A great family owned business that has been around forever. They have a friendly staff, a great salad bar but the real standout is the pizza. They are famous for their double decker pizza and I have to say its the best item on their menu. The salad bar is wonderful and the croutons are killer! The pizza has always been hot, the toppings are generous and the crust is quite good. The wait staff is friendly, helpful and mostly attentive. I've been several times and always enjoy myself. You have to wait a little while for attention but the place is hopping and I believe it's adequate service. I ordered delivery and the lady said it would be about 45 minutes, no problem there. The delivery guy then showed up an hour and twenty minutes later, still wasn't upset, but when I went to eat the food the pizza and the bread sticks were cold. Cold like they were cooked as soon as I ordered and they just let it sit there. I can handle a long wait places get slammed I get it but I just would like my food to be at least warm when it gets to me. Very disappointing no reason to come back. read more

A great atmosphere and very good pizza. Admittedly, I'm not a fan of anything aside from their double decker pizza; I've had their normal pizza on their lunch buffet and it's just average. The food was passable and the service pleasant, but the place could use a really good cleaning. Beyond the tons of decorations collecting dust, there had been a bad spill of food in our dining area before we arrived and no one even attempted to clean it up. Food is ok (all you Chicago folks, the double decker pizza is not at all like a deep dish pizza, don't let anyone give you that comparison), prices are ok, music is great, plenty of parking and friendly staff. I can see how this place is popular in the area; however, I was very concerned about the cleanliness of the place. The table busing cart was disgusting, and frankly it freaked me out that all the tables were being wiped down with the cloth on that cart. When drinks were left on tables and the table was bused they were dumped into a massive bucket... in order to dump them, however, they were dumped over the actively used water pitcher. There was caked dust on a lot of surfaces in the restaurant. Customers were encouraged to reuse their salad bowls at the salad bar if they wanted seconds... frankly, I never would have ordered the salad bar if I knew this was the case. Overall the place has decent potential but needs a thorough cleaning and someone really needs to rework the table busing system / clean that disgusting busing cart in the back room. read more

I would agree with most, the pizza is fairly good but is inconsistent and a bit overpriced, still the best I've found in Marion.

I used to eat food from Walt's often. It wasn't entirely to my taste, but it wasn't bad. A tad heavy, tasted like purchased sausage pellets -- but nothing horrible. Then, one night, I called in to order to go. Apparently my Mastercard was rejected, which was weird as I had cash in the account. I asked the person on the phone for the rejection code that appears on the little blue screen they use, so I could call my card provider and see what's what. And the guy on the phone said flat out "No". I asked to speak to the manager, and he said, "I Am the manager, and I don't have time for this." And the line went dead -- he'd hung up. I've worked in restaurants for years and I completely get what a rush is like. But hey -- all the guy had to do was read a four digit number. And the hang-up? Never ever again. read more

Double decker pepperoni is great and a must for first timers. Thin crust is just as good or better. Steaks, calzone, pastas, salads, and sandwiches are all very good. Salad bar is great if you're eating inside (can't get it on the patio). Beer is cold, drinks are good. Lunch buffet is also very good at a decent price. We were told about Walt's by the receptionist at the Best Western in Marion. What a fun place to relax and enjoy a meal after a long day driving. The pizza was excellent and the service was great. I would definitely eat here again and highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good pizza. We actually stopped on the way home for another excellent pizza! Never ever again. Me and my husband got there 10 min before they close so we order Togo. We got home the doe on our pizza was not cooked, it was white and vary doughy.I call the next day and asked for the manager, I was hung up on , I called back the manager told me she did not believe me and hung up on me . called back and everyone that answered the phone hung up in my face . worst customer service ever I will not waste my money there again I'll go to Marcos next time or get frozen that's what it tasted like anyways read more

We went there with our family- a group of 6. We asked to sit outside and it smelled like cigarettes. The server came up to take our order- and informed us children were not allowed outside because people smoked out here. We said we had no children but wanted to order the salad bar. The server informed us you can't have salad bar out on the patio either. She offered to move us- so we picked up and moved to a new table. I ordered the chicken nachos and asked for them to be crispy and brown. The server came back and told me the kitchen manager said they microwave their nachos and he would not bake them to make them crispy. I asked to talk to a manager. The server came back and said the manager and gone to the bank and would come over when she returned. Our food came out- as did the microwaved nachos- and I told the server I do not want them if they were microwaved. The sausage sub was ordered and the bread also had been microwaved to the point it was too hard to bite- white in color and hard as can be. The garlic bread was the same- nothing baked except the chicken pizza which was very good. Still no manager available. When everyone was done eating, the manager appeared and pretty much said she can't tell the kitchen manager what to do- I explained I have been coming to this Resturant about weekly over the past 3 months and had gotten the nachos baked in the past. She told me I would need to call Walter- she removed the item from our bill, never offering anything else to me since I was not going to eat the microwaved nachos. My ranch dressing had a mosquito in it and the brick hard sub sand which was given a 20% off. I called the next day- Walter was not in and they told me to call back at 10:30. I called again, spoke to another manager and her said he would give Walter my name and phone number to call me back. I explained, I don't want microwaved food and if that is how it's going to be prepared- just let me know so I won't come there anymore. ( I was also told by another source that most of the food was microwaved and most of the staff was leaving to go to a competitor that was opening) To date I have not gotten a call back- I would not be here writing this review if he had called me back and just heard my concerns. I don't want a free meal- I want him to know that people want good quality food that is prepared the way they want it. In the Resturant Buiness - the customer service factor is very important- and hearing what people want keeps you in Buiness! We will not return to Walts! read more

My family had the famous double decker pizza (supreme) and were very pleased. I do not like supreme pizza so I tried the steak Asiago and garlic ravioli and it was phenomenal. Stopped at Walt's Pizza while on a road trip down south. What an amazing outdoor patio with big screen TV's, heat lights and hanging lights which gives it great ambiance. Nachos are great, wedge salad with blue cheese dressing is superb and nice tart margaritas. Although there is a huge menu of items from appetizers to sandwiches to steaks, we had to try their famous pizza. Their thin crust cheese and sausage pizza was excellent. And their double decker? After hearing about this restaurant we decided to drive the more then an hour to visit. We got there at 2:50 p.m. on Saturday. We ordered by 3:00 p.m. I am alergic to olives (which I stated to the waitress) so we ordered 1/2 of a double decker with green and black olives on half of it and added tomatoes to the whole thing. After sitting there for 40 minutes the waitress finally came over and told us that they burned our pizza but they were putting another one in and we would have it in 10 minutes. At 4:00 p.m. they finally brought out a pizza with green olives over the entire thing, black olives on half of it and no tomatoes. We ended up getting up and leaving. We will never go there again.
