I mentioned I plan to trade the vehicle in about 18 months when the warranty expires, and that I recently paid $260 for a battery at Morrie's Mazda for a similarly aged vehicle. They charged me $380 -- and only knocked $50 off after I was clearly upset and agreed not to leave a bad CSI. If they're willing to overcharge me by $120 on routine service, I can only imagine how badly they'd try to rip me off if I were actually buying a car. read more

I went in to Nissan to get my battery checked because after the cold freeze and 3 separate calls to AAA for a jump start I thought it might be time to check out the battery. I replaced my battery less than 2 years ago so I wanted someone at the dealership to check it out. I was in for the most pleasant surprise with Kirk who thoughtfully took his time evaluating my car and battery. He tested it several times and let me know the issue was the battery. Then, there was a hiccup when I came to pick up the car. Kirk worked to solve it, replaced my battery, and loaned me a rental while I waited. The customer service at this dealership is impeccable. The staff was friendly, the transaction went smoothly, and I felt good driving off the lot. However, they sold me an extended service contract from Secure/Assured Provider Services (administered by DOWC) for $3,500.00. The moment it came time to actually use the coverage, the reality set in. While the buying experience was a breeze, this contract is packed with sneaky, anti-consumer fine print designed to get out of paying for claims. When you try to get a repair done, you quickly realize you are going to be stuck paying massive out-of-pocket balances anyway. Do yourself a favor: enjoy the vehicle purchase, but flat-out refuse the extended warranty. It isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Below, I've detailed the exact loopholes they hide in the contract text. If you look closely at the contract text, you can see exactly how they avoid paying for standard repairs: The 125,000-Mile Expiration Trap (The Ultimate Gotcha): Under Section 2 (Surcharges), the fine print states that critical coverage for Seals and Gaskets expires completely when your odometer hits 125,000 miles. They happily sold me this contract knowing my Suburban already had 152,418 miles on it. For starters, I feel that it is partially my fault for not inspecting and test driving the vehicle before I purchased it. I live in Illinois and contacted this dealer because they had a specific vehicle in stock that Ive been searching for. During the process purchasing the vehicle, the salesman assured me there was no need to travel to Minnesota. He send me multiple videos and walk throughs of the vehicle. He assured me the vehicle had no issues. I put my trust in him, super helpful and attentive during the process. But once the proceed went through and papers were electronically signed he washed his hands and was not helpful at all!!!! He provided me with the incorrect transportation number and a phony address. Mind you I was over 400 miles away. He said sorry for giving me the wrong info, my vehivle arrived and multiple issues with it!!! I understand I purchased a used vehicle, and no special bells and whistles!!!! But the heat was not working, loud noise coming from the engine like squeaky belts. 3-4 speakers blown out, passenger mirror not working. I took the vehicle to a dealer they reccomended me too. They had to replace 2 belts, charge the coolant, have to order speakers and mirror. My wife was out of a vehicle for 2 days. 4 uber rides, no compenstation from walser at all. Now I have to wait for my warranty to kick in so I can take care of the remaining issues!!! long sTory short, never purchase from this dealer and never ever Take a salesmans word over the phone!!!!!! The dealership website claims "Walser Reconditioning Process: All vehicles undergo a rigorous 35-stage process including a 190-point mechanical and visual inspection at our Walser Automotive Recon Center, the largest of its kind in the Upper Midwest." However, my husband and son drove 12 hours to the dealership to purchase a vehicle that ended up having a considerably undersized aftermarket cabin-air filter. He went to a local Nissan dealership to have an appropriate filter placed in the vehicle. When he followed-up with the Loyalty Manger who sold him the vehicle he was told they would "not be participating in the filter replacement." I then reached out to the General Manager, who said the same thing. Neither manager answered my questions and failed to reply to my email when I asked how something as basic as a filter issue could be missed if that rigorous mechanical and visual process was actually completed on the vehicle. I would NOT recommend this dealership. I think their claim about every vehicle going through a rigorous inspection is a lie and the fact that TWO managers failed to reply to my email and answer my question speaks volumes to their level of professionalism. read more

