90% of the bars in Cedar Park suck. The Post is a dive with zero frills and old dudes who don't care about you, which is exactly what I want in a joint. Cheap beers and friendly bartenders. Watch out for cops, though. Otherwise, solid. read more

I've passed by The Post a gazzilion times and as I zoomed passed it on 1431 I would always think I got to stop in and check out this place. Well, the opportunity presented itself recently and it had me wondering why I have not stopped by sooner. Non-smokers heads up this is a smokey dive bar and you will smell of smoke when you leave. But there are positives such as good strong pours at very reasonable prices, friendly bartenders, and games galore. Patrons are friendly and we all did get the once over when we entered but a quick "hello all" and all was fine. I see a lot of previous reviews regarding poor service. Our bar service could not have been friendlier or more courteous. Reportedly there is karaoke on Fridays and bands on Saturday evenings. I'm sure we will return for their live music or for a quick "how do you do" during the week. read more

Horrible service! December 25 the drive was horrible with all staff. After tipping 60% the all decided I was too impaired which I clearly was not. I was forcefully ejected out of the premises. After tipping 50 % I expect better customer service! read more

I tried this place once for their karaoke and I remember thinking I'd have to sing a country song or I was going to get hog tied. Now that I've moved into a nearby neighborhood, I drive past this place every day. Their electronic sign makes it very clear that what their politics are thus making it perfectly clear that me and my friends would not be welcome there. Poor business decision in my opinion, but not my business. read more

This is the worst bar I've ever been to. The staff was so rude. They will cut you off and throw you out for no reason!! They will also profile you so if you not a old country girl/guy DONT GO HERE because they will assume your trouble and kick you out. read more

Done coming here, I come with coworkers and sometimes alone. If they're going to ask for ID it needs to be every customer every time! After coming several times over the years I've had a few denials due to not having my wallet on me oopss I forgot.. But if they cared to know their patrons they wouldn't pