When the bulb on my 12-year old rear projection TV died for the second time, my first thought was to just replace it. I called around and found a local store that stocked the bulb I needed at Walt's TV and Repair on Ruby Drive in Tempe, AZ. They were close, so I drove straight there to purchase it. That's when I met Miles who had the new bulb sitting on his desk in the box ready for me to buy. But as we talked, he proceeded to explain to me (in great detail) why he thought that replacing the bulb was a bad idea. Now, I'm not a total dummy when it comes to home theater electronics, but when Miles started talking it was obvious he was way ahead of me in this area. I appreciated his technical expertise and willingness to be frank with me. I had to smile while we were talking as I realized he was literally talking me out of purchasing a $250 bulb. But that's Miles - his honesty was refreshing and needless to say we ended up discussing other options. I wasn't necessarily looking for a new TV at that time but he helped me find a gem of a unit that had been discounted because of a small scratch on the back, and I walked out with a heck of a deal on a new Samsung QLED with full factory warranty. Long story short, for the next week or so I ended up going back to Walt's TV half a dozen times in the process of upgrading my entire home theater system. Aside from the TV I ended up purchasing 2 subwoofers, a DVD player, and a new Pioneer receiver. Walt's is a great place to buy hardware, but the primary reason I now do all my electronics business with them is Miles. Great support before and after the sale and just a super nice guy! I called Walt's TV to try and purchase a TV. Their website stated that they had multiple in stock. There were other websites that were selling them for cheaper so i called and asked if they price matched, and the man that answered the phone told me that they did. He also told me that they had multiple in stock and that they would be able to ship it to me. When he checked the other websites that had it in stock and saw that the price was much lower, he then proceeded to lie to me telling me that they actually only had one in stock and someone already left a $100 deposit and was not able to sell it to me anymore. Terrible customer service, and lying to not sell a product because you don't want to follow your own store policy of price matching is not okay.i read more

They maybe fine for a new purchase but for as repairs I would pass. They seem to price the repair cost just under the cost of a new TV. They wanted $380.00 to swap out a motherboard and $490.00 for a new TV. Found a motherboard for $45.00 and ten minutes of work I have a perfectly working TV. read more

I am posting this review to share my disappointment with Walt's TV. On 8/21 I purchased a 65 inch 4K tv, which I received on 8/27. Had the TV set up and mounted and really liked the TV. On 9/30, the TV went bad, the picture was cloudy, the main images were pixelating, the motion was so blurry I couldn't watch a baseball game. I called Walt's that night and spoke to Ed who told me the warranty was 10 days. Not according to their warranty posted on Amazon which stated 30 days for any reason. I asked to have the Tv returned and I would gladly purchase a different TV from them. Chris called me the next day and said he had to discuss it with management. I sent him many pictures of the defects in the Tv but he said they were from a digital camera so they didn't matter. I spent nearly 3K on this Tv and it is the 3rd Tv I purchased from them. I have also recommended many friends and family members who have purchased Tv's from them. Now, They won't even respond to my Emails at all. Very poor customer service. I don't feel they are being reasonable at all in this matter. I am not asking for anything for free, just a product that works. I would definitely not recommend them for any products.. I have also informed the manufacturer of this Tv as Walt's is considered an authorized reseller of their products. I will update this review if anything changes so I can be fair to Walt's should they reconsider.j read more

What a nightmare! You will regret your purchase from Walt's unless everything goes perfectly. Here is what happens when it doesn't- and things usually do not go perfectly. I ordered an 84 inch LG TV from Walt's, let them debit a bit over $8,000 from my bank and two weeks later a nonfunctioning 84 inch TV was delivered. I had paid for the white glove delivery and was so excited when they finally delivered my TV. The courier stated that it may damage the TV (Damage my $8,000 TV-no!!) if it was turned on before it warmed up to near room temperature. They adamantly informed me that if the temperature was below 51 degrees F (and it was in the low 30's that morning) They were not allowed to turn on the TV and if I did it may damage it and that would be my fault. So I did not want to damage my TV nor did I want to do anything that might void my warranty and make me culpable for that damage. So I did what