Blue Whale is now owned by a different company and is based in Batavia. Since I had a good experience in the past, I called with an issue over the weekend to be sure I could get in line for Monday. After hearing nothing into the early afternoon on Monday, I called the office. The reception person said she would have a tech call me. An hour+ later, I had heard nothing back, and since it was getting late in the day I called again. Apparently the staff was on a "big job" with no idea of how long it could take. She wanted to push me off til the next day; I declined (this was why I called ahead!) She said, "I already waived the $100 emergency fee"...what emergency? It's not like my place was flooding, and when I called I didn't say, "I need a plumber in an hour" or something. It's apparently because "they wouldn't be in the area." I finally had her cancel the appointment. The new parent company is A&P Grease Trapping, and the Blue Whale number is now answered "A&P," which was confusing until I looked it up. But I do not recommend this plumber any longer; the scheduling and customer care needs a lot of work with this new arrangement. read more

Made an emergency call due to a leaky dishwasher supply valve, requiring the water to the house having to be turned off, on a Friday evening. Carl called within an hour, and arrived within 40 minutes. He made quick work of replacing the valve, while being diligent to wear shoe protectors while inside the house, and removing them every time he stepped out. Carl was very pleasant and knowledgeable. And I know the big question, the price was very reasonable for an after hours callout!! read more

Friendly service, incredibly responsive, and they do it right the first time (seems to be very uncommon these days). Just yesterday, on a Saturday morning, I discovered my water heater was leaking. I called at 8:30, got a call back from Ken (the owner) before 9, and Tony was out here at about10:30 to replace the water heater. Amazing service, especially for a Saturday. I've had Blue Whale fix many other things in the past (pipe leak, sump pump, faucets, toilet installation...just to name a few), and the experience has always been the same...excellent. A Great NO CALL NO SHOW company. We have a home warranty through Nicor Gas and they contracted Blue Whale to fix our bathtub draining slow. Blue Whale never called us and never showed up to repair it. All we keep getting told is they are busy I the field and will call us back in 10 minutes. I have had Blue Whale do two jobs for me and both times I was very pleased with the finished product. For the first job my outside hose spiket leaked and they replaced it. They were courteous, made sure to put drop cloths down to prevent making a mess (also made sure not to leave any garbage behind) and I thought they completed the task in a reasonable time frame. The second job I had done was the removal of our water softener and rerunning some water pipes. My experience was the same as what I had in the first job and I have been completely satisfied.
