Something true about big guys being teddy bears. My wifre and I were treated professionally and respectfully, No hassels. I don't think that I went to the same Wantagh Mazda as the positive reviewers did. I had gotten a good quote from Huntington Mazda, for a 2020 CX-5, along with an offer to buy my low-mileage, expiring 2017 CX-5 (21,000 miles on a 36,000 mile lease). However, based on the positive reviews of Wantagh Mazda, I decided to go in for a additional quote. I arrived at 2:15, for an pre-arranged appointment, met the salesperson and was still sitting there at 3 p.m. while the manager was still trying to get approval to purchase my previous lease. I never did get a quote and finally walked out. The salesman was nice enough, but was clearly unable to do anything without running back and forth to talk to the manager, who minimized my long wait by saying that I'd only been there for "20 minutes." (The reason that I'm describing this manager specifically is that I wanted to make sure that another manager didn't get wrongly blamed for this bad experience.) I had, and continue to have a great experience here. When I first came in, I was approached immediately by sales personnel and assisted professionally with no high pressure tactics. Phil, the salesman, was friendly, helpful and very knowledgable about his products. I had previously shopped around for the best local rate I could get on a new car loan, and they even beat that rate with Mazda financing. (Although truthfully, only by .01). I purchased a 2013 CX-5, and am very happy with it. It performs excellently, is fuel efficient, and is an extremely comfortable ride! All the accessories are state of the art and add to the pleasure of driving it. I held off on reviewing this place until after I had brought it back for the first 2 scheduled maintenance services so I could review that aspect too. I never drove a Mazda or know anyone with a Mazda but I decided to give it a try because I am so tired of all the other local dealers- such pushy sales people. I made an appointment on-line for the very same day. When I arrived, my salesperson was still working with a client but he came over as well as the manager to thank me for my patience and offered me coffee or water. Already I liked this place- did not ignore me. I met with Josh. He was the perfect salesman. Not pushy. Not arrogant. Just a down to earth friendly person. Took the car for a test drive. I purchased a Mazda 3 about 4 months ago and all and all my experience was good. I was given a fair price, and the car I bought was very hard to find. They found it for me and everything was good. Recently I hit a pothole and destroyed one of the custom rims on the front passenger side. As unbelievable as it seems it took Mazda 3 weeks to finally get the rim to Wantagh Mazda as it was on back order. Patty the parts manager and the gentlemen in the parts department we're very sympathetic and did their best to expedite the rim. In the end the rim was over nighted and they mounted it at no charge. Although I am disappointed with a back order of a critical component and I will definitely think twice before ordering my next car with custom rims I am very happy with Wantagh Mazda. Best. Car-buying-experience. Ever. Filled out a form on Mazda's website to be contacted about purchasing a car, with the expectation that I would never get a response. About 10 min later, to my surprise, I get a response from JoeB. Automated or not, it was nice to get a response. After a couple emails back and forth and a phone call to be sure he knew exactly what I wanted (which was a black Mazda3 i-sport in a manual transmission), Joe emailed back with the exact numbers (down payment and monthly)- which was as advertised online (both on Mazda's website, and their's). I was very surprised we got this far over email. After the first exchange, I was fully expecting a "why don't you come on down and we can chat". I further explained that I'm a current mazda owner, which provided a discount, and Joe immediately offered a lower quote. A little while later, Joe calls back saying that there will be an additional Auto-show discount starting in a couple days, which I'll be able to take advantage of. This lowered my cost even more! I head down the next evening to sign the papers. All the numbers were as discussed. No pressure. No sales pitch. No "extended warranty" pitch (I HATE that one). Now all that had to be done was for them to do a dealer trade to get me the vehicle I wanted. Joe calls the next day, informing me they've found a car/dealer and it will be there in a couple days. I work in NYC, so took the LIRR out to pick up the car after work (they're about 2 blocks away from the Wantagh station). Convenient. Picking up was just as easy. Signed a few papers. All the $$ were still the same. No hidden charges, fees, etc. They packaged everything nicely and even gave me a fancy mazda key chain. I was in and out in about 30 min. Dave was the one to help me, and did a quick run-through of the car for me, since Joe wasn't there. From start to finish this was an awesome experience. Don't let the smallish and "outdated" showroom fool you. They're not about being flashy or putting on a good show. They're there to give you the best car-buying experience you can find. Where to begin? First, my car shopping experience was great. I met with a gentleman named Marino, who was very friendly and forthcoming. My wife and I felt very comfortable and trusting, and ultimately felt like we were getting a good deal on our trade in and on our CX-5. We signed the paperwork, came back a few days later to drop off our Jeep and pick up our new Mazda. Once we came to pick up the vehicle and the check for the equity on our trade-in, we were told by the manager, Phil, that a check was not ready because "the girl" who cuts the checks did not do it during the week, and being that it was a Saturday, she was off. I didn't think this was a problem. Phil gave me the option of coming back to pick up the check or having them mail it. I opted for the latter. A week passes and we do not receive the check so I call up and speak to Phil who assures me the check was delayed because of a family emergency, but it was going to go out that day, and if I didn't receive it in a few days, I should reach out to him. A few days pass and nothing, so I shoot him a text. He tells me to give it a few more days and if I still don't receive it, to reach out to him. A few more days pass and the check still doesn't come. I ask him if they can put a stop payment on this check, cut a new one and I'll pick it up in person, to which he agrees and tells me to come in after the weekend because he's not there to make sure the check gets cut. I tell him I'll be there first thing in the morning, to which he replies to come in during the afternoon, when he will be in the dealership. I thought it was a little strange that when he was there, it was "the girls" responsibility to cut the check, and now that he's not there, "he has to be there to make sure the check gets cut", but I agreed. Phil then texts me a picture of the check that supposedly went out the week prior. Monday