Great place to buy school supplies. As a teacher I love coming here for my classroom items. The deals are awesome and you get more for your money. I am the crazy lady who has 50 glue sticks, 40 folders, 25 boxes of crayons. You get the idea! You definitely do not want to be in line with me it may take awhile. But seriously as someone who has to buy their own supplies Walmart is great. I just wish they had more cashiers available. It stinks when you have to wait in line forever. I don't normal frequent Walmart. However, we went to this Walmart because we needed to get a baby pool for some concrete work ASAP. As luck would have it we ran into a girl by the name of Jackie. Jackie jumped on a request ran around back found help brought down a baby pool. We told her it was too small, she smiled and ran back for a bigger one ASAP. In town for the weekend and my cell phone charger crapped out. I was super stressed as my battery dropped into the single digits. There was an older gentleman working the electronics area and he was SO nice. Very empathetic to my situation and helped me check to see that the cord was going to work (that it wasn't something with my phone). I just so appreciated his kindness when I was feeling more than a little stressed about the situation. Whomever you were, kind sir, thank you! read more

This is the closest Walmart to my house, but I usually end up going to a further location. They're always out of items and don't have what other Walmarts have, even the smaller ones. It's very inconvenient. Most of the workers are friendly, but there are a couple that spoil it for everyone else, unfortunately. One particular girl named Hannah is both unhelpful and openly rude. On one occasion, I simply asked if I could swap a $20 bill for two tens, and she flatly told me "No" with an annoyed look. No apology, no explanation, not even a fake smile. Just an irritated "no." If you want to find what you're looking for without being treated like a hinderance, go to a different Walmart. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I walked in to grab formula for my baby. I notice they don't have enough of the cans I want, so I ask the nearest employee I see, "excuse me, do you know if you have more of these?" And he said, "that's not my department. Ask the electronics guys". Okay...so I walk over to electronics and ask the guy behind the counter. He points to an old man with white hair and tells me to go ask him. I hunt down the employee he pointed to and asked him. He said "oh no, the girls at the fitting room are supposed to stock that." "So you can't help me?", I ask. Nope. I find the fitting room and ask the ladies over there. FINALLY someone could help me. I walk over to get in line to check out. There are only 2 registers open, plus self check out. But since Walmart's formula has the security device over it (for whatever reason), you can't use self check out. I kid you not, I wait in line for 20 MINUTES, even though there were only a few people in front of me. This lady is scanning everything so slow. Finally I get up to the front and she doesn't even have a key to open the security lock on my formula. She asks someone else to do it for her and tells me I need to wait to the side. I told her I already waited 20 minutes. My baby is crying by this point because we've been waiting for so long. I grab a manager and tell her about my horrible experience. She does nothing, and walks away. She didn't do anything to make things right, and nobody even apologized for this terrible experience and service! Next time, I'll find a different company to give my money to. This was ridiculous and so unprofessional. read more

Do not shop here. They sold us a broken television and wouldn't take it back. We had receipt and all equipment but we didn't have the box it came in. Who keeps the box??? I mean it's Walmart but still. I don't know what this thing was before it was a Walmart, but the building isn't suitable for a Walmart at all. The aisles are crammed together and you practically knock stuff off of the shelf just scratching your ass. They never have most of the stuff that the one in Mesa Riverview has and the staff acts like they haven't been paid in a month. Visiting from out of state and needed a few items. Off info to the Supercenter. I'll say this is the smallest supercenter, maybe even regular Walmart, that I've ever been in. The only thing I couldn't find was a pair of sweatpants for my 6'4" hubby, but that's a common problem. Otherwise I got all the misc items I needed, foods and pharmacy type things. Walmart no longer price matches other competitor prices. Good riddance Walmart. Hello Target. Target prices on items I regularly purchase are priced equal to or less than Walmart and I don't have to put up with dirty parking lots, horrible customer service, scary clientele, shopping carts that always have damaged wheels. The worst WalMart location out there. First of all this is a half a$$ed walmart due to not carrying a full electronics department, and lack of inventory in other departments. My main cause for the single star this evening is how the night management at this 24 hour store lack simple intelligence. When I come to the line (carrying one item) none of the check yourself out lines are open, and there is one checker with a super long line, but she is not checking items, she is changing her drawer till. I openly complained and was then told by another checker (that decided this was a good time to open a second line) that "i Am sorry sir we need to change the tills at midnight" I asked if she was the night manager and she replied yes. I then replied to tell her that she sucked. She said she has to change tills at night there is nothing she can do about it. I told her she is the manager and she can make changes to deal with store rushes.... isn't a manager in charge? She was either not in charge or too fat and lazy to care. As i left the store, I glanced to my right and noticed there were about 15 employees sitting on the curb having a break. Whoever this night manager is, should be shot for laziness and indifference. Pardon my lack of improper type and misspellings, but after I wasted 20 minutes of my life on stupid fat people, I could care less. read more

