We usually only walk around here when the rain prevents us from going on a bike ride or a more strenuous hike on the hilly trails nearby; so it's usually been just us and a few others who don't mind the rain. There is a water fountain and garbage along the way which is helpful if you're going to spend a few hours outside. We'll park down by the Hive and walk up so we can get a little more of a workout. There are sidewalks most of the way but a few small sections where it's only dirt. Walking up, around the reservoir twice and back down is about 6.8 miles. It's a good way to get a couple hours of exercise in if you have the right gear or don't mind getting wet.

Great place to walk/run with family or by yourself. Main entrance located in a neighborhood. Walkway is asphalt with greenery surrounding and reservoir in the middle. There are stations along the way to sit and pet waste trash cans. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Painted distances markers along the way. All the way around is just short of two miles.

Wasn't planning on coming here, but found it while my wife and I were hiking along one of the trails at Oak Canyon Nature Center. It's a rather boring, paved trail, mostly for walkers, joggers, and bicyclists. I think it's about a 2-mile loop. I felt like a hamster on a wheel going through the trail. There's not much to look at other than the large reservoir in the middle. I actually found it more interesting to look at the houses surrounding the trail than the reservoir. There are some very nice houses here. There aren't any large trees to provide shade so it's best to bring a good hat and put on sunscreen. To make it more interesting, you can take one of the trails going down to Oak Canyon Nature Center. My wife and I took Roadrunner Ridge trail to get up here.

Upon first glance, Walnut Canyon may just seem like 1.7 miles of paved concrete but to Anaheim Hills residents it is a peaceful getaway. One can easily guess that Anaheim Hills is full of.. steep hills. Additionally, it's difficult to have a nice stroll outside without cars zooming by. Have you seen Serrano? Here at the reservoir, it is a great opportunity to get a pleasant walk in, complete some virtual runs, or a quick cycling. The doggos can get their steps in too! There are distance markers around the loop so you can track your progress. Sunsets look exceptional from here too since you can see a complete view of the sky. I am grateful for this trail because here lies the beginning of my running journey. It's been a painful one but thanks to Covid, it's now a lifestyle. I have completed all my milestones here and there will be many more to come. Walnut Canyon isn't glamorous or scenic compared to other OC "trails" but it is a relaxing haven for us local residents. Now go get your steps in and see you outside!

Great walking/running trail. The loop is approximately 1.7 miles around. It is entirely paved so definitely stroller friendly. No motorized vehicles allowed though. Many people also walk their dogs here. Thankfully, most seem to pick up after there dogs as the trail is usually free from poop. :) For those who are trying to slowly build endurance, know that there are about 4-5 benches situated along the trail where you can either rest or simply enjoy the scenery. I usually go herein the mornings but I hear the sunset views are pretty amazing along the reservoir. There is free parking available on Laketop Drive. Weekends can be somewhat busy but you can also park at Canyon Rim Park and walk across Canyon Rim Road to get to the trail. By the way, there is really no tree canopies along the trail so make sure to bring the sun screen.

Love the kitties on this path.

This place is so great. Not to long and not to busy. Wish there was more shade and more benches, but that is just the old lady in me talking.

The trail around this reservoir isn't really shown on any signage or maps but it's another place you can go close to home (If you live around here) to get away from traffic and burn some calories walking or jogging. The trail is paved and is almost a 2 mile loop. There is some incline and decline spots in the trail too, not just flat. The address is a spot where you can park if you drive over. There is a spot where I think a trail runs up from the Oak Canyon Nature Center. http://www.anaheim.net/ocnc/

Eh... it's not that great. It's more for walkers, runners, and bikers. I'm not a fan of paved trails so I was quite disappointed. Like someone mentioned earlier, it's not all that pretty when the water level is low and it exposes the walls of the reservoir. I would say the reservoir looks much better from far away spots up at Weir Canyon or Santiago Oaks. The only good thing is that it is connected to Oak Canyon Nature Center trails. You can connect from the northern side of this trail and make quick work of the short trails that loop around the nature center and come back to where you started. Much much better than the boring 1.7 miles of paved trail.

