That shouldn't happen since I always get the extra protection, and I use a special lens cloth to clean them. Glasses are all but useless once that happens. I don't recall that ever happening before. The prescription sunglasses they made for me, at substantial expense, are an optical mess. Wavy lines, visible color prism, ill-fitting--unbearable. Gonna try another place this time now that I have a baseline.​

My issue is the way I was treated on my last visit by his assistant after it became apparent to her that I would not be buying frames or lenses from the practice. Her attitude immediately changed when I asked for a prescription. She stood up, went to ring up my copayment, and when she returned with the prescription she remained standing and was abrupt with me when I asked her to explain the change in my prescription, which was in a format I was not familiar with based on what I received in prior visits. I'm an educated person who wants to know how things work and what numbers actually mean, not merely to be told that "any qualified optician will understand" the prescription. I was made to feel stupid and like I was an imposition so I left and fed the prescription into ChatGPT which politely explained it to me, including how a progressive prescription can be translated into single vision distance and reading prescriptions, and what the numbers mean. AI was more polite and patient with me than the assistant. Despite having no issues with the doctor himself, I will not be returning to this practice in the future. The barriers between patients and medical information are evaporating due to AI. Doctors would be well advised to ensure that they and their staffs at least match the courtesy of ChatGPT. Update: In response to Dr. Glasser's comment, all I can say is that it would have taken his assistant less than a minute to sit down and politely explain to me the meaning of the numbers. Regardless of whether I'm dealing with an optometrist or a cardiologist, I take it upon myself to gain a thorough understanding of my heath, which is what ChatGPT provided and the assistant did not. If the doctor doesn't want to take constructive feedback on such a simple point, then I suppose that my decision to go elsewhere is the right one.

Brought my own frames to get lenses replaced. Had no problem with the prices and ordered the lenses. After spending ~$1200 they (manager?) seemed insulted that I asked for a receipt. He said "we've been here for 40 years!" Seriously? So what? After I insisted he begrudgingly printed one for me. When I picked them up they had not applied the edge-polish I had ordered and paid for. The salesperson took them in back and applied a slight buff, not a polish. I asked her to apply a polish and she went back and did it correctly. The thing is my lenses had an AR coating. Applying a polish to an AR lens can damage the coating - it's supposed to be done before the AR is applied - maybe that was the lab's fault. Nevertheless, I spoke with the salesperson about a different pair of lenses I was interested in, one for strictly reading/computer distance. I told her my working distances and knew just what it was I interested in. She proceeded to insist that that was not what I wanted, finally raising her voice and saying "fine, whatever you want!" Lots of glowing reviews on this site and that's fine for them - not for me. And, as background, I was a licensed Optician for 25 years before I stopped practicing to go to law school. I knew what I was talking about. The Rx/lenses were fine, but the attitude was a total turn-off. I'll never go back even though they're right around the corner from me and I'll never recommend them.

After 2 years, I finally found my wonderful Optometrist, Dr. G. Flocos. He was at another store…read moreprior to the pandemic, it closed with no notice and we were left in limbo with no forwarding email or number. I finally found him at this fabulous boutique at the City Center. As I sat down for my long overdue eye check-up, this lovely lady smiled (May) and said hello and asked if I need something to drink - water, wine or Champagne. J'adore! I asked for water since Champagne may elicit some behavior not fit in an optimal boutique. In 5 minutes, May and I were discussing where she needs to go for fun in DC. She is from the West Coast! Dr. Flocos was wonderful, methodical, like re-connecting with a good friend, since he had taken cared of my vision for more than a decade. We went through the whole gamut of tests - dilated my eyes to assess macular degeneration, etc. Kudos to Denise, May and the 2 gentlemen staff who were all cordial, friendly and made you comfortable. I called the day before and Denise called me back after 7 pm for an open slot the next day. Fantastic. In addition, the price was right and I did not get any marketing promo etc. On second thought, I should have taken that glass of Champagne! Bravo.