I ordered a school uniform from Walmart online. The shirt was shipped and the skirt needed to be picked up. The shirt that I received was red and I ordered white. When I went to the store to return it they wouldn't take it. They said I needed to mail it back because it came from a third party. They would mail if I brought it in ready to ship. It seems Walmart takes no responsibility for what the sell on their website online. I have choices and I'm taking my money back to Target! read more

Oh how I wish this was still a Mervynn's!!!!! Worst Wal -mart ever. Rude employees that follow the example of their rude manager. I was trying to shop for food and I guess there was some sort of employee meeting going on in the aisle I was in. They totaly (6) employees and manager just stood in my way and would not let me by, even though they looked straight at me. I said, " excuse me", then I barged through, gave an electric shock from my cart to one of the employees my cart bumped and they looked at me as if I was the rude one. I am a manager at Big Lots, and even though we are a $$$$ saving store, I would never treat a customer like that. Many mornings me and my employees are putting things away on shelves when customers are around, and instead of blocking their way, we ask if there is something we can reach for them. At least I know I do, and if I ever see one of my staff members pulling a stunt like that, they would surely be reprimanded. Needless to say, I was so upset about their rudeness, I left my cart full of items in the aisle they were in and left. I have never been back, nor will I ever go back, no matter what. This Walmart hardly has anything I need and the employees are very unhelpful. One of many examples: one time I stopped by to grab a vase. Not only do they not carry a simple vase, but the employee I asked was very arrogant and rude about it. (The dollar store right next door had a selection of vases). Another incident is the reason I will never shop at this Walmart again. I had accidentally locked my keys and my cell phone in the car while shopping there. With my hand full of groceries, I explained my situation to the lady at customer care and asked if I could use a phone. Her reply, "we don't have phones for the public to use". Customer care my ass. I had to track down someone with a cell phone just to make a phone call. read more

I have no idea why the photo to this Wal Mart displays "SUPERCENTER". This has got to be the tiniest Wal Mart known to man! The parking lot was designed terribly! They rarely have what I want stocked on the shelves. Terrible customer service-sometimes the cashiers ask if I found everything alright. DO NOT go here during the day! Besides battling for a parking spot you will also find yourself waiting in line FOREVER! They do not utilize back up cashiers whatsoever! Why is this the only Wal Mart in Tempe besides the even tinier college location!??! I now drive to Mesa Riverview Wal Mart for all my Wal Mart needs. I went through the self check out, and had to put some items back since the card I was using wasn't being read, and I didn't have enough on my debit card for everything. The clerk (Sajessica) at the self checkout recommended I go to one of the other store clerks to check out after putting my items back. I put my items back and came back through the self-check out and once I rung my things up, this clerk (Sajessica) came over and inspected my bags to make sure I had put the previous items back and asked to review my receipt. I asked her if she checks everyone's receipt or just mine and she said "yeah" she checks everyone's even though she didn't check anyone's receipt before or after me. I was also checked when I left the store. So my receipt got checked twice. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to talk to a manager, but came back a few days or a week later and told a supervisor what she did. Come to find out the cashiers/clerks are not supposed to check receipts. So what she did was personal and a power trip on her end. Pathetic. read more

Last night after 20 minutes and a small hand basket I still could not get checked out, I went to ask a question and all I was told "This Lane Is Closed" - fine I said, I'll add 20 min to your day and you can restock these items - gave them my basket and walked out. I am quite surprised at all the low stars for this Walmart. I am actually quite impressed with this location. Yes it was a Mervyn's at one time. However, i think it is quite large inside with a lot of selection. They even have a full grocery set up. I think it very clean and it smells clean. I travel for my job so i have visited many a Walmart through out the country and this one is very nice. They develop photos and have a pharmacy. Prices are good. It is still a Walmart though. So you can only expect them to have what they have. The parking is limited that is true so that is one reason i was down a star. read more

Well....its Walmart so it smells like farts and there are lots of bums in the parking lot. It is one of the cleaner stores inside, but it is so small. It is close to home and cheap.....but wear a gas mask and be ready to be asked if you can spare change from bums. read more

I wanted to grab some local shirts for my daughters before heading out of town. This Walmart was large and well kept, but the selection of clothes was rather paltry. I was able to get three shirts that were different from each other, but that was about the extent of the selection. Otherwise, the stores were well stocked and clean. I didn't see any associates anywhere so good luck if you need help. I have seen and experienced much worse for sure. read more