I decided to retire my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder and came to Walser in search of a new car. I worked with Swarup and he was very informative. I got to test drive the Nissan Rogue and he was very informative of the features! I came back two days later after much deliberation and decided to purchase it! We came at 6:30pm on a Monday and since it end of day it took a while with the financing. Overall process was great and easy! I'm very happy with my purchase and love my new car. I've purchased two vehicles here (and nearly a 3rd one) and I've been happy with all of the sales staff that I've met with. My last purchase was last week and they set a speed record getting me signed up and on my way. I've been through closings at other dealerships where it's like an hour to wait for the business manager, then 1-2 hours to close/do financing.....takes practically a whole day. My sales agent did the sale, financing, and closing seamlessly with the staff assisting vs being passed around. Service after the sale has always been good. I wish they had a car wash....this is something they should correct. read more

I don't know about their new vehicles, but I don't have a good experience with Walser on their pre-owned vehicles. Comes with problems unfixed. And stupidity on my side for not spot the problems right away or request a third party inspection before making the decision. But what is worse is the sales rep even makes fun of me for not spotting the problems right away. With that being said. I do not recommend buying pre-owned vehicles from Walser. Do not buy your vehicle from here. Seriously. I had a very bad experience. Below is just SOME of what my experience entailed. The team at Walser Nissan Wayzata are ready to take advantage of you in any and every way. My first warning was when I decided (reluctantly) to finance through the dealer because they had a 1.9 interest rate advertised. I was very clear that I wanted in the low interest rate. The finance manager, Ryan, told me everything with my credit looked great, and that the quotes all came in very quickly. But then I wait about 30 mins. When the sales guy, Mike, finally comes over with my finance info, he tried to rush and get me to sign the paperwork to hide that the rates they were showing me were 4.8- 5.5%. I have excellent credit. I called them out on it, and asked for the lower interest rate. After "running numbers" for an additional 20-30 mins, they come back with the 1.9%. At this point, I'm extremely wary of the team and ask them to print off all of the paperwork for me to look over before I decide to continue. As I'm leaving the dealership, I realize that the price of the vehicle is different than what was listed online. I follow up with the sales guy, obviously upset in the price change and their lack of communication with me. Apparently, the "upfront price" listed on the site reflects a rebate (the rebate is only applicable with the financing options at the 4.8-5.5% interest rates). Obviously not great! There were so many other red flags that I'll leave out due to review length. Overall, I tried to tell myself that all car dealers are trying. But the final straw was...I decided to continue to purchase the vehicle after all the drama (I know...). The vehicle was a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle, meaning that it goes through all these additional inspections. One of the requirements for CPO is two key fobs. As I'm about to leave to drive off with the vehicle, I ask about the keys. The sales guy gives me an odd look and is like "oh, let me get your second key". He comes back and after telling me "and all CPO vehicles do come with two key FOBs, unfortunately we just have one at this time so we're going to need you to come back and we'll program the second key for you". The programming was going to take 30-40 mins and should have already been done. Clearly they do not take their inspections seriously. If they aren't thorough about something as visible as keys, what other less visible things are they hiding or dishonest about. Very, very terrible experience. Don't be like me. I had to learn the hard way. Thankfully, I was able to return the vehicle and go to a dealership (Poquet) with a GREAT reputation. read more

I bought a 2011 pathfinder in 2014 from this dealership. I called them to let them know I was bringing in my Altima trade in and a check, 24 hours in advance. I came in only to be delayed by 2 hours because they were getting my pathfinder "ready." My salesman didn't even come talk to me because he was busy making another sale. They sent me on my way with the vehicle on empty! Literally, the mileage left wouldn't even register bc it was so low. Also the low tire pressure was on and had less than 32 psi in 3 of the tires. After a month of having the vehicle I finally turned on the heat (bought the vehicle in oct) and the heat did not work in park or idling below 2k Rpms! I called the dealership and complained but they said it wasn't part of my warranty! But I could pay to have it fixed there! Also they sent me a coupon book a few weeks after my purchase- the FREE oil changes were ripped out of the booklet!! I spent 27k on my vehicle- I didn't deserve this kind of service- never again. I was told I am no longer able to use my free oil change and that I also have a recall on a 2017 car I just started leasing last May. They cut off the free oil change deal as of April and today is April 2. I wasn't informed of the free oil change cut off or the recall until I called to make my appointment. I went in and bought a brand new 2020 Murano platinum, Dan a sales man was amazing......his manager what a useless person. Would not listening to what I had to say. It unbelievable at one point during the process of paperwork I got up and ready to walk out. I actually was up and had my jacket on ready to go. I never ever in my life encounter such incompetence person like this guy. thinks he knew it all without listening and tried to understand what his customer got to say. I repeated myself about 6 times.....if he would just pay more attention to his customers the deal would've been a lots smoother. If I did NOT felt bad for Dan for working so hard and so understanding I would've walked out for sure. When I got up and ready to walked out Dan still working so hard to make sure I'm happy. I have been coming here for over five years; and purchased two vehicles from Wayzata Nissan. I went in today for an oil change. At 2pm on a Wednesday. I was the ONLY person there waiting for service.. it took them ONE HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES to complete this. I'm not sure if they're under new ownership or what- but I will not be returning. For service or purchase. I can get a $30 oil change down the street without the upsells, done in 20. Also- on a side note- I'm pretty upset the free snacks are gone too. read more

