I normally don't write reviews but since Wantagh Mazda went out of the way to help me, I went out of my way to make sure people know that this is the ONLY Mazda dealership you should buy a car from in the tri-state area. I say this out of experience. I dealt with three dealerships in NJ, including the #1 volume dealer in NJ, one in PA and three in NY. Before calling Wantagh Mazda, I almost sealed the deal with a NJ dealer that I've been in negotiations with for almost 3 months. Although they were honest and reputable (a hard to find commodity these days), they wouldn't budge on their price. When I asked about financing, they said that whatever the bank gets back to them with is going to be my rate and is non-negotiable. Finally, when I asked about optional add-ons, they said that they'll wave any labor fees but for the add-ons I would still have to pay MSRP. After all that, I decided to try my luck one last time. I gave Wantagh Mazda a call. A rep by the name of Joe B helped me out. I explained my situation from A to Z and told him what I wanted and what I was willing to pay for it. I gave him a very low number not thinking he'll call me back. To my surprise, I got a phone call from Phil, the store manager. It went something like this: "hi Jacob, this is Phil from Wantagh Mazda. I know you're shopping around for the best price, but I'll tell you why you should buy from us. I want to make you happy and make sure all the numbers sound good to you. Whatever we agree on, I'm going to put in writing. The final number is the final number. No additional destination charges, doc fees or any other fees I just want to make it work." Honestly, I was impressed. No other car dealerships I called expressed as much "care" to make me satisfied as Wantagh Mazda did. But back to the story, Phil explained to me how much the car cost and how much he's making on the back end, then gave me a bottom line number on the car - and surprisingly, it was a whopping $600 less than the other dealership! Then I proceeded to ask about the add-ons. Once he told me that he'll charge me $495 installed for the $1,200 dvd system, I was sold. Doing the math, we're already $1,300 cheaper than the other guys who "wouldn't budge". Then I asked about wheel locks. He said he'll throw them in for free. The other guys were charging $239 for them! Finally, I got into the financing discussion. He asked me what rate I would be comfortable with. I told him 2-2.5%. He said he'll try his best. He ran my credit and called back saying the rate came back at 3.39% but he'll call the finance dept in the morning to get a better rate (it was already late evening). I told him that he could try, but I'm not satisfied at that rate, and that I'd be satisfied at 2.39%. He called me back an hour later saying that he somehow got a hold of someone in financing and promised me a fixed rate of 2.39%! I said I'll take it. I gave him a $250 deposit and a few days later went to pick up the car. Honestly, I was very skeptical. How could one dealership tell me that there's nothing more they can do while Phil is telling me that he'll do his best to get me what I want. I thought that maybe he'll change the rate on me when I get there. Or maybe he'll sell it to me without the add-ons but charge me for it anyway. That was not the case. When I got there, he gave me the keys, showed me around the car (and of course, all the add-ons were installed), put my plates on, and I drove away (after signing the financing paperwork - which of course stated that the interest rate was a mere 2.39%)! Phil From Wantagh promised to make things work out for me. He promised and he delivered. I think all car dealerships should take him as a model example of how to obtain and keep clients. After five long years of car searching and debating with myself whether or not I should purchase new or pre-owned, I discovered the Mazda CX-5 back when it was first released towards the end of 2012. I instantly feel in love with its styling but quickly came to the determination that it was out of my budget, so I test drove a Mazda 3 5-Door and absolutely loved it. I put my car search on hold due to a couple of job layoffs and once getting stable with a new career, I once again decided to look into the Mazda CX-5 and placed an order for a catalog. My father also liked the CX-5 and purchased it from Victor Liantonio and recommended that I meet Victor to discuss new and certified pre-owned vehicles that my be in my budget. Day one of my search I took a ride to Wantagh Mazda with my father and saw a Charcoal Mazda 3 5-Door literally in front of where I parked. The same color, make and model that I test drove a couple years earlier. I initially walked past it because I wanted to discuss a new Mazda CX-5 Sport, but after discussing my budget and past experience Victor convinced me to take the Mazda 3 5-Door for a test drive...I instantly knew it was the car for me. However, being that it was day one of my search, I knew I had to sleep on it and a week later contacted Victor about the car. After a quick conversation on the phone with Victor and a debate with my father; I decided it might be time to "pull the trigger" on the car. I discussed my budget with Victor and how I wanted a remote start and could not believe how easily the negotiations went. He told me that there was a possibility that I may need my father to co-sign and left it up to me if I wanted to take the process further. I did have my hesitations, so Victor asked if I wanted to take if for a test drive again, however I felt comfortable the way the negotiations went, very light haggling, so I decided to solidify my offer and get a determination on my credit and my financing rate. I was very comfortable with the deal Victor had worked out with me and the next step was to meet with Kenny to discuss my financing rate and any extras I wanted to add. Much to my surprise I got an exceptional financing rate and was given two quotes, one with the warranty and one without...the best thing about it was that it was the same rate whether I took the warranty or not. I was at the point where I was happy with the pricing and happy with the financing and could not believe how easily everything went, so I put a deposit on the car so I could discuss the specifics and extras with my father. Ultimately, I got the car I wanted, the extras I desired, and the extended warranty, at a monthly payment I was comfortable with. People may tell you to shop around, but this was the first car purchase I ever made and feel extremely satisfied how everything worked out and this was the first place I went to. I feel that Victor and Kenny went out of their way for me and feel completely comfortable with my purchase. I would recommend Wantagh Mazda to my family and friends and anyone in the market for a new vehicle. I am so happy with my purchase and enjoyed all aspects of my first car buying experience. read more

My girlfriend and I searched many different brands of car dealerships for over 2 weeks. 85% of dealerships wanted to tie a chain around my leg to prevent me from leaving even though when I walked into a dealership, I told the sales rep immediately that I would not be purchasing the same day. A lot of the times, sales reps and finance managers did whatever they could to pressure me into making a quick decision and even got nasty when I refused to purchase the same day. Wantagh Mazda was by far one of the best experiences I have ever had. I called an Uncle who had previously purchased a car from them nearly 5 years ago and highly recommended them. All the staff there were very professional and we experienced NO purchase pressure. They listened to all our needs and made us a deal that worked out very fairly for us since we were on a tight budget (my girlfriend is still in college). I would highly recommend any of my own family and friends to this dealership. I worked with Jonathan Lakrtiz (Certified Master Sales Consultant) who was very knowledgeable and stayed in touch with me without making me feel pressured at all. Philip Puleo (Sales Manager) was also a great help and broke down all the calculations into our lease payments to help us better understand the final cost. Also,the paper work.... Awesome experience. These guys had everything ready to go and probably the quickest, most efficient car leasing experience I have ever had.  Once the paper work was complete, Jonathan Lakritz also took nearly 45 minutes to go over every single feature of the car. He in no way rushed us and answered every single question we had.  I am a firm believer in, "You can pay for school, but you can't buy class." These guys are professional, provide great quick service, and make you feel like an individual instead of just a  number. In today's world, finding this type of quality customer service is almost impossible, especially in the high pressure world of car sales. My wife and I decided to go to Wantagh Mazda to test drive the 2020 Mazda 6 Grand Touring on Thursday, February 20, 2020. I currently own the 2015 Mazda 3 which only has 25000 miles and still looks new. Since I was going to give the car to my brother as a gift, it motivates me more to go to Wantagh Mazda for the test drive. When we reach the dealer, I was not panning of purchasing a vehicle that same day. I thought of coming back the following week to take advantage of the Mazda incentives which expire on March 2, 2020. Once at the dealer, we met Victor Liantonio one of the salesmen at the dealership who was on the floor of the showroom. Our first impression of Victor was very positive as I told him of my wish to test the 2020 Mazda6 Grand Touring which I had the pleasure of doing that