Do not let them do the $79.00 "inspection"! They found an actual problem (small drip from very old…read moregalvanized water pipe). We got bids on a "pex" replacement and when we told them theirs was too high the bid was magically lowered. We were the fools who took the lowest bid. What we thought was a "repiping" of our house turned out to be a "partial repiping." So the drip was fixed but a lot of old galvanized piping remains. And here's the bad news: the new pex piping was inadequately attached to the floor joists under the house and the installer removed many sections of furnace ducting to work down there and run the new piping. So we found that one of our heater registers had no heat/no attachment to the furnace duct! Hot air blowing into the crawl space.... So we have paid someone to reattach the piping and the ducts. And when the "new piping" was done I subscribed to the annual maintenance agreement. This is a total scam! No work is done under this agreement. It is only an opportunity for Albert Nahman "technicians" to try to up sell various filters and improvement systems. And the "inspector" missed the heating duct problem.... Avoid the big yellow truck! Do not let these guys into your house!

Zalman secured the necessary permit from Contra Costa County and followed the project through till the county signed off on a final inspection. The cost of the job came in as estimated, and the crew completed the work with no loose ends within the week they said the project would take. After the wiring was done Berkeley Electric patched our walls and thoroughly cleaned up. Zalman also suggested some upgrades we had not considered earlier. One, for example, was adding an electric car charger to the garage wiring. Another was installing safety lights, which we did. We cannot recommend Berkeley Electric highly enough. I would hire them again without hesitation. The good news, however, is that the job Berkeley Electric did was so satisfactory that we should never have to rewire again. QC referred us to Harry Clark Heating and Air Conditioning for a complete upgrade to replace our gas furnace. HC owner Don Marshall spent an hour and a half assessing the existing heating system in our 1908 home, answering all our questions and providing a detailed quote for a two zone system the next day. After reviewing the quote with QuitCarbon, we decided the price was competitive and chose not to get other bids. I should mention that I'm a licensed mechanical engineer and have lots of experience working with contractors. He was very tidy wearing shoe covers and after climbing his ladder to get into my attic, he was able to determine that it wasn't the pilot light that was the issue with my furnace, but it was simply turned off. He turned it on and then went to work installing my smart thermostat. After he got it installed, he showed me how to adjust the settings. Finally he also examined my living room fireplace and showed me where the switch was inside the panel to turn it on. He was clean and efficient and I'm very happy with the service.
