Rob is excellent at communicating when he will perform the inspections, and he follows up afterwards with an email and a copy of his report in case the one he leaves behind is lost. We found Rob after we had a blower go out just after an inspection by another company. Rob came and replaced the blower at a fair price and we decided to go with him for annual maintenance. We cancelled the maintenance contract (just renewed) with the old company. We now get maintenance, not just a look and a report. Rob checks more than two previous companies, which include the original designer/system provider Syber-Aer. Rob has made suggestions and changes to our system that have improved performance. He has taken the time to explain his improvements as well. Most of them have been minor - not expensive or time consuming, and he has included them at no charge. So even if he is a little more expensive on his contract cost, he does provide a better value overall. I heartily recommend the service provided by Rob and Northern Illinois Septic.

Not only did he agree to take on my job and promptly schedule a day to come out within a week, he also explained why it was being required by the county, what the tests will provide, and potential solutions depending on the results of the test. On the day of the tests, I met one of Bill's employees on site and they were more than courteous with their time to explain to me the methods on evaluating the soil and what each sample meant. Finally, I spoke to Bill after the test since I needed a couple of referrals related to my construction project and he gave me three people that: 1) have experience working directly with the county, 2) were happy to review what I have currently done and provide suggestions. I had used them about 3 years ago for a simple septic pump and I really got a good feeling about them. They seemed very honest and reasonable. When I called, I got in touch with the son, Mike, and he understood the situation that I was in with no ability to use any water in the house. He said he had a couple of appointments in the morning but he would try to get by before noon to check things out. He called me well before noon and said that he was free and could get out to my house. Since it had been a couple of years since my septic had been pumped, Mike started by pumping the tank and then checking things out. It turned out, even after pumping the tank out, the house was still not draining. There was a blockage between the house and the tank. So, Mike went to work accessing the basement clean out where the septic comes in. It was completely full and he had to drain it in buckets in order to just see what was going on. He ended up finding out that the cast iron pipe coming out of the house was broken in between the house and the tank. But, he was able to clear the blockage and get things working for the short-term. Both father and son returned today and replaced the pipe between the house and the tank. The price that they charged was very, very reasonable. I will not only continue to use them for all of my septic needs, but I will also highly recommend them to all of my friends and family.

Everyone was courteous, professional, efficient, and - most importantly - they knew what the hell they were doing. They apologized for having to drive over part of the flowerbed, but hey - I'm the one who planted flowers around the well cap. (No biggie.) As for pricing, the total ended up being a couple hundred less than the estimate. (Yay!) The new pump also came with a 5-year warranty. (Cool.) Replacing a well pump is always expensive, but I think we were charged fairly. PRAIRIE STATE WATER SYSTEMS ROCKS.
