbage to the back and he didn't say a thing to me. When we went to the toy section there were a group of female employees hanging out by the bike rack saying the f word and talking like they were at home. I wrote to cooperate and received a call from a Manager named Alexandra she could careless about what I had to say so I wrote to cooperate again about a half hour later she calls back saying that she got a call that I wasn't satisfied with the way she handled things. She was a little nicer this time around but I already had enough with them so I told her I did not want to deal with her I rather deal with corporate because they don't care about this store. It's such shame this store is like this. If Sam Walton were alive and walked in this store he probably would have had a heart attack and shut it down right away. If you can spend the extra penny some where else do so. You'll save yourself from high blood pressure and a stroke. read more

What is going on with this place? I went here yesterday for the first time, and is my last time. At first I thought this place was brand open cause is so damn disorganize! Aisle are so small, it fit one cart. Detergent are place right next to the food. Walking down the junk food aisle, some are already open and jean at the end of the aisle...what the hell? Aisle are so terribly disorganize that it gives you a headache, vertical, horizontal, random empty one in the middle. I actually felt bad for the people working here cause the customers are crazy. Customer are not polite at all, the run into you, walking around the store like everyone is transparent. Merging their cart into the tiny aisle without saying excuse me. This place kind of reminded you of thanksgiving sale or something. Oh yeah, people at this place does not know how to drive. They yell at you for what they did wrong. I can't believe the reviews for this store! I swear that some of the reviews are made up bullshit. I have NEVER had any problems with this store. I also go to the Walmart on Touhy, and I feel the same about both of them. The only complaint I have about this store is that the check-out lines are often too long and they never have enough lines open on weekends. People need to learn to appreciate what there is to offer in this store and worry less about "fitting in." Anyone can fit in anywhere if they choose to do so. I go to this Walmart approximately once a month. There are racial differences, but there are racial differences all over America. This country is a melting pot. Diversity is one of the things that makes this country great. The sales people are helpful and polite and so are the cashiers. There is no green goo or slime on the floors. There are no kids fighting in front of the store and no American Idol wanna-bes. There are going to be disgruntled customers at any store you go into. Some people can never be pleased. That's not the store's fault. All you complainers about this Walmart store need to get a grip and give the store another chance. Maybe it was just a bad day when you all went there. One more thing; Of course they check your receipt at the door when you buy more expensive items. They have to make sure you're not stealing it.
