I have to admit, I was not looking forward to having my hair and makeup done at all. I am not someone who wears much makeup normally, and in the past, having that done meant I could feel products sitting on my skin, I didn't feel like myself, and I couldn't wait to get home so I could take it off. I was SO wrong. Angela's style is fresh, natural and beautiful. The best part is, you don't have to tell her that is what you want. If you browse through her portfolio, you'll see that she has a way of making people look beautiful, but they still look like themselves, not someone who is overwhelmed with makeup. She is also the master of natural braids, up-dos, and beachy waves. I was so nervous about my hair staying in place on my wedding... not only was it perfect, but it stayed that way all night. The makeup done in my first trial was so incredibly bad that it aged me at least 15 years. I looked pale, matte and tired. It was crazy! My first reaction after that was that I was going to do my own makeup for my wedding, but I truly didn't want to. After research and intuition I found Lisa. Not only was she the best communicator, but she was so incredibly reassuring that she understood what I was looking for and would not make me look like I did at the first trial. Being from SF I had no time for a make-up trial with her, but she did squeeze me in the day before the wedding to play with my hair and talk colors for makeup. Upon meeting her I hugged her. I just knew I was in the right hands. Hair trial super sweet and effortless, she knew exactly what to do based on what I wanted. The next morning she was right on time. She made my maid of honor look like she'd stepped out of a 1940s Vogue Magazine (my wedding was old timey). Then me - I am in tears thinking about it. I'd only had about 4 hours of sleep (brain would not shut off the night before!). Not only did I look awake, but absolutely flawless, the RIGHT colors in the right places, glowy, dewy, just spot on. My hair was also pretty heavily colored treated (at home by me via box dyes ). I met with Rachel who absolutely knocked it out of the park. She's also so sweet and so incredibly nice. I previously had another makeup artist lined up months before my wedding. But about two months before the wedding day, this other makeup artist had to cancel due to some understandable reasons. This lead me to frantically contact multiple makeup artists near the Sacramento and Oroville area. Luckily for me, the moment I talked to Olivia on the phone, I knew I wanted her to be my makeup artist. Just over the phone she sounded so sincere and helpful. I quickly scheduled a makeup trial a few weeks before my wedding day. Olivia drove out to Oroville for the bridal makeup trial. She was very attentive as to the kind of bridal look I wanted and even suggested a few things when I didn't know what style/color to choose. When I was done with the makeup trial, I was more at ease with my wedding planning because I knew I had found a great makeup artist. I even went to a makeup store after our trial and bought a lot of products she used and recommended. She just gives off that trustworthy (and cool) vibe. As for the day of my wedding, she was amazing! She met my maids-of-honor for the first time and was really quick to know what foundation color and style to do for them. She was also so much fun! She felt like a friend joining us with our girl talk and laughter. She even helped one of my maids-of-honor with her hair. She went above and beyond. Oh! I should also mention she uses air brush foundation. I was having an outdoor wedding and the air brush foundation felt really light and it didn't drip off my face during my 2 p.m. (90 degrees) spring ceremony. Yay! Number 1, she's very friendly and crochets, so Toni, Glenda, and I had a lot in common! We yakked the whole time and it was very pleasant, indeed. Number 2: instead of painting my toes and then having me try to snake my feet into my flip flops, she had me put my feet into the flip flops first. Then she tore a paper towel in half, tore a slit in each half and slid them under my feet so she wouldn't paint the sandals! How clever is that? The other thing she did was instead of soaking my feet, then using the "cheese grater" on the callouses, she used a 180 grit emery board on my dry feet (I don't have heavy callouses. If I did, she would've used a heavier grit). They turned out nice and smooth! I will definitely drop in even if I don't need a pedi and say, "Hi!"