I asked him for more pictures, detailed description of some items, and a lot more. Went back and forth with him via email, text and call. He provided all the answers I needed, plenty of pictures, and an accurate description. Being my first internet purchase, I was nervous about the process, including delivery. Paul did a fantastic job of setting me at ease. He also helped with delivery arrangements (thought I ended up using a different moving company I found elsewhere). At every opportunity the sales staff is rude and doesn't seem to know anything but the most superficial details about their cars. I was interested in an all eccentric leaf and none of the salesmen could tell me anything about the maintenance schedule, range, reliability etc. Worse yet, no one cared to find out any of the answers to my questions and get back to me. Fantastic experience! I dealt with Colton Ray throughout the whole process and he was great. Everything was very seamless and easy. We talked, emailed, texted, whatever was convenient for me. I've dealt with plenty of dealerships in the past and I have to say this was one of the easiest and best car buying experiences I've had yet. You can tell they take pride in what they sell, the car I bought was used, and had a ding on the door, and a scrape in the front bumper lip, which is normal for a used car. I said it was no big deal, but instead of selling me the car like that, they went ahead and fixed them both for me without charging me anything! Now that is taking pride in what you sell! Bought a used vehicle here, paid cash for the car. I made sure the salesman filled out the agreed price including all tax and fees for the final total cost on the sales agreement. I signed the contract and came back at a later date with a cashiers check to pickup the vehicle and met their business/closer. He went over the contract and I noticed the numbers had changed on the fees (higher). I told him I wouldn't pay the higher amount, he said it was a mistake (typical bumping the price, that's what these guys do). The business agent got rude and yelled at me after I refused to pay the additional money, I explained it was their mistake and the dealership should pay. This is bait and switch tactics, its unethical and not right no matter how small the amount. read more

I purchased a 2009 Murano with a very expensive extended warranty and 3 months after I had the vehicle the Oxygen sensor went out, (they called it air/fuel ratio center which is a new name for an oxygen sensor). They said it was not covered under warranty so I called the warranty place and they said it was 100% covered after my deductible was met. Did a test drive for a Nissan Rogue today with salesman Scott B. He was very knowledgeable, was about to answer every question I had (no matter how complicated, or what the content was, lease, financing, warranty etc) and he didn't have to look up a single answer. He was thorough and showed me all the features of the car, far more so than any of the other vehicle test drives I've been on this week. It looks like a small dealership but it has a ton of cars. No looming managers or smarmy attitudes that I've experienced elsewhere. I ultimately went with a different car, but of all the sales guys at the other dealerships, Scott knew his stuff the most and I never felt pressured. read more

Natalie was not willing to listen to my concerns about the price of a used car and the manager was pressuring us to use our Credit Cards to buy a car when we were very clear that we had to wait for the Monies from the Insurance Claim.... went to a different Walser dealership, was treated with respect and found a car that we ended up buying...... maybe next time the manager and Natalie can use better listening skills and be more professional when dealing with clients/ customers..... I was working with Jack Kelly on the purchase of a used Nissan Leaf from Wayzata Nissan. He seemed to repeatedly play games with the pricing by changing the numbers as we were working through the negotiations and purchase paperwork. He made a big show of mocking what he claimed was a "misunderstanding". I would have believe that if it was the first or second time. But changing the price several times in one transaction? Seems pretty fishy. Heck -- he was even initially trying to write it up for over their own advertised price! This dealership is bad news and their Yelp rating reflects that. I walked out after wasting 2 hours. Stay away! ----- Edit 4/30/2015: The preowned manager, Arnold Thoms, reached out to me to discuss my experience at Wayzata Nissan yesterday.