most responsible professionals would do - I waited about 2 hours and then plugged it in. Guess what? I had no viewable picture. Just lines, I read all the instructions and closely scrutinized the startup procedure. No picture. I called Walt's TV and spoke with Orlando informing him what happened. He immediately blamed me for signing for the received TV before I had turned it on. Repeating "I told you to test it out before signing for it. He did not say anything that could remotely be interpreted as that!! I would have called him immediately upon delivery if he had. He blamed me!! He also blamed the courier, stating that they lied as a ploy to not take responsibility for that damaged product. He essentially said that the courier knew that they had damaged the TV and they just wanted to con me. I have been coned all right but by Walt's TV not the couriers trying to do their job. Many phone calls later and many assurances from Orlando at Walt's TV that as soon as the defective TV was picked up (Walt's did arrange this) I would be shipped a working 84 inch TV. What happened next?, The defective TV was picked up uneventfully, I called Walt's TV and Orlando told me that once he confirmed pick up the new TV would be shipped out the next day. I waited three days and still no tracking number. I called Orlando back and now he said that he must wait to actually receive the defective TV- I Guess so they can hopefully find a way to blame me. I had already sent Orlando many pictures of everything, the front and back of the TV, the lines on the screen, all side of the box, and the room it was in (my Den). They continue to keep my $8,000+, they have confirmation of the returning defective TV and many pictures as requested. This is NOT customer friendly but IS greedy, unwilling to take responsibility, and deceitful- much like my 2 y/o. God what a mistake it was to buy from Walt's . I deeply regret that I did. I remain $8,000 poorer. No TV, now faced with hiring an attorney and spending $3,000 minimum to get my TV- or foolishly believing what they now say and becoming surprised when it is proven to be yet another lie. It would have been MUCH less stressful and cheaper to go order it from Best Buy. You have been warned! read more

We've been using Walts for the past 4 years or so. First time was for a service call when our big screen TV went out and we needed service; Walt's was recommended by the chain we bought the original set. When we learned the price of repairing the "mother board" we decided to go with a new set recommended by the technician which I realize was not the best way to go - and when they installed it and I was unhappy with the quality, they said no problem, come down to the store and select one more to your liking. We did, they swapped it out. True, the store is not one with all the bells and whistles that will knock you off your feet - but they have a good sampling, the salesmen know the merchandise and what they can get that's not on the floor and we've subsequently bought a few more sets from them, one for my kitchen very easily over the phone - in addition to a having repairs made on our sound system and a new universal remote., services I wasn't even certain they provided until I recently called to inquire. The service techs are prompt (for the most part, arriving within the promised hour) and efficient at explaining how the devices work. They appear to be competitive cost-wise and much easier to contact than several other companies offering similar repair services. We've also bought service contracts on all three subsequent TVs we've purchased from them -and have found their customer service to be helpful and courteous at all times. Walked in to get advice on an HD antenna for my TV. Asked the rude dude with the baseball cap sitting at front desk about getting an antenna. He informed me that he could do one for $200. Didn't even asked about my circumstance. I informed him I lived in an apartment. He gave a snippy answer of "just use paper clips". Didn't care one iota about helping me. I could have been in there to spend thousands of dollars on a TV. I would have walked right out. Won't go back and won't recommend. read more

Our 8 year old TV just quit working. We called Walt's to schedule a service call and they asked if I could use a screw driver, if so they could save me some money. They said they were pretty sure it was the bulb, gave me directions on removal and said if I brought it in they would test it for free. It was very simple to remove and when I took it in they were helpful, quick and confirmed that it was the bulb. I purchased a new one and for the price of a bulb and a little time my TV works great! Found out they had a store in town and went down and spoke to Steve. He found me the. Tv I was looking for and delivered it the next day. Dropped off my high end Samsung LCD for repair and paid my $30 fee for an estimate. Before even describing my TV issue, the service writer said "repairs are expensive" and proceeded to try to sell me a 4K TV for ~$1K+. I was told they would call me Monday (since I dropped it off on a Friday) with a description of the problem and an estimate, OK. Received no call on Monday. Tuesday or Wednesday. Stopped by Wednesday evening and was told they were still trying to identify the problem and the tech would call me first thing Thursday AM. No call on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. So I again stopped in on Saturday PM. Asked to have my TV back so I could just move on. Of course I was told at that time that the TV was disassembled and they would call Monday AM at which time I could then pick it up. No call on Monday. Called Walt's myself on Tuesday saying I would be in to pick it up. Picked the TV up and returned home with the exact same issue which they "could not replicate" in their shop??? Dust on the rear side did not appear to have been disturbed??? Wonder if they just collect their $30 fee and then they say a week+ later that they cant find the problem? And, the next step is, they say "I have a deal for you" right over here. My experience is that Electronic repair service and communication is simply not available at Walt's. Wow! What fantastic service and price! I was looking for a Samsung 65 inch 8000 series and did all the usual checking online with Amazon, Best Buy and Frys's Electronics. I decided to give Walts a call but didn't expect them to be any better in pricing than the "big boys". I bought a TV from Walts years ago and had a great experience then so thought I would at least give them a shot. Matthew answered the phone (very cool and easy going) and I gave him the specifics of the TV I was looking for and he gave me an instant quote over the phone that was far better than I had expected. I asked him if they could deliver it (expecting him to give me a delivery fee and at least a 3 day wait period) and he said he could "Have it delivered within two hours and there is no cost." I was like is this for real? Is this too good to be true? I told Matthew "Ok, let's do the deal" and was half waiting for him to say "I'm sorry I miss quoted the price and our delivery truck won't be available until next week but that fortunately didn't happen and I was so pleasantly surprised when we had completed the credit card transaction. So then I waited, thinking I bet they call me back with some bad news or some issue. But within one hour of my purchase I received a call from the Walt's delivery team saying they would be at my house in about 20 to 30 minutes. Sure enough 25 minutes later my door bell rings and guess who's at the door? It was Matthew with my brand new TV! Wow, I was blown away that they sent the salesman to over see the delivery. Matthew and a technician brought the TV in and unboxed and tested the TV right there. I can't believe what a great experience it was buying a TV from Walts. I really mean it. I'm not just saying this and seldom write reviews but this experience was so amazing, so rare, that I had to write a review and share with folks thinking about purchasing from Walts. Any way thank you to Walts TV, Matthew and technician (sorry, don't remember his name) for such an amazing purchase. I also feel better knowing I supported a local company than Amazon. I do love Amazon but have been getting a guilty feeling lately using them. Support your local business's if possible. PS- I LOVE my new TV and my kids can't believe how amazing the picture is. They have had my TV for about 3 days shy of 1 month. When their service guys came to pick it up, they charged me $100, and said that I would hear back from them within 3 days, and that it would take about 1 week to finish the repair. Almost 2 weeks went by (still no word from them), and I finally called the shop only to find out that the TV was still not repaired. I don't think they even ordered the part yet. After waiting 2 more weeks, I received a phone call letting me know that they couldn't repair the TV, and the guy wanted me to use the $100 I already paid towards the purchase of a new TV. I asked him why he thought I would want to spend more money with them after they took a month to tell me they couldn't do the job I initially hired them to do, the guy hung up on me. I called back to speak with the owner (to let him know that I wasn't pleased about being hung up on), but have yet to receive a return call. These guys do NOT keep their word. I was interested in buying a SHARP 80" TV model LC-LE80650U, I looked at Best Buy and the TV was priced at $3,299.00 and was sold out on-line. Waited for the product to return and two weeks later in was in stock but at ridiculous price of $5,999.00. I inquired about it by calling customer service. They informed me that it was a third party retailer. I was provided the information and looked it up. Read great reviews about the company. As a customer I felt that I could reach out to them and ask why the huge price difference. When in fact SHARP has the MSRP at $3,599.00 and on sale for $2,999.00. The only problem is SHARP doesn't sell it from their website. Which