Exemplary customer service even though this is the beginning of his busy time of the year. We were scheduled two days after I called. On the morning of, Phil texted and said he and his assistant could arrive earlier than anticipated. That was just fine with us. As in previous years, our fireplace was cleaned and inspected and the interior and exterior was vacuumed, the glass removed and cleaned as well. The work area was kept clean and drop cloths were laid over the hearth and nearby furniture. Our nosy cats had to be in the thick of things and that wasn't a problem for Phil either. When all was said and done, we had a sparkling gas fireplace ready to be used. Phil promised -and noted on the invoice- that he would return in the summer to respray the inside of the fireplace as an extra perk and to spruce it up a bit. Servicing costs are still very reasonable and fair. He told us to call him right away if we had any issues. Thanks again Phil I still highly recommend Phil's Fireplace Service in Beaverton.

Another company said they would only rebuild the entire fireplace and chimney. We never intend to use the fireplace and just needed to protect it from weather and creatures getting in. (We couldn't afford a complete rebuild in any case.) Lifetime Chimney saved us! They completed some repairing so they could install a cover/ cap, and they pressure washed the chimney. Miguel did an excellent job and was very kind. When I first called in, I spoke with Brian who was incredibly helpful! I was worried when I called in, but Brian explained what they needed to do. He patiently gave me clear information. The chimney looks great and it makes the house look great. We're relieved to have it protected now. I would hire this company again!

While we did end up having to replace an expensive part, I trusted that it was actually necessary because he really did try everything else first! I used Yelp and found Steve at Perfect Chimney who could come out same day for a very small consult fee. He fixed it within 30 minutes and was polite and efficient! We also have another fireplace in our house that we've never used. He looked from the outside and offered to fly his drone up to see how they were holding up. He showed me detailed pictures of the issues he noticed from way down on the ground, that were needing fixes. He was clear in the reasoning and not sale-sy. The team is coming back in a week or so for several fixes and I'll update my review when that happens, but so far, very happy with their work.

We called them in after another local chimney company cancelled/failed to show up unprepared for three appointments. American Chimney was great not just by comparison but because they provided outstanding customer service and repairs on our 100+ year old chimney. Office management was organized and professional. All appointments happened as scheduled, were preceded with reminders, and followed-up with email check-ins or phone calls. Shawn took the time to sit down with me and explain all of my options. I had a lot of questions, and he answered them all. My family was committed to restoring our wood-burning fireplace, which had begun to crumble (pieces of brick and mortar were literally falling down the chimney). The chimney was also not properly drawing smoke. Shawn provided a thorough inspection and explained that our chimney failed inspection on multiple points. Necessary repairs would be costly, and he recommended a gas insert, which would be half the price of the repairs. Ultimately, we decided to pursue the wood-burning restoration, and Shawn helped us find the most affordable options. Though we were quick to add on a few accessories, including a fan (for increased smoke draw) and a smoke guard, he advised us to wait to see if these would be necessary. (There was no pressure to purchase unnecessary items). After letting the repairs cure for over a month, we built our first fire a few days ago and were thrilled to see the smoke draw up the chimney. The work looks great, and with the masonry restoration, the chimney emits more heat than before. We don't need to add the fan or the smoke guard, so we are grateful for Shawn advising us to wait.

Honesty matters. Do I go with an insert or refurbish what I have, right? It was ultimately cheaper to just rebuild the walls on my interior chimney and install a new cap after buildup on top. Michael from American Chimney was the tech and mortar man and he was fantastic. A total pro. Safe, clean, efficient. He does excellent work and goes the extra mile for his clients. I feel safe and sound now, and ready for winter. I feel I can recommend these folks for your chimney repairs without getting ripped off. They were not the cheapest bid, and far from the most expensive. I could tell right off the bat these were competent folks I was dealing with. My hunch turned out to be correct.
