However, as it turned out my water heater type didn't need an expansion tank, but a pressure relief valve. The tech explained the problem very clearly, installed a pressure relief valve, and was even creative by installing a pressure gauge where the previous plumber incorrectly installed an expansion tank. I took it to my local mechanic and they cleaned the cowel under the windshield and snaked the sunroof. While it slowed the leak, it'd still leak after a rainstorm, even with mild rains.
