I've gone in expecting to see the optometrist, only to find out he had called out. On Friday, I called to see if my trial contacts had arrived -- I was told someone would check and call me back. When I initially walked inside, I was immediately impressed. I was greeted by multiple people at the front desk, and I appreciated their use of technology in allowing me to confirm my information and sign the acknowledgment forms on a computer screen. April, the Certified Paraoptometric (CPO), took me to the examination room, and performed visual acuity tests. She also used the Optical coherence tomography (OCT) to take images of the retina or back of the eye. I valued the way she took the time to explain each step in the process. Afterwards, Dr. Flanagan, the optometrist, came into the room and finished the eye exam. She was professional as well as personable, and she took the time to answer all of my questions. The next step in the process was sitting down with Chad, the optician, to review eyewear options and select frames. When I had questions about the charges, and what my benefits covered, he provided all of the details related to the frames, the lenses, and all of the various options. The final step in the process was checking out and providing payment. Yolanda, the front desk manager, was friendly, and she offered me the opportunity of scheduling my next appointment before I departed. After leaving the clinic, I received emails with a post visit survey, as well as a reminder of my next appointment date. Unfortunately, this Marietta location has now given me the same experience two years in a row, and it's consistently poor. I ordered glasses on January 3rd based on the advertised 10-day delivery timeframe. Since then, I've received multiple changing explanations for delays, each only communicated after the previous promised date had already passed. First it was a frame backorder, then lens grinding delays, and most recently a broken lens and backordered lens material pushing delivery even further out. At no point was any of this proactively communicated. I had to call each time to find out what had changed. To make matters more confusing, I received an automated "hope your glasses are working out" survey while being told the order was still weeks from completion. The issue here isn't that delays happen. It's the lack of transparency, ownership, and communication. Other LensCrafters stores clearly manage this better, which makes this feel like a local management issue rather than a brand-wide one. If timelines slip, customers should be told early and clearly, not after deadlines pass. I wanted to give this store the benefit of the doubt, but experiencing the same pattern across two different years makes it hard to recommend.