afternoon. Once we returned from the test drive, we sat down with Victor to discuss the drive and I ask him what is the best deal he can offer me. Victor was very honest and straightforward as we went over the figures. He never pressured me in buying the car, as it was my decision to do so. At the end, I decided to put a deposit and purchased the beautiful and powerful Mazda 6 Grand Touring Turbo. I returned a few days later to pick up the car and Victor was kind enough to pick me at home on his way to work. Victor is a great salesman at Wantagh Mazda and a kind person as well. He's a great addition to the dealership and I will definitely recommend him to my friends. He made my decision in purchasing this vehicle effortlessly and the experience was a positive one. With our 2006 Chrysler minivan having seen better days, my wife and I started scoping out vehicles a few months ago and had basically narrowed our choices down to the Honda CRV and Mazda CX-5. After doing some internet research, we were really leaning toward the Mazda. Then, after being literally ignored at another dealer, we ventured in to Wantagh Mazda on a very busy Saturday. Earlier in the day I had emailed Wantagh Mazda while doing some online research and received a call from Joe Bonavita. We discussed our situation a bit and he said to just come on down whenever we were ready. Now, I absolutely dread going into a car dealer due to past experiences that have left me feeling really angry toward the dealership. Wantagh Mazda and Joe Bonavita have changed that for me to the point where I cannot wait to go back and purchase or lease my next vehicle! With 5 kids, it won't be long! So we leased the CX-5 Touring and could not be happier. After a test drive and some simple conversation, Joe and the finance manager (also Joe, and also a real gentleman) made the overall deal work to the numbers we needed. There was never any pressure and no obnoxious car dealer games. We signed papers that same day and Joe B shared with us that closing our deal put him at a new personal sales record for the day. I bought a Mazda3 for my daughter on 10/27/2014 from Wantagh Mazda. This was the most pleasant and stress-free experience I've ever had in making an auto purchase. Our salesperson was David Peter Chiarri. From the first visit to the dealership, we felt like we could trust him. He allowed us to take the car for a drive alone. Upon return from the test drive he became interested in knowing what we wanted without making suggestions or pushing us to buy cars from the lot. We decided to buy a 2015 Mazda3 so we placed an order for it. David was upfront with the price and he did not pull any gimmicks. His price was reasonable. He also helped us with incentives (my daughter was a recent college graduate) by calling Mazda USA to confirm our eligibility. He helped us work out the finance while the car was being shipped to the dealership from Japan. When the car arrived, it was exactly as we had ordered it. The dealership arranged for plates and registration and the delivery took place in 45 minutes. Wantagh Mazda is a very good dealership to conduct business with, and the staff is honest and has integrity. They also have a sense of hospitality (they always make daughnuts and coffee available) and don't follow you around the lot while you are checking out cars. Mazda also offers many options in their cars that you can find in luxury automobiles (e.g., state of the art navigation system and roadside assistance for 3 years). read more

I had a wonderful experience purchasing my brand new Mazda 3! I had been thinking of purchasing a new car and, on the recommendation from a friend, went to Wantagh Mazda on President's day basically to 'shop' and not planning on making purchase that day.....but I did. I was treated with kindness and smiles from the moment I walked in the door. Victor, also recommend by the same friend, was wonderful to work with....very friendly and extremely patient with my endless questions.. Even though it was a busy sales day, he never made me feel rushed nor pressured in any way. I was very nervous going in as I was making this purchasing decision on my own. Victor made me feel comfortable every step of the way. During the test drive he pointed out and explained all the safety features of the car which are amazing. By the time we got done with the test drive I was SOLD on this car. I discussed with Victor what extras I wanted, Phil searched and found exactly what I was looking for and had it delivered to the dealership within a couple of days. The purchasing process was finished today when I picked up my new car. Again, Victor took his time explaining how to use all the features and made sure I understood everything. Phil P. hits another home run. Back again Feb. 5, 2016 after my younger son purchased 2014 Blue Reflex