When my husband and I first moved into our new home, we had a BIG PROBLEM with our carpet. Our cat was afraid of his new surroundings and did not go in his litter box. For the first couple days, he decided he liked the carpet. The smell was awful! We tried EVERYTHING to clean it and get the smell out, but nothing worked. So I called Walsh's Chem Dry and the owner, Tom, came to my house to inspect the problem. If there is any company out there that cares about their customers it's this one!!!! He gave me many different options of how the work could be done and even informed me of how to do it on my own if didn't want to/couldn't afford to pay them to do it (it was a big job, but still affordable). He took his time to make sure I had all of the information I needed (even if it meant for me to do the work on my own, not hiring his company). My husband and I decided to have Walsh's Chem Dry do the works on our carpet, padding, and sub floor. Tom explained everything they would be doing before it was done, explained again while it was being done, and gave me updates on their progress. He really made sure I was happy with all of the work. When we moved into our condo, we inherited a very stubborn carpet stain that was in front of our main door. Not knowing what the stain was from, we figured renting a Rug Doctor from the local Safeway would do the trick....it did for about two hours and then the stain came back with a vengeance! BEWARE OF BAIT AND SWITCH!!! Walsh's Chem Dry in San Jose asked a number of questions about my home size (1900sq.ft.), carpet condition (new two years ago, one inexpensive area rug, light soil), and estimated $400 for the entire house. My girlfriend wanted to use Chem Dry, so I booked despite other companies bidding less--$200 to $300 for whole house. When Chem Dry's cigarette smoking workers showed up they quickly estimated the job at $713--but could "give me a deal at 15 to 20% off". I protested that the estimate was $400 and they said "the prices come from the company." I quickly told them they could go back to the company with their doubled price. Call to Carey the owner resulted in "Gosh, that bid was way off", too bad so sad. No thank you Chem Dry, Smokers, Cary. read more

I had a horrible experience with this company. While their schedulers and office staff were professional and customer service savvy, the workers they sent were terrible. We hired them to do a thorough cleaning of our new home pre-move in and I was very displeased with the results. They sent 2 workers who after 6 hours did not complete what should have taken 4. One of the bathrooms looked liked it was barely touched. The workers talked alot and I found them sitting around often. I was devastated as we needed to move in quickly AND they slapped me with a $600 bill ($50 per man, per hour). What Walsh's Chem Dry did to my carpet is nothing short of miraculous. The team of two power vacuumed my carpet and stairs, lifting embedded fur from my two cats. My beige carpet hadn't been cleaned for about five years and was terribly stained in many areas. They then sanitized the carpet with a solution before using their green products and method of cleaning. I have tried several times to schedule this company to clean my carpets. The first time they cancelled at the last minute. The second time I was given a general time range of when they could come. They decided to show up over an hour early, so of course I wasn't home. They didn't bother to call my cell phone to see if I was even close by to run home. Of course no one ever called to reschedule, so I called them. Barbara answered the phone and had the nerve to start yelling at me! I am a software company owner and know that if I spoke to my customers that way we would be out of business. I do not intend to be yelled at by someone I'm trying to give business to. I scheduled Walsh's Chem Dry on a Saturday they came on Time and were very professional. They thoroughly explained their cleaning process and what they were going to and moved my furniture with extreme care. After they were done, my carpets looked new again! Nice and bright. They also put walking paper on the main path areas where they cleaned to prevent us from tracking dirt until the carpets were fully dry. After about 2 hours my carpets felt completly dry. My cat pee'd on my couch and as oppose to getting rid of it ,cleaning it was a last resort.
