So I was going to wait until I was back in CT to get a cut, but something told me to take a chance and check out Goodfellas. This place seems to have multiple talented barbers and a great barber atmosphere that I wasn't expecting to find in Maine. The music was diverse and soulful, the crowd was homogeneous( obviously) but quite the wide age range. Every barber seemed to take good care of each guest- as I saw multiple guys leave with different and excellent cuts. My experience was exactly what I needed, but honestly not what I was expecting. My barber communicated with me about how I wanted my cut and confidently took charge. This was my first visit at Goodfellas and we talked a bit about my time in Southern Maine. As a black male, trusting someone to cut your hair (especially in a predominately non-minority state) is very frightening.. Glad I took a chance with Goodfellas!

I'd been to another shop before recently where I felt rushed, with a barber with no conversation skills and a "just ok" cut. Chris did a great initial consult making suggestions, as I was open to what would look best for me and not 100% sure what I wanted. He really asked for my feedback on various options the entire time which I appreciated. Shop is spacious, with about 4-5 chairs with tv, live edge slab benches and tables and various photos and memorabilia on the wall. Tunes playing. All staff was friendly, and easy going chatting. They then proceeded to talk smack about every other barber in town, how they are the best and everyone else is trash. I believe this to be the owner of the establishment with the way he acted. He spent more time talking about himself and how "awesome" he was and not paying attention to what I was requesting.
