I understand if your understaff or do not know a item that the customers wants. However, WALMART. Please do your customers a favor and don't have the customers waiting forever to find a item. So I called Walmart, asking if they have taper candles. The person was quick to answer and she had no Idea what kind of candles taper were so she said she was going to get someone else to help me. I've been waiting over 45 minutes to talk to someone. Mind you that by 30 minutes into the conversation I just headed to Walmart and I found them by all the other candles. I wish I could say I'm overly disappointed but I mean it's WALMART you really can not expect much. I'm not mad at the first associate for not knowing but the least they could have done was google it. I need to get this off my chest. Everytime I go to this Walmart it's awful when it's time to leave. The area to check out there is always stress when approaching the check out. I've seen people yelled at, treated badly by the store reps standing there ushering us like we are a herd not consumers. I've never been to a Walmart where they act this rude to you. I seen a woman cry and just walk out of the store. I'm not gonna lie, I almost walked out too. I've learned to go around the back and not go to self check out because that's where we get the crappy treatment. It's usually a beefy guy that acts that way. wow so I bought new wiper blades at Walmart in Salinas on Friday .. they didn't fit my veh so I live locally near the marina walmart .. so went to return 3 new pairs of unused auto wiper blades in the original package Aling with a receipt that was 3 days old on sunday.. the person at the return desk coukdnt scan the original Walmart receipt ... was told if I want the funds togo back onto my credit card I would have Togo drive 30 mins / 22 miles to Walmart Salinas just to do a refund or i can get a Walmart gift card instead. SURE I got plenty of time and gas to use to dive round trip 44 miles / 1 hr to get a correct refund onto my CC.. wow walmert return policy says you can return new stuff in original box so long as you have a original receipt... Huge and stocked with all the things you'd expect from a massive Walmart store, but with all the annoyances, too. Somehow it doesn't seem to matter how many lines they have open, you're guaranteed at least a 10 minute wait whether you are standing in a 2 person line at the self-checkout or a 10 person line at a single struggling cashier. I checked online to see if they had a video game in stock, and was excited when they did, and it was on sale! Then I went in to buy it and found a different price. I asked and I was told that not only are the online Walmart and the brick and mortar Walmart different groups, with different prices, but Walmart stores don't even price match their own website. Which is ridiculous. So I purchased the item online, and marked it for in-store delivery, and then walked up to the person who was 'helping' me and retrieved the game. Walmart has good selection and prices, but their customer service verges at times on the farcical. If you have any other choice, I'd spring the extra couple bucks to shop at a more focused outlet, but it'll always be there if you need it. read more

