Genuine, caring, and amazing people that work here! We have a reactive rescue dog that can be a hard to work with, but they always find a way to help whenever we need it. You can tell they care a lot about what they do, thanks guys!

After our long term vet retired, we have had the hardest time finding a trust worthy vet. Until we found Walnut Creek vet! Our senior girl has been having issues walking. Two visits with Beth their acupuncturist, she's going so good. Their office is clean. Their staff is amazing. 150% recommend them.

I've been taking my dog to Walnut Creek veterinary for over 10 years. She has a spine disease and gets regular accupuncture with Dr Beth monthly. She also loves Dr. Thistlethwaite, who is Dezy's regular doctor. The whole team at this veterinary office have been amazing.

I bring my dog and 3 cats to Walnut Creek veterinary hospital and I live in Fairfield which is about 35 minutes away and over the martinez/benicia bridge. My family love our pets like a part of the family and we want them to live long healthy lives because we also know the heartache when they are no longer here. Years ago our first dog was misdiagnosed and we missed a chance to catch tumors early-on because the doctor told us he had hives and later said it was a cyst that wasn't cancerous. He suffered more than needed and now I'm very picky and do my research on where I take my pets. I have taken them to a couple more places nearby and they were decent but I still didn't feel like it met the healthcare I wanted for my pets. I eventually found a mobile vet I was happier with. When my dog needed to get spayed the mobile vet couldn't do it and recommended walnut creek veterinary hospital for the surgery. As soon as I walked in I knew this placed was owned by animal lovers who understood what pet owners want for their fur babies! The staff is so polite and friendly and everything was clean and aesthetically pleasing I especially like the cubicle type seats in the waiting area. I seen the doctor's bio's on the website and they all have impressive educational backgrounds but in person is what impressed me more. I've met 3 different doctors for my dog and cats and they have all had a genuine care and understanding for my pets. I cant explain it but I just sensed that they care for the health of your pet seriously. It honestly felt like when i took my kids to the doctor when they were little! I only bring my pets here now and it's worth the 35 minute drive. From the spaying surgery to issues like allergies and crystals in urine the care is always equally good. The doctors and staff keep you updated and they don't try to oversell products or testing that isn't needed. If anything i ask for more tests and they give me the honest opinion whether it is or not needed. The doctors also gave follow up calls to see how at how treatment was progressing. When I've called in with questions the staff has been helpful and relay messages to the doctor and they get right back to me too.

This is my pup Frank, he is an 8 year old Frenchie with IVDD (a progressive disc disease, very common in the breed). He gets acupuncture from Beth Schneider. She has puppy "ice cream" that makes his visits something he really looks forward to, and she's so good with dogs. She has helped us so much with his fecal incontinence, pain, stability, energy level, general life happiness. She's so good at what she does, and I just wanted to share the recommendation for anyone else whose dog might have mobility issues. I've found that WCV is also wildly more affordable for the herbs that she recommends for maintenance and pain relief; we've gotten those same herbs at another clinic in the area that charged an obscene amount. Frank sees Dr Ikezawa for his regular visits and she's been fantastic too!

Ask the Community - Walnut Creek Veterinary Hospital

Hello, please let me know if you have the HypoCat vaccine. It's the vaccine that was developed by the Swiss to assist people with cat allergies?

Hello, thank you for your inquiry. We do not carry the HypoCat vaccine.

Hello how much dose it for a rabies shot for a cat?

Hello, if we have not seen your kitty we would have to perform an exam to establish care. The cost of the exam is $83.00. The cost of the vaccine would be either $35.00 for a 1 year vaccine or $91.00 for a 3 year vaccine. Please call our office with…

Do you provide gastropexy for giant breeds (laparscopic) with neuter? Rough estimate please. Thank you.

Hello Patrice, We do perform gastropexies, however, not laparoscopically. Thank you for your inquiry.

    Any experiences with French Bulldogs?

Yes, we see many French Bulldogs. While all our doctors see our Frenchie patients, Dr. Shann Ikezawa has a particular interest in brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds and all medical needs that come with their uniqueness.

    How much is microchiping?

    $40.00

Do they have experience working with Shar Peis?

    Do you do house calls?

HI David! We do not do house calls, but we have the contact information for a few really great doctors that do provide that service. If you would like their names and…

Do you do vaccine titer testing? If not, will you draw my dogs’ blood so I can send it to the University of Wisconsin to be tested.

