Dr Scanlon is the most amazing eye doctor ever!!! She provides 5-star service. She is kind, patient, friendly, and very knowledgeable.. That is why i have been seeing her for about 9-10 years, maybe more... BUT to get to Dr Scanlon you have to get passed the trolls. The customer service in the front of the vision center is some of the worst I've ever experienced. I'm surprised these women still have jobs here with the way they treat and talk to people. Rude, short, snippy. They act as if you are bothering them. Whenever you walk in, most times you are made to wait a minute or so before you are acknowledged or helped, even when there is no one else there. Standing there is awkward. One of the trolls is worse then the others, but the others seem to follow suit when she is there. And on this last visit I noticed cleaning practices slacking. I watched the main troll put dirty glasses that people tried on right back on the display without cleaning them. How unsanitary... I decided to get glasses elsewhere. I'll be back in a year or two for Dr Scanlon, but if she wasn't so amazing I would never recommend this place. My advice, Just get your exam and then run far away from this place... read more

I saw Dr. Laura Scanlon for a severe issue with my left eye (after my 3 month old accidentally scratched my eye!) My vision was severely impaired in my left eye and I was fearful that I was going to be blind in it. She was able to reverse the pain and vision loss that I had with proper medication and treatment. She is extremely professional and very kind, understanding and gives quality care. I feel like it's not that easy to find that these days everyone Dr. seems like they're in a rush and don't really give you the time of day. Thank you Dr. Scanlon! read more

Currently, I don't own insurance for eye exams, so I looked around for the most cost effective place. In my opinion, this Walmart Vision Center is the cheapest and the best around this area. For $79, I had my eye exam, contact lens fitting, and a trial pair of contact lens. I even got a starter kit with the solution and container. However, I got this special rate by calling 1800 CONTACTS, and having them make the appointment for me. I am not sure how much their regular rates are, so I suggest you call them and ask. Anyway, now about the eye doctor at this place.... Oh my gosh! He is great! Besides the fact that he's very handsome, Dr. B is wonderful. He's quick, he's thorough, and he answers any questions you have with great detail and precision. Why couldn't I have found this place any sooner? And why do I have to move out of state? For those lucky enough to live nearby, and have the need for an eye exam, just go to this place. It's truly awesome. At least in my opinion. read more

I usually go to Kennedy Perkins for my annual eye exam and they have always done a great job. However, this year, I was looking for opportunities to save some money and I wanted to look into the possibilities of contacts. After reading K W's review, I decided to give Wal-Mart Vision Center a try. I currently wear eye glasses and knew that my vision had changed as I could not read the writing on the board in class. I also wanted to give contact lenses a try but was also a bit squeamish about putting something in my eye. It's just weird. My appointment was at WalMart Vision Center was booked through 1800CONTACTS. If you don't want to try contacts, just call the WalMart Vision Center directly. The benefit of making the appointment through 1800CONTACTS is that first time contact lens wearers get a free week lens trial and a discount on their first lens order. For the price, $89, it went up $10 since KW's 2008 review, it is still a bargain for a comprehensive eye exam and INCLUDES the contact lens fitting. Most places will charge an additional fee for contact lens fitting. After performing the eye exam, Dr. Laura Scanlon, takes you into a room with a counter, mirror, sink and stool. She explains how to insert them and watches you. She was patient and encouraging. I had to practice inserting and removing them first before being able to take them home. Sharon Ciardiello, an Apprentice Optician, also showed me a trick for removing them. My experience at the WalMart Vision Center was great. After the initial visit, you have one week to try out the contacts, get used to wearing and caring for them. At the follow up visit, the Dr. will give you the eyeglass prescription and place the order for the type of contact lenses prescribed. I am enjoying my new contact, but will alternate wearing them with my glasses, which I plan to order through Warby Parker and have the lenses in my old frames replaced with new prescription lenses form Optical 88 (an acquaintance raved about this place!). All in all, I am happy and I did save money on the exam and the contacts. read more

Dr. Laura Scanlon is the BEST eye doctor I've ever been to. In fact, she is the best doctor I see. She is such a considerate, patient, and knowledgeable doctor that my family and I have followed her when she transferred offices. Dr. Scanlon's exams are thorough and her "bedside manner" is affable. She was able to quickly diagnose my father's condition after he had already been to three other doctors who had overlooked it. She arguably saved his vision. My 14 year old son and I needed a prescription for contact lenses. Dr. Scanlon helped us to find, after trying 5 different brands, the right one for each one of us. No more red eyes!!!! It took several visits and every time they found time for us. I called to make an appt for me and my daughter and without checking anything the person said call back in 3 months. After 3 months I called and was told again to call in 3 months. I called and 2 appts. were made. my daughter one day, mine the next. same time. we went in and the dr was checking on my daughter, then i thought to ask could she me also, well why did i ask that! one person said "oh, so you want me to go huntin". I'm like well at least you don't have to tomorrow. then the dr saw another person then took me in and said "your vision is getting better" as if i don't know it isn't. so at this point i knew i wasn't getting a pair of glasses. then the one who went huntin sits me down and starts yelling about i have to make a decision on which pair of glasses i want because i had one for computer/reading and one for driving. then asking what school my daughter goes to, i said just do the computer/reading. of course my glasses were ready first by 7/24/21 although she said est. 7/27/21. so they called that mine were ready. never got a call about my daughters so i went to get my daughters, of course they wanted to give me mine to continue the unprofessionalism, which i left there because they purposely made them unusable. read more

Walmart is the best, prices, convenience and service! I paid almost $400.00 (now broke) for my glasses with flimsy sunglasses with insurance and I needed sunglasses that I could put on and take off without them scratching my glasses! I only had one pair of eyeglasses and felt I should have a spare, just in case. I had had a recent eye exam and had my prescription. So I went to Walmart hoping to find less expensive eyeglass to keep as a spare. They had a large selection of frames to choose from. I liked that they basically left me on my own to go through and try on many different styles. I found a frame I liked, very similar to my original glasses. The ordering process was very simple and straightforward. The frames I picked were only $9 ( no, not a typo :) and the total bill, with single vision lenses, was only $38. I was told it would take about a week, but actually got a call only four days later that my glasses were ready to be picked up. I'm very pleased with the whole experience and will definitely return for more glasses in the near future. read more
