I wish I would have worn my sunglasses inside. The lights are turned up so bright that I felt uncomfortable and it strained my eyes That aside I enjoyed the pork tenderloin, it was great! It was one of the best pork tenderloins I've ever eaten! My only wish would be to cut the onions thinner so they don't fall off of the sandwich. You could tell the tenderloin was pounded out by hand and hand breaded. Very tender and tasty! They mailed it in on the coleslaw. It was runny and had a funky taste so I switched it out right away for the fries, which were good. My number one complaint at a restaurant is if the server doesn't come and ask me within five minutes if I need anything or if the food is OK. Guess what didn't happen? The guy next to me had the wing's that looked like drumsticks. I'm definitely going to come back and try those. I'm going to wear my sunglasses too and pray for a just little better service. I recently ate at Walts for dinner as it was relatively new to Brownsburg. I ordered the sothwest salad with what it said would be seasoned ground beef. I was served a salad with not very warm crumbled hamburger on it. It was served in the shell so I don't think they mixed up the order with what they had as a hamburger salad. The hamburger lacked seasoning was not warm and overall didn't work in this dish whatsoever. To day it was a disappointment was well what happened. I had to wait a while for it so I struggled through eating some of the salad but left disappointed. I did like the service. Our waitress was great. The place also is very nice inside. I may recuperate and return and try something else to see if it is any better. read more

Small Brownsburg family restaurant with excellent service. I was a little skeptical when I walked in because it wasn't what I pictured but i was pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was extremely nice and knowledgeable. There were a combination of 3 different salad/ bowl type items on the menu and I wanted an element of each one to make the salad I wanted. The waitress graciously listened to me and said that she didn't see a reason why my desire couldn't be accomplished and she did just that. Kudos to Callie! Was visiting the Indy area from Texas and needed a good breaded tenderloin sandwich. Walt's rose to the challenge! The tenderloin sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. It was lightly breaded; crisp and not greasy at all It was a nice thickness and not pounded out to oblivion. Callie, our server, was a sweet heart. Very attentive and a lot of fun to talk with. The vibe was welcoming and decor was fun as well. Next time, I am back in Indy, I will be getting my breaded tenderloin fix at Walt's. read more

Heads up there isn't a place to wait on your table. I got the Southwest Salad which came with Southwest Egg Roll and it was so yummy!! Very small space with many tables all crowded together. Understanding that they are new and still learning will help you to not be impatient as service takes a bit more than expected. The menu offerings were less than I had thought. I have passed this restaurant several times-- and it looked relatively new. I couldn't remember what that establishment used to be prior. I kept telling my husband and friends we should go there. So we finally got to go! The exterior was new and welcoming. You just knew you were about to have something epic! Uhhh wrong. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was very sweet, with the biggest lashes that looked like a push broom. She took our drink orders--a couple of glasses of wine and waters. I wasn't overly hungry and didn't want a full meal. The menu was kind of limited for entrees so I ordered the fried Catfish sandwich sans the bun. Hubs had the dinner. I explained that I didn't want the fries as my husband's meal came with enough for both of us to share. She seemed to understand--but it came with fries anyway. Fish was lightly breaded, hot and delicious although a little thin. Waffle fries were hot and tasty. I doubt they were house made--but good enough. We saw they had fried mushrooms on the menu--and we couldn't resist. But we should have. I have had these from different places and these by far were the worst I have had. ( Tip: go to Spykes bar in Clermont--they are killer!) They give you a generous portion--but they just weren't delicious enough to finish. I doubt we will return, although the fish was delicious. We've been waiting for something to open in this space forever, so we were excited to hear an established West Lafayette pub was setting up shop. We stopped in for lunch after church one afternoon and were pleased with both the food and service. I enjoyed my buffalo wrap although I agree with previous reviewers who said it's not a hot vinegary sauce and is more like a teriyaki sauce- still very good with the tomato basil tortilla. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their food. Our server was friendly and attentive as well, despite how busy they were. They have a variety of seating and can definitely accommodate large groups. I hope Walt's does well here and I am sure we'll be back soon. read more

