We, a party of five arrived on Mother's Day the single busiest day of the year. We were seated immediately, our server greeted us immediately , offering coffee and beverages. She quickly returned and took our breakfast orders. The full breakfast order arrived in less than fives minutes. Within ten minutes of arriving we had a delicious breakfast on the table, Amazing! Just another diner. Came here with a group of coworkers. I liked my food better reheated the next day, but the salmon that was ordered next to me was very good. As with any diner, the cook determines what dishes are good. Be wary of specials that may be made in bulk and sitting out to dry, but don't be afraid from the ones that sound good either. Wow... was VERY DISAPPOINTED! Do Not order the country fried steak as it was mushy, had no texture and tastes like nothing but flour. I then asked for the meatloaf instead... which was better but not much better. A basic diner that was rather busy, yet not noisy. In general it appeared clean inside. However, when you walk in, there was a strong cleaning fluid smell coming from the near by bathrooms. Very unappetizing. We were seated way in the back however, luckily. The menu had a lot to choose from and our waiter was on the ball. We got everything we ordered in a super quick manner. It was a little scary how fast our food order arrived actually. I've never experienced that before. Thinking because of this the food would not be good, but it was. We had a late breakfast. The eggs benedict was super, and a good size portion, along with delicious hash browns. The scrambled eggs I was told by my guest were fine but he wasn't thrilled with the scrapple (tasted deep fried instead of pan fried). Coffee was good too and the pancakes average (short order was two huge ones, but tasted a little like a mix with just water, not milk in it or an egg). Ordered food for lunch at work. We had about 10 people order. When two of us went to pick up the food it took a couple minutes for them to acknowledge us after we paid. The hostess wouldn't even say excuse me and instead would try to squeeze between the counter and us. When we finally got our food, we left and unpacked everything when we got back to work (only about a min or two down the road). We noticed that a turkey club sandwich was missing. My coworker called them to let them know she was heading back over to pick up the sandwich. The employee that originally packed up the food had the audacity to call her back and argue with her that it was in the bags we were given. She told him that it was not and that we unpacked everything/went through all the bags we were given. He then told her to check again because he put it in there. Needless to say the diner employee was wrong, called our employee a liar, and when she got back over to the diner it was still sitting on the counter in a bag that the employee did not hand to us. Yes, the parking lot was full but the Walnut Bottom Diner is well equipped to deal with the crowds. The dining room is spotless. Would give zero stars if I could! My husband and I used to like this place... but ever since the new owners took over, it's gone severely downhill. All the food we had was DISGUSTING. We only ate as much as we did because we were hungry, and didn't feel like waiting even longer to eat something else. Took too long for them to serve us to begin with. Even the desert was gross! My husband had to flag down someone in the kitchen to ask for barbecue sauce for his sandwich when our waitress disappeared. Then when we went to pay and I complained, they just said, "well since you ate the food, there's nothing I can do." They called the manager and they told me that "she just never takes anything off, especially if you ate it" which we didn't eat it all, we picked at our food at best, how else am I supposed to know I like it or not if I don't eat some?
