She stayed at that table for at least 5 minutes which feels like forever when you're waiting for something. We went several times in the first several months after they opened and loved it. We will not be going back and I don't think it's going to stay in business if this is how it's being run.

I was told I couldn't sit there because a party of eight was coming. They weren't there then, and the table was not reserved. The employee told me to sit on a barstool. I was using my walker, so he saw that I was disabled, and I told him I couldn't sit on a stool that high, as it would cause me a great deal of pain. I have had both hips and both knee joints replaced with metal, along with other disabilities that make that physically difficult. He laughed like it was a joke and belittled me, saying, "I know, I know." I tried the barstool, but it caused me intense pain, so I left. As soon as I walked out the door, he seated a family at the table he claimed he was holding--and it was a family of four, not the party of eight he had apparently made up. I went there almost weekly and previously left a good review. Never again. I will not do business with a restaurant that displays such blatant ageism and ableism. Also look at their information they say they don't reserve tables. It's apparent beyond a shadow of a doubt they are abelist and ageist here that only want able bodied customer under 65 or 55 or who knows what.

This time we stopped by the market for a single slice on the way to Dallas. The price for a slice seemed a bit steep (2-3x what you'd expect to pay in a city like Montreal or NYC) but we figured there must have been a good reason for the price to be so high. And there was indeed.. Behold! We opened the box and found a texas-sized pizza slice as big as big as a personal pizza! I was taken aback and wondered if I would be able to finish all that (I did, not sure how, but when there is a will, there is a way...) It turns out that these slices were the best 600 Degrees pizza we've ever had. They were super fresh, cheesy and tasty, the crust was thin and delicious, almost reminiscent of sourdough. It outshined everything we've ever tasted there before, which was good already. This experience leaves me with all sorts of questions like, are these as big as yo face pizza slices baked in a different oven than the regular pizzas? Or did the chef just have an excellent day that day? Either way, we were very happy. I may visit Obsidian Brewery time after time after time after time and never find out how their beer is. This is because a) They have an outstanding bar and b) They have an outstanding kitchen. For me, beer is a hardship beverage you drink when there is nothing else better available. When I go to a bar, I can sometimes be looking for mix-mastering. Usually I am looking for outstanding top of the line hard spirits. * * * When I walked into Obsidian, I looked at their bar. It was love at first sight. In front of me were twenty yards of three shelves of the most wonderful bottles I could possibly imagine. Half of them I had never heard of before. * * * I settled on a Buddha's Hand Gin. Buddha and Gin rarely appear in the same sentence Never mind the same label on a bottle. I ordered it straight up. I went immediately to Nirvana. Forget the meditation and the austerities. The Buddha's Hand Gin was as good as a trip to the Himalayas. Buddha's Hand is an obscure citrus fruit that grows multiple protuberances the way some horseradishes do. It is golden and looks like a hand. Ergo the name. The Buddha's Hand Gin is a citrus tinged gin with an edge more like orange zest than like orange juice. The additional botanicals make it strong, attention grabbing, fruity and yet combative. I was absolutely fascinated. Note that Buddha's Hand Gin is only one of the many items they have to explore there. I am totally ready to do more exploring. * * * The kitchen at Obsidian is also of distinction. The savvy local guide I came with adored his Thai Curry Wood Fired Rings. I went with a Cheesy Bread. This is open-faced grilled cheese on a thick slice of bread the size of a shoebox, with a wonderful homemade tomato sauce on about 1/3 of it. It is the best cheese pizza you have ever had. It is what cheese pizza is supposed to be if you don't use the standard canned ingredients that institutional providers sell to Domino's. I was as in love with my cheese bread as I was with my citrus gin. * * * The company was also outstanding. Which is just as well because Obsidian is a social place. Lots of Leanderthals having a fine time in couples and groups. This is not a loner's loser bar. You know - the dark rooms with misfits drinking their sixth beer while watching TV. This is a good folks good times full-of-sunlight place. So you definitely want to come with good folks. * * * Good food, good bottles, good people. And if you are feeling chipper, You can even have a homemade beer to celebrate.