Walt's just opened in Brownsburg on 1/13/25 (this week) and I am welcoming it with open arms after many disappointing years of this building sitting vacant. There's a decent amount of parking but don't be fooled with the drive thru signs....there isn't one. The inside is a bright, open space with lots of seating. There also looks like a separate section for events/parties. You seat yourself down. Our server was nice and gave us enough time to browse the menu. We had the Famous Corn Chowder for appetizers, which our server was kind enough to split into two bowls. It was so rich and comforting on this cold day. Chunky and seasoned perfectly! We also ordered and split the Classic Smash Burger and Indiana Pork Tenderloin sandwiches and sides are separate a la carte, we got the Waffle Fries. I thought the smash burger was good but my friend felt it could have been juicier. We both loved the tenderloin, it was so crunchy and seasoned well. One thing we both agreed on were the buns were too big (bread-y?) making it difficult to handle the sandwiches without making a mess. We also had the Walt's Margaritas which were average. I first had carry out for lunch for their first week of being open & everything went smoothly. I had their famous corn chowder which I can tell why it's so famous- it's delicious! I also had the pork tenderloin fries with coleslaw & waffle fries & it was equally very good. Went back in with my family & it was very family friendly. The place was super clean and the staff was really friendly. The food was just alright. I had the Tenderloin strips with the pub rub. This came with waffle fries and Cole slaw. My wife had the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich with waffle fries. I also got a side of the corn chowder. The tenderloin strips were lukewarm with way too much of the rub seasoning on them. My waffle fries and my wife's waffle fries were both lukewarm and really greasy. The slaw was just okay. The breaded pork tenderloin was good but not great. However, the corn chowder was fantastic!! I e would have said something to our waitress but she didn't come check on us until we were about halfway finished with our food. Overall I'd give them a 3.5 star rating and may go back at some point and try something else. read more

We picked this place randomly because it was a halfway point between our towns and we were not disappointed. Tasty food, friendly service, and beautiful ambiance. We were greeted with a friendly hello and seated right away. Our waitress was great and answered all the questions we had about the menu, even let us sample some sauces. I love a server that likes to make playful jokes! Draft beers were cold and the vibes were high. We started with two appetizers and then each ordered an entree. 04/17/15 was our first time dining here at Walt's. We were greeted at the hostess stand and were told we could seat ourselves wherever we wanted. There were menus and silverware already at the tables. It wasn't too horribly busy and we picked a spot, a nice cozy booth for 2. We were greeted by a gal who said she'd be our server and she took our drink orders (water and unsweet iced tea). They have the crunchy ice that's a good thing. As we are sitting there waiting, and waiting and waiting some more we couldn't help but notice how dirty the place was.. There was all kinds of trash and food on the floors and as the young lady who was a server was cleaning the tables instead of picking up that big waffle fry or the crumbled up napkin she kicked them under the table. Shows real ambition about her job and for customers. We received our meals and much to my surprise the chicken teriyaki bowl (which is basically chicken, rice & broccoli with some teriyaki sauce) was drowning in sauce no kidding! I thought maybe the rice would absorb some of the sauce but sadly that wasn't the case and there was nothing that was going to make the saltiness go away. I also do not like when servers remove the drinks from the table to refill them but that's just me and my preference but it's how they do refills there. This is a brand new restaurant in Brownsburg that just opened about a week ago so it has been very busy. We decided to give it a try on a Saturday evening. We walked in and there was only one party of two ahead of us that was being seated. The restaurant was pretty full. There were three of us and the host thought we would be seated quickly. The kitchen must have been either a little slow or everyone arrived just ahead of us because we ended up waiting about 30 minutes before we were seated. Our waitress came and took our drink order quickly then disappeared for a while. She eventually brought our drinks and took our food order. It took probably about 20-25 minutes for our food to come out. Which is not bad, especially considering they were busy and they are newly opened. My husband and daughter both had cheeseburgers. My husband's was a smash burger, which automatically comes as a double. He said it was delicious and a good size. The fries are waffle fries and are a la carte and he said they were very good also. My daughter's cheeseburger was from the kids menu but it looked just as big as my husband's cheeseburger! She gobbled it and her waffle fries right up. I had the Harvest Orchard salad with grilled chicken and raspberry vinaigrette dressing. The salad was a good size and the chicken was well prepared and tender and the greens were fresh and there was just enough fruit and bleu cheese dispersed throughout the salad to give a good taste in each bite. The restaurant is bright and has a lot of tables. There is another section that may be for groups or larger/private parties, but right now they are using the whole restaurant. Everyone seemed friendly and I am pleased to have another choice to dine in Brownsburg. read more