This reservoir is almost 2 miles around and has a great trail that is paved and fairly spacious. I've jogged around the reservoir a couple of times and felt very safe also. There is limited parking on the neighborhood streets nearby, but I've always found a spot without too much effort. Definitely a great spot to jog around a time or two.

    Such beauty very serene......

3.5 If people picked up after their dogs it'd be a different rating! I've been coming here forever and once I got King Louie we came more often especially when I got him a puppy stroller so I can get around a bit easier. I prefer to come during off peak times because it can get a bit crowded with runners, bicyclists and families with all of their 10 kids LOL! It has nice views all around no matter where your walking, but you really have to be careful so you don't walk into dog poop, its everywhere! They put dog bags around the whole trail so there's no reason to not pick up after them! If your not going to pick up after your dogs don't come here! It's unsanitary and unfair to people who are just trying to exercise and enjoy their walk! Other than that it's pretty solid and I hope soon I will be able to walk the whole trail! ^__^

This is a fantastic place if you want to go on a fun, relaxing jog. The area is mainly a paved, looped path around the reservoir. However, there is a small hiking area that you can explore. Not a rugged hike, but fun either way. The path itself is very spacious and there are plenty of other people walking their dogs, running, or simply walking. The area is very scenic with the exception of the fences surrounding the reservoir itself, but that is to be expected seeing as it is in the middle of a large residential area. The best times to come would be early in the morning or just before sunset. That is when the area looks the most beautiful and there is no shade so you won't have the sun beating down on you. This is a great place to bring dogs or children.

Starting from Canyon rim Road, the rain has made the water so fresh and clear

This is such a hidden gem. It's about 1.7 miles so it's great for a running trail! The rain has filled up the reservoir and it gives you beautiful scenery and wildlife. It also connects to an oak canyon nature center trail that you can find but starting the loop to your right and making it past the first turn. The trail head is on your right. The best time to go is sunset because you have beautiful views of the canyon and Orange County. It is not shaded, so I would recommend bringing sunscreen and a hat if you're going anytime before four. Keep in mind that street parking is available, but there is street sweeper on Tuesdays from 8 AM to 12 noon.

    # 500 Review Saved…read moreit specifically for Thy City I Love... My 1st review on a City ever There's so much to say about Yorba Linda. Let me say it was the Best Decision ever to purchase our 1st Home together in Yorba Linda, summer of 2015. My husband and I looked at Hones in other great cities, Irvine, Cypress to name a few and even looked to stay in Fullerton/Near Troy HS. We were looking literally almost 5 years. When we looked in Yorba Linda, i just knew of this city as the well known Richard Nixon Library along with it being his birthplace. Never thought I'd be raising our little humans here. It's been almost 8 years living at the Land of the Gracious Living. And loving every second of it. Watching our kids grow, meeting and going to school with other great families. The neighbors are all so friendly and even strangers that ends up being friends. Everyone is all so welcoming since we moved here and we have made other new families feel welcoming. I haven't heard any negativity from anyone that has moved to our town. It's quite a bummer reading other reviews about Yorba Linda stating it's a snobby town. I highly recommend looking into purchasing here in YL. You'll get your moneys worth for the amount of land you get. When we moved here in 2015 the town hasn't had much development as of big stores. Until In 2017 i would like to say. We finally have our own Yorba Linda Town center right next to Old Town Yorba Linda Main Street. It's a beautiful town center with our very own Regal theater. Our new Public Library is a beautiful place to visit for books & other children department programs they have to offer. The city is definitely a knit tight community. I grew up almost basically my entire like in Fullerton and I didn't feel a sense of closeness for the less than 8 years I've been here as much as I feel living in Yorba Linda. We have so many parks also. The biggest addition to one of the best parks is we recently just had our newly renovated Adventure Playground added to one of our parks. Definitely a Must visit!