morning rolls around, so I text Phil to remind him that I'll be coming in for the check. Phil texts me back telling me he will not be in until the later afternoon and will text me once he gets the check in hand. I am now starting to get weary so I tell Phil that late afternoon is fine, so long as I can go in sometime today to pick up the check. This is when things took a left turn. Phil calls me up with a slight attitude and doesn't allow me to talk. He tells me to let him say what he has to say and then he'll let me talk - "that's how this works." I found this extremely unprofessional but figured I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. He goes on and on about the context of how I'm seemingly treating him unfairly for wanting my check - I let him continue. He finishes talking and I am only able to get 1.5 sentences out of my mouth before Phil starts talking over me again. I start giving him back his line of "you finish, now I talk. Isn't this how this works?" however he is continually talking over me like I'm not even talking....UNBELIEVABLE!! So at this point I'm trying to get a word in, but Phil is now raising his voice. I let him finish and as soon as I start to try and talk again, HE HANGS UP ON ME!! I call back, I tell him he's being unfair because he is not allowing me, A CUSTOMER, to voice my concerns over what seems to me as something strange. Well halfway through this sentence, he's talking over me again and yelling at me. I started feeling like I've been being way too complacent and I'm now starting to worry that I'm being given the run-around for my check. I start to lose my temper and raise my voice before Phil hangs up on me for the second time. I call Phil back and tell him that he is being extremely unprofessional, I'm a customer and I cannot believe that he's treating me like a highschool ex-girlfriend. I tell him this will be the last time I will be calling him back, and if he could please listen to me, as the several weeks that have passed has only been him talking, and nothing from my end. As predicted, Phil starts screaming at me and mentioning his family emergency, and then hangs up on me again. Fed up, I text Phil letting him know that my next call will be to the district/regional manager of Mazda. Surprise surprise, Phil calls me back and tells me I will be hearing from somebody who's at the dealership, regarding my check. 10 minutes later I get a call from a polite gentleman, telling me my check is ready - whenever I decide to come get it. I arrive at the dealership 1 hour later. Phil is still not in, and yet I am able to pick up my check and leave. I still have not received the "original" check in the mail. Maybe it was lost in the mail, maybe not. The issue here is not the delay in me receiving the check, or the issue of me having to go out of my way to drive and pick up the check. The issue here is the way Phil treated me, yelled at me as if I was a child and he was my father. Needless to say, I regret buying from this dealership and will never give them any of my business again. read more

If you're looking to walk into a dealership and be ignored while the salespeople look at you and murmur, then get a sticker price and no discussion, you've found the place! Once we got someone's attention, he made sure to tell us several times that this is the top dealership in the state and how many cars he sells a month, but was not interested in discussing the car in question. Beware of signing on an extended warranty without being aware of the $100.00 deductible that you will have to pay at ANY garage/ service station including any Mazda service center other than the "seller". Which means that you will not be responsible for the deductible ONLY at Wantagh Mazda. I purchased a CX5 from Wantagh Mazda and was very happy with the transaction as long as I dealt with the sale's person. That changed when I had to deal with the financing manager who slipped the deductible into the extended warranty contract without ever mentioning it verbally or in writing. When asked about it he out right lied saying that the deductible is not charged at any Mazda service center throughout the USA. I called Zurich the underwriter of the policy where the representative reiterated that the deductible will be charged at any garage/service station including ALL Mazda stations with one exception: the " seller" which in this case was Wantagh Mazda. What would have been a 5 star transaction turned into an extremely disappointing experience to say the least! read more

When it comes to car dealerships I have to rate Wantagh Mazda 5 stars in all regards. I have owned several new cars over my lifetime and I am not one for the haggling car salesman game. "...tell me approximately what you want to spend a month and we'll go from there...". As many of you know, the experience that should be exciting and pleasurable, is often downright stressful and disrespectful. Six years ago and I had enough wasting my time going from one dealership to the next to get different prices on the same car. Being a well informed buyer I decided to shop by phone. My first phone call was Wantagh Mazda and spoke to a gentleman named Victor. I explain to Victor that I was aware of the MSRP and all of the incentives including the 0% financing that was currently available. I calculated my monthly payment and asked Victor if he can do that in a manual and I was not choosy about the color. He said he would look and call me right back; within five minutes he called me and said not only can he beat Edmunds.com but he rounded the total sale down to the nearest hundred which turned out to be $25 a month less than I expected to pay. I gave him my information, went to the dealership that evening was treated like family by Joe, Kenny, Vinny, and especially Victor. From that day on we developed a relationship rather than a transaction by transaction type of situation. Six years later I just purchased my fourth Mazda from Wantagh Mazda. I am truly impressed by the value you get from the engineering and driving experience from every Mazda vehicle. I am a car enthusiast and an engineering manager by profession.I can honestly say that the pairing of Wantagh Mazda and the Mazda lineup is truly a win-win scenario. Buying a new car "should" be an enjoyable experience, but as we all learn eventually, it can be a complete nightmare. I hate the process. But I have to say in all honesty, this place n the staff completely changed my mind. I dealt with Phil mainly, but several staff members for different purposes. Sales, finance, taking delivery, etc. They helped in one way or another. It was truly the easiest car buying experience I ever had. We bought my fiance a CX5 GT 3 months ago. It was such a nice experience I just went back n bought myself a Mazda6 GT 2 weeks ago. We love our cars n would definitely recommend going here if u want a stress free car buying experience. 2 cars in 3 months? Yes, they gained my support that quickly. And keep in mind my nephew is a sales manager for Toyota. That would have been my easiest route for a great deal, but I happen to love my Mazda's. I previously owned a Mazda3 5 door n an RX8.