mica SkyActiv Mazda 3i Touring Hatch from Phil end of July 2014 and my other son purchased 2015 Meteor Gray Mica Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring on Aug. 23, 2014. We looked at and test drove 2016 CX-5 Touring. Phil recommended the 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 Touring since Mazda added Navigation and heated front seats standard for a few dollars more. Thats a no brainer. A good price was offered to us and a deal was made. Deep Blue Crystal Mica was chosen and Phil spent his time and energy tracking it down. Another easy, pleasant, no hassle sale just like the one we made with Phil back in Nov. 2003 and many more in between. I just took home my first Mazda today. Not only do I love the new 2016 Mazda 6, but this was the best leasing experience I have had. I have been leasing Nissans for the last 12 years and it was time for a change. Our salesman, Victor Liantonio, was a pleasure to work with. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and most of all respectful. There was never a hard sell. He told us about the different models as well as the standard equipment/options for each. He then helped us find the right model/options for the best price. Kenny from finance walked us easily and painlessly through the lease. Finally, the manager, Joe, gave us REAL prices. Everybody is entitled to make a profit, but it is always a pleasure to deal with someone who not trying to rob you blind. I can't comment on the Service Department since I just took home the car today. I hope I will never have to. As far as the overall visual appeal of the dealership itself...please don't judge this book by it's cover. I grew up in the area and this dealership has ALWAYS been here. That definitely says something positive for it's staying power. It is a small building with a small showroom. Once you get over that and meet everyone inside, you will get over that quite quickly. read more

Just leased my 1st Mazda, a CX9, and I truly have not been more comfortable with a dealership from the moment my husband & I walked into the showroom through the delivery only a day and a half later. Charlie our sales person was very personable, knowledgeable, not pushy at all, worked out a fabulous quote as sick as he was. The color combination I chose was located within a day and was delivered the following morning. This dealership being family owned definitely delivers that old-fashioned mom and pop feel. What I truly admired about this dealership is their policy of taking the car you are interested in for a lengthy test drive without a sales person in the car. I have been leasing cars since the 80's and this is the very first. It genuinely takes any pressure off and allows the prospective buyer to really drive the car and experience it without having to listen to the salesperson talking. Believe it or not, this made a huge difference. Amazing! First time Mazda customer - I came to Wantagh Mazda with interest in looking at a Mazda CX-3. It was the Monday of President's Weekend, and despite how busy it was, employees/management made sure each shopper felt acknowledged and comfortable waiting. If you're thinking of looking for a new Mazda, definitely ask for Charlie! He was incredible. Very personable and had the answers to every one of our questions. No pressure, or BS at all. He gave me all my options - for all models of the car and with all different amounts down to see what worked best with my budget. He gave us the best price available the first time around (no back and fourth - which I REALLY appreciated. I've always had that problem at other dealerships) and made sure we knew the deals were good for the next few days. No pressure to make a fast decision for a quick dollar. I purchased a CX-5 in December and love it! I went there today to have a remote start put in my car. Kenny met me outside and told me to go in and have a cup of coffee. This was a little before 10. I was home in my driveway before 10:30. I was happy to see my salesman Dave and Joe S. who helped get my car from New Jersey. Everyone there is really amazing!! So happy I purchased my new car at this dealership! I just had my first service appointment at Wantagh Mazda today. I dropped my car off last night and my appointment was for 8:30 AM this morning. My phone rang at 8:05 AM that car was ready! Wow!! I went to pick it up and Gary said he would get it for me and parked it right outside in one of the driveways! I did a lot of online research and made several inquiries for different brands, not just Mazda. I did not want a sales pitch, I wanted answers to questions by email. Everyone else wanted to get me on the phone, which I did not have time for during the weekday. Joseph Bonavita was one of only two people who responded with actual answers, without hassle. The answers were so complete, I