I want to start off by saying that the score for this review is for the food and atmosphere. The staff and service were excellent, very attentive. Like other reviews, the unfinished baseboards, borded up backroom, and harsh overhead lighting did not make for a good first impression. The chairs were very uncomfortable. The menu feels like it is from 1984. Unoriginal and unhealthy. I went for the Buffalo Wings. The sauce felt like Worcestershire sauce over greasy overcooked wings. The ranch was watery. The "celery" was thin ribbons of one rib for the entire dish. Others at the table were similarly disappointed with their choices from cold tenderloin fries to salads with wilted greens. I had the Southwest chicken salad and it was merely second rate bagged salad with maybe 1/2 of a grilled chicken breast on top and some black beans and corn dumped on top. Zero flavor. Decided to visit this restaurant after the debacle that was the potential Dickeys BBQ fizzled out and sat empty for quite some time. We've heard a lot of positive about Walt's so we were excited to try it. The first impressions of the interior were that it was way too brightly lit inside with sparse tables which looked a bit dystopian. The bar looked uninviting with sharp edges and severe lights. Our waitress was extremely nice and very very pleasant and attentive. She was a definite highlight. Once sat, we ordered a beer and browsed the menu. We noticed that the menu was pretty scaled back from the menu I saw posted online for their Lafayette locations. My girlfriend ordered boneless wings with garlic parmesan sauce and waffle fries, which are the only fries they have. I ordered bone-in wings in honey garlic sauce with, again, waffle fries. The food was hot and fresh. Her boneless wings had plenty of sauce which was great. Very buttery, cheesy and garlicky. No complaints with the sauce! My wings were big and meaty. The sauce coverage wasn't as thorough as her wings but it was OK. Both types of wings were OK. Nothing special. A step above Applebee's. Very much Sysco or US Foods standard frozen stuff. Not bad but not living up to the hype. Today we visited the West Lafayette location. Much different atmosphere. Very much a better, dark and warm vibe inside. Food was slightly better as well with a lot of items that aren't available at the Brownsburg location. I will leave a review for that location separately. All in all, the Brownsburg Walt's was painfully average. Once the novelty of a new restaurant in town wears off, I don't see this location surviving unless they step it up almost everywhere. I ordered a carry out order. The second sides were missing for all three meals, but I was already home and didn't want to go back. The food was okay. Not much flavor. The waffle fries would have been good if they were crispy instead of chewy. When I came to pick up my order, it was not very busy. A lot of the workers were just standing around and talking, so it seemed like I was interrupting their conversation. What really sealed the deal for me to never come back was the dishonesty and the lack of accountability from their own management. I left a tip on my card, as I used to work in a restaurant and I understand that tips help. Apparently, the worker did not think it was enough, so they added to it. My card was charged more than I signed off on. I contacted management As soon ans I noticed it on my account. Instead of apologizing, the manager, Kimberly Stein acted as though she could care less and made a terrible excuse for the employee that basically committed credit card fraud. I let it be, as I am not going to argue with someone that clearly does not understand customer service or basic business ethics. Be forewarned! Don't waste your time or hard earned money! Went to Walt's to try it on because why not. We likely won't be back. The interior for a building that's never been used looks brand new as expected, but all the baseboards and finishing isn't done and an entire space is closed off that looks to be like an event room. The lighting is borderline ridiculously too bright. There's track lighting all around the perimeter and then chandeliers. The chandeliers look nice but it's too much. It comes across like a doctor's office rather than a restaurant, and it was a cloudy gloomy day today. The food had highs and lows. Two at our table got the teriyaki bowl and they were huge and delicious. Two got smash burgers and one was smashed properly but overcooked and the other wasn't smashed at all so it was slightly under done. I tried a Midwest salad with steak and on spinach. I didn't get spinach and I couldn't find the bacon bits or bleu cheese crumbles until after I'd had a few bites. It was under the lettuce I hadn't ordered. So a vigorous stir helped the lettuce and steak salad to be an actual salad but my steak was overdone and dry, the dressing was bland and it just wasn't anything better than ok. The lettuce was clearly from an entire head because I got two big pieces of the center stem in my salad too. Then I got the bill. For sure not $20 when I can get almost the same thing at a grocery store for much less. Service was dreadful to be honest. We saw our server when she took our order and then two more times when she brought the food and when she brought the check. If it hadn't been for the other waitresses we would not have gotten refills and any attempt to send my salad back since it was incorrect was out the window because we flat didn't see her for almost 10 minutes so I just ate it. She saw I didn't eat much and asked if something was wrong somewhat rudely. That did it for me and her demeanor upset the others as well. Disappointing because I've been to other Walt's locations and love the one in West Lafayette. This one needs a lot of work to even consider a return. read more

I went here with some friends and didn't have the best time. Almost all the food was off in some way. The fries were way too greasy, and just gross to look at. The burger had all the seasonings in the center, so all the flavor was absent on the exterior. We got an old fashioned from the bar and it wasn't mixed well. After all was said and done we divided up the check and the waitress charged both bill only the same card. It was not a pleasant experience. read more

So after reading about their breaded tenderloin and viewing the posted pictures I entered the restaurant optimistic but have to report I left disappointed. The tenderloin was cut thick enough but the breading added no flavor and the cut of pork was about the same size as the bun. I sat at the bar and found the bar surface too tall for the bar stools (or should I say the stools were too short for the construction of the bar). It's uncomfortable to eat at the bar. I had one draft beer and one bottled beer with my sandwich. The bottled beer was very cold but the draft was not. I do agree with other reviewers that the environment was clean and new. I did not find the service staff very responsive especially since there were very few tables in use. Overall I could not recommend Walt's to my fellow Breaded Tenderloin chasers. read more