In my opinion and experience the greeters at the exit door are biased or are racially profiling when it comes to checking customer receipts. Have had multiple experiences where they don't check the customer's receipts ahead of me but then they check my receipt and scan my products. Felt discriminated against on those days and this practice needs to cease immediately or the exit greeters need to check everyone's receipts regardless of their racial background or appearance. Normally I hate (HATE!) going into Walmart. They're completely overwhelming and the staff is generally not helpful if not all out rude. We were on a road trip to Big Sur and needed to stock up our cooler, and with a toddler in tow, Walmart was unfortunately the easiest option. I don't know if this Walmart is run as a franchise, or maybe the small square footage of the store makes it easier for the managers to keep an eye on their staff, but I was really impressed with how clean the store was and how friendly the associates were. The woman behind the deli counter let us try a little meat before we ordered a pound of it (I'm picky) and the young guy in housewares walked da hubby over to the baby nail clippers (instead of the usual grunt and vague point). The one complaint I have is re: the girl at the register. She was not friendly. At all. At least, not until my hubby walked up, and then she was allllll over him. Don't get me wrong, this happens a lot (the price one pays for a life with a gorgeous, gregarious man) but she was being ridiculous. Even if I weren't standing there, and he didn't have our daughter in his arms, and he had a "SINGLE AND NASTY" tattoo on his forehead, she was being ridiculous. I don't mind Walmart, and am actually happy that it is such a successful company. However, I'm not impressed. First of all, many of the products are on the lower end of the quality scale. I avoid Chinese-made goods for exactly that reason; that, and also because China has a history of exporting harmful products. Even so, you can find American-made products if you look.* The clerks are meh. The prices are not always the best; some things are cheaper at Target or Trader Joe's. One thing I noticed the last few times I visited: not enough checkout clerks. When there are more than three people in a line, you need to open another register. It would also help if the "twenty or fewer" lines actually had people with fewer than twenty items in their carts, but that's not Walmart's fault. Be it I live a block from this Walmart, it is a one-stop for my basics, aside from the grocery store I work at. Overall, is not too bad at all. I've always had good experience with the customer service. They've got some nice people who work register but sometimes they are snail-paced, be it that it seems the greeters have been made to move to register duty. One of my complaints is probably what a lot of Walmarts get: If you have like 20 registers, why do you only open the express ones and one or two of the main ones???? Makes no sense, especially if you have lines building at anytime of day! And...could they do something about the clutter of the main walkways? Especially being that it is a small Walmart, why would you put so many displays that clog up the walkway, especially by grocery?!? Absurdity, yes. I wish not to be in close contact with the "colorful" Walmart crowd while I come in to get some necessities. So that is where my 3 stars comes from. I had an epiphany today. If it ends with "Mart", I hate it. Wal-Mart essentially validated this in my last visit. This store does have some redeeming qualities: It's clean, fairly well-stocked and the prices are just right. The low rating comes from the amount of people that are always here and the knowledge of the cashiers when you do finally make your way to the checkstands. Yes, I'm aware of Wal-Mart's hiring practices, but come on!! Is there anyway Wal-Mart can hire people with half a brain? It never fails, every time that I'm here, I'm stuck behind people because the cashiers aren't aware of pricing and just generally don't know what they're doing. Their explanations to try to justify this are undoubtedly amusing. I also hate that people from Salinas are starting to frequent our Wal-Mart but not for the reasons you might think. For about a month or so, the cashiers were asking customers for their zip codes during checkout and I kept hearing 93901, 93905, 93906 which are all Salinas zip codes. This is the typical Walmart...nothing extra ordinary and nothing that would make me like it less. The staff here are very helpful anytime I've ever had a question and there always seems to be one around. I also love this place because it's not HUGE like some walmarts that are almost intimidating to enter! Parking is good here and there always seems to be a spot, even if you have to walk a little. I went into Walmart today to pick up a couple of items. I brought my 2yr old with me this time and we picked out a toy for him. After playing with the toy for the entire length of the shopping trip we finally get to the register only to find out this particular toy is not for sale. The cashier tried ringing it up and it rang up as not for sale, she didn't know why so she asked a fellow employee ( I believe a manager). She came back and said they couldn't sell it because it is on the recall list. I stated that they should go and take the others off the shelf then if they were not for sale. Not only was my son upset because he couldn't get the toy but he didn't understand why. Come one Walmart get it together! We go here fairly often and it's going downhill fast. The aisles are a mess with stock and carts blocking on a busy Saturday afternoon. The staff people stocking make no effort to allow customers to go through. They have "remodeled" one are and made it into a small rat maze. They have a mismatched mix of items in the maze and the ladies working the area are rude. They have locked up items like baby wipes and facial scrub and it's next to impossible to get someone to unlock the cabinets. This store needs a manager and assistants who care. read more

Since they lock up things like DEODORANT!! and face wash separately so you have to pay for them before leaving the "high value" area, then the greeters hassle you for the receipt ten feet from where the checkout just rang you up ... it's insulting. Had to come in today for some prescriptions. This pharmacy is usually good but today they had problems with some bar codes they have to scan for prescriptions, so I had to wait....ugh. Having to wait so long we got hungry and went got a ready made sandwich fro the deli. It was dry, even with extra mustard I put on it. The bread was also dry. It was cheap 5.98 for a foot long sandwich. They did put a lot of meat inside, but it was still dry. read more

That being said, This place gives an alternative to the Target which I felt has had a strangle hold on the area and adds some good quality Chinese sweat shop made stuffs. I think that not so much people know about this one yet. From what I've read it appears that they tried to stop the center from opening. This place only hires the most incompetent people. Everyone there works at a turtles pace and no one knows where anything is at. One employee said Walmart does not sell iced tea. Another asked me if iced tea was a drink and pointed to an area in the store that they thought it was. It's been this way for years at this place. First time I came here was to get a bike for my daughter. They were out of all their bikes. Second time I came here was to buy scrubs for school. All they have are xs petite and 3x. Seriously? Tried on some clothes and their TWO dressing rooms were dirty! Get a broom and clean those out. This store is just too dinky I cannot see how they named it a super center. More like super dinky. Use the app to pay, choose e-receipt so there's nothing for the door checker to do but let you out. Watch for the traffic in the parking lot. Morons park in the fire lanes making cars go around them and not see you walking out from behind moron's car. Tell the bakery people you love them. I wish this Walmart would expand, calling this former Kmart building a Supercenter is a bit of a reach. The parking lot is much more safer than say, Lucky in Sand City or Grocery Outlet in Marina.