We do offer titer testing. We run our Distemper Parvo titers through our reference lab and we send our Rabies titers to Kansas State University.

How much do you charge for a small mass removal under the skin?

Hello! It is hard to give an estimate without performing a complete exam. There are several factors that come into play when providing an estimate for a mass removal (size…

I am getting a new puppy. How much does WCVH charge for neutering a puppy?

It depends on the weight and it is recommended the puppy should be six months old or close to it.

Do you offer an allergy shot for dogs? My dog suffers from very itchy skin twice a year. My sister told me an allergy shot helped her dog. My vet is not offering them at this time but told me she has heard positive reviews.

Hi There! We do offer an injection called Cytopoint that can help with itchy/allergic dogs. Give us a call to set up an initial exam with one of our doctors to discuss whether this would be a good option for your baby or not!

Do you guys do other furry animals other than dogs and cats such as rabbits?

We only treat Dogs and Cats here :)

How much does dental cleaning under anesthesia cost? And is a general exam included in the price?

A general exam is $69.00. At that time we would do an oral exam and provide a dental estimate. A general cleaning generally starts around $700-800 depending on the patient. If there is any dental disease the cost would go up from there. Please call…

Does your office do ear cropping?

No, we do not do ear cropping here.

During our appointment yesterday, vet tech Ana not only took incredible care of my pup, but she also patiently answered a handful of random questions I'd been saving up for our annual visit in August. Everyone on the staff is incredibly well-trained and knowledgeable. From a user standpoint, the technology is a game-changer. Being able to seamlessly schedule appointments through the app or get quick advice via virtual care--often saving us an unnecessary in-person trip--is a massive benefit. Vet care is a frequent topic of conversation among pet parents, and I always find myself recommending Modern Animal. While veterinary costs are high everywhere these days, the value here is unmatched compared to my previous vet. Having access to multiple locations across the Bay Area (especially crucial if an urgent issue pops up) combined with 24/7 virtual care makes it worth every penny. With their recent merger with Chewy--a company renowned for stellar customer service--I have high hopes that this exceptional level of care and community focus will continue. Highly recommend!

Let me tell you about loyalty…read more Fourteen years. That's how long my dog Bella trusted Banfield. That's how long I trusted Banfield. And y'all fumbled her in the end. Everything was "fine" when she was young. Easy cases, routine visits, collect the check, keep it moving. But the moment Bella got old--when she actually needed real care, that's when the cracks showed. No, not cracks... the whole system collapsed. You suspected cancer of the tongue. You pushed a $300 test. I said yes because this is my dog, my family. Meanwhile, a specialist tells me that test can't even give real answers. But guess what? My money was already gone. Then you come back with, "Good news, no cancer!" Oh really? Because when I bring her back, after she sits in a crate ALL DAY, you hit me with: "Oh...the test is inconclusive." So what exactly was the good news? Because from where I'm standing, that was confusion wrapped in a bill. Fast forward. Bella is struggling. Constipated, uncomfortable, clearly declining. I call for help. And what do you recommend? Psilocybin. Yes. That psilocybin. Like I'm supposed to go pick up psychedelic mushrooms for my dying dog. I checked Target. CVS. Nothing. I call back, you double down. I go to a pharmacist, they look at me like I've lost my mind. Turns out you meant something like Metamucil. So now I'm grieving and fact-checking my vet? And let's talk about access, because every time I called, I'm sitting on hold for 20 minutes like I'm trying to win concert tickets. This is a veterinary office. Not a radio station. Now we get to the day. Bella's last day. I bring her in for a follow-up, and the front desk is asking me about dermatitis. Dermatitis? My dog is declining, and y'all are reading from the wrong script. Disorganized. Rude. Confused. No awareness of the moment. Then comes the hardest decision I've ever had to make. The vet recommends euthanasia. I say yes. And a few hours later, my 8-year-old daughter and I are saying goodbye to someone we loved for 14 years. We paid for keepsakes--her fur in vials. Something small to hold onto. They ask if we want to wait. We can't. We're shattered. We choose to have it mailed. Weeks go by. Nothing. So now, in the middle of grief, I have to chase you down. You say, "Oh, it's ready--but we can't mail it because it's breakable." So the option you gave me... was never actually an option? I go in--reluctantly--because the whole point was not having to come back. And what do I walk into? More confusion. They can't find the fur. They're looking for the card. The card isn't even in an envelope. Nothing is prepared. Nothing is handled with care. Nothing is handled with dignity. Nothing is handled like this was someone's family member. Let me tell you the difference. I canceled an appointment with Bella's ophthalmologist--a doctor who barely knew her--and told them she passed. Within a week, they sent a condolence card. They donated to University of California, Davis in her name. That's what compassion looks like. That's what professionalism looks like. Banfield? You had 14 years with Bella. And when it mattered most--you showed me exactly what that loyalty meant to you. Nothing. Banfield stinks.