to me doesn't make sense to have it and price it but not offer it. But back to Walt's TV. I expected an email from the sales team. In which I never received. Instead I go back to their web page a day later and the same TV that inquired about is now...... Wait for it..... $7,999.00, what! What kind of scam is that? I mean that's nearly $5,000.00 increase on a TV that is no where valued at the suggested price. How can a company that strives it self on customer satisfaction resort to price gouging. We had used Walt's in the past to fix a couple of t.v.s that had needed to be repaired, and we had been happy with them and the service they provided. However, this time when our t.v. broke it was a whole other story. We took it in and they charged us the $30 to take a look at it, which was fine. Two days later, they told us that it couldn't be repaired because they couldn't get the parts anymore. They told us that we could put the $30 onto a new t.v. bought there. We told them that we would be in on Saturday. So, my husband and I went back in yesterday, and they were very rude to us. The guy couldn't seem to be bothered to get up from behind his desk and show us some new t.v.s. He told us that he had just a small selection of small t.v.s because there was no money in them, and we couldn't see any of those because they were still in the boxes. We didn't tell him that we had to have a small t.v., and we were actually in the market for a bigger one, but he didn't seem interested in showing anything to us. We finally walked out, and ended up going to Best Buy and buying a 48" t.v. there. That was a sale that he could have made, but he couldn't be bothered. We will never do business there again. I ordered the TV from Walt's TV and the day after I get an email saying I must send them a secondary phone number to discuss their delivery policy so I replied with two phone numbers and I called them from both phones and left voicemails. I call today and I am told my TV will be delivered curb side....... WTF ??? He said if there's any damage to the box make a note of it on the slip you have to sign. I said I would send a picture if I saw damage also I ask about curb side, not even to my door. I told him when I placed the order it is supposed to be delivered into my home, removed from box and box taken with driver. I was told NO, that's white glove service which cost $150. I ask how much the TV weighed ( I already knew) and he said with the pallet it would be ??? it was brush off from then on. The TV was paid for and supposed to be delivered today but he said up to 2 weeks ? I bought the TV via Walmart and it was shipped and said it would be here Sept 7th. He ask if I wanted to cancel, I said yes cancel. I have entire conversation recorded as soon as I was hung up on 3 times prior to getting customer service. I plan on contacting Walmart Corporate to let them know their venders are making them look bad and as a stockholder who needs to deal with liars, I have email he sent, my reply. Also printouts of by phones calling that 480 number with time and date, same as email. I can honestly say I will never shop at Walt's TV again. I just had my second worst customer service experience in my life. I bought a 55 inch Toshiba from Walt's less than 2 years ago, spending over $900 on it. It came highly recommended by them. The main board already went out in it. When I called Walt's they told me on the phone that an estimate is $30, but this amount would go toward the cost of the repair. They said for an additional $30, they would pick it up and also deliver it back after the repairs were completed. Their estimate come out approximately $100 more than the other 2 repair shops I called. Gabe, the person responsible for calling me with the estimate, was indignant when I asked what the breakdown of the estimate was (parts/labor). He told me they did not provide that information until after the repair was completed. He would have to check with the service guy. What?? This seemed so ridiculous to me. I had already called Toshiba to get the price of the part, so knowing the breakdown was important to me, so I could see why their estimate was so high. He also said he was sorry that I was told that $30 of the $60 I paid would go toward the repairs. He told me that this was not the case. So, basically, they were asking $65 more in labor than other shops I called and they charged me $60 to pick it up and give me an estimate, none of which they would apply toward the repair cost, despite what I had been told up front. Gabe, quite honestly needs a course in customer service. He told me, he would talk to his manager to see what he could do for me. Despite promising to call me back later that day, he never did. I ended up calling him and telling him just to bring my TV back to me. I basically am out $60 and several days without a TV with no progress on my repair. What a waste! I come from a long line of family members that have been longtime Walt's customers. I, myself, bought 2 TV's from them in the last 2 years.