didn't bother to call, I just scheduled an appointment and my spouse and I went to look at the cars. Joe's no rush demeanor, accommodating style and well explained financing (all the better with Mazda's wonderful 0%) is what convinced us. The only uncertainty we had at that point was which color to choose~ Even to the end, when we picked up the car, we sat in there while he explained how to use all the features, which was a first for me. I love my Mazda6! Upscale features (blind spot monitoring, rear view camera, push-button entry system, etc.) in a sporty/classy looking family sedan, great gas mileage, and a really smooth ride. The engine is quiet, the Bose stereo system rocks. And the car is FUN to drive! I was not sure I would be happy in a car with a 4-cyl engine, but there is absolutely no problem with getting up to speed in this car. It is large enough for the family and there is plenty of trunk space for vacation luggage or an overdue trip to BJs or Costco. 5 stars, yes. I rarely give a 5-star rating, but the car is just perfect in every way. Victor, my Sales Counselor, made the purchasing process a pleasure, allowing me time to consider what model/trim/options/financing would best fit my budget and my needs. In fact, each member of the Sales Team was friendly, courteous and professional. I have and will continue to recommend this dealership to friends and family, and will surely return to Wantagh Mazda when it is time for another car. read more

I had been doing my research on the Mazda CX-5 for a few months till I finally decided to go to a dealership and go for a test drive. I chose Wantagh Mazda because of all the positive feedback I had heard from other people. Henry helped set me up for a test drive in the CX-5 and was very knowledgeable and thorough with letting me know all the details of the car. We then sat down and went over the numbers if I were to lease or finance the car. I appreciated not being pressured to make a decision right then and there. They even had another gentleman, Phil come over and break down all the numbers for me and explain everything. That night I chose to lease but after sleeping on it I decided to change over to finance which Henry was very kind and helpful to make the adjustment. After going through the used car dealers in the local areas and having had an aweful experience and being quoted the worst rates and not much of a selection, we called over to Wantagh Mazda and spoke with David. We were looking to buy a new car for my son and had a budget which is why we started at used but for the same budget we purchased a brand new 2015 Mazda 6 sport package and couldnt be happier with the customer service and the financing we got at the dealer. I had purchased a Mazda 3 in 2007 and after 103,000 miles and 7 years later not a problem the whole time i owned the car. It wasnt hard to decide what car we wanted. This was my second experience in purchasing a new car from Wantagh Madza and i would highly recommend the dealer and the Mazda name to anyone. Bought a Mazda CX-5. Johnathan was very helpful in making this happened. I got to the dealership and got to test drive the CX-5 by myself which was nice to be able to play with all the bells and whistles of the car I'm interested in. I wanted the sport model and when I got back to the dealership Johnathan took me to look at Sport Model. It was the color I wanted Blue Reflex. When we got back inside we started working on the numbers and got a firm quote for my Ford Focus SE. The can't sell ford cars at Mazda so they get bids from whole sellers. I was looking for a particular number and Is aw Johnathan and his manger go to work to get me the deal that I wanted. Once they got me the deal I picked up my car later that day so they can get cleaned up and ready. It is a lot of fun to drive and the no pressure sale made this an even better selling point for me. I am 100% satisfied and would recommend this dealership to anyone who is looking for a new car. read more

I had a GREAT experience at Wantaugh Mazda. It had been about 7 years since the last time I went through the process of searching for a new car. I had seen a 2015 Mazda 6 on the road and loved the new look, so I figured why not check it out. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Victor (salesman). He showed me the Mazda 6 in the showroom and as I was looking at it, a "Blackout Edition" Mazda 3 in the middle of the showroom caught my eye. I immediately fell in love. After deciding that was the car for me, I sat with Victor and Joe (manager). We discussed my financial capabilities and how much I was looking to spend, just to give them an idea of my comfort level. They went and did their thing and came back with several scenarios of down payments and monthly payments, ALL of which were very reasonable and in my opinion, honest.