Meanwhile, my cat is having grand mal cluster seizures 1.5 days after her annual visit for literally this exact issue, because they didn't give my cat the medication I dropped her off with that they prescribed her after diagnosing her with epilepsy the prior year! They said I misinformed the tech.... I'm sorry, what?! What was the misunderstanding? I handed her my cat and the medication and said she didn't get her dose this morning because no one instructed me to give it to her or not before her procedures. The girl said she would "definitely let the Dr. know" - verbatim. So all I get is a, "sorry that happened to your cat" - verbatim in a phone call and an email from one of the Drs. Oh, btw, I also got understandably frustrated with the Dr on the phone for the lack of real empathy and genuine remorse. The apology was not an apology, and she just kept asking me what I wanted as a solution. I said for you and your practice to take responsibility and figure out a way to gain my trust back! It was not a hard request, but she eventually hung up on me and then the next day, like a coward, she emailed me that they would no longer see me or my cat as a client.... BECAUSE I CALLED YOU OUT ON YOUR MALPRACTICE AND LACK OF REMORSE AND EFFORT IN FINDING A SOLUTION THAT SAVED A CLIENT'S TRUST IN YOUR CLINIC?! This low life actually had the balls to tell me that there was supposed to have been an intake form that they should have had me fill out. So.... again, I got dropped as a client for YOUR BAD PRACTICES?! So much more happened, it is overwhelming. I would never trust my pets here again. Very disturbing. Also, the bad comments I have read here are VERY true. I wouldn't believe a single positive review here, I am astonished they have any. They seem like fake reviews honestly. They claim that the prices aren't high - false. The staff is friendly - false AF. The treatment of the pets is great - SO FALSE. One more thing, I called out one of the Drs for being drugged up or drunk during my first ever visit there! She was so jumpy when my cat hissed a couple times (given animals can sense evil and Muller Vet, who I took her to once I got dropped, she was purring for and rubbing on the Dr who just understands that you treat pets with care) and I had to even navigate every step of the damn appointment. Her speech was slurred, her eyes were lazy, she couldn't tell me what any next step was... I called that out, have the emails, and just more of the same acknowledging BS. HOW IS THIS A SPECIALTY CLINIC?! This is the email I received regarding not giving my cat the medication. Note that I had called them to ask about if she did get her medication and they put my on hold for over 15 minutes just to determine that it was not in her notes, which shows me they do not complete their appointments thoroughly with documentation. The follow up call was 1 day later and she doesn't have seizures usually until 1.5 days after her missed dose. I also stated she had 3 seizures: "Good morning, I hope this note finds you and Emmy well. Maggie let me know you had some concerns around Emmy's phenobarbital administration while she was here for her exam last week. I was sorry to hear that she had a seizure the following day although I was a bit surprised since it wasn't reported to the technician who called to check on her at noon the following day. I have reviewed our records and chatted with the technician assistant who spoke with you at check in and assisted with the procedure. I can confirm that Emmy did not receive a dose of phenobarbital while she was here. I know dropping off your kitty can be busy and stressful and I did not see in your written notes and the technician assistant did not clearly hear you asking us to administer the medication while she was here so she did not receive it. Looking back, I do not think we would have been successful at administering any oral medication to her in the clinic due to her high level of anxiety. Unfortunately, she becomes very stressed here, which is why we need to sedate her to examine her. I hope this provides some clarification for you. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you or Emmy. Sincerely, Regina Roach, DVM Civic Feline Clinic (925) 930-9226

Having that level of clear communication and compassion during a scary moment made all the difference. I am so grateful to everyone there and would highly, highly recommend them. Thank you!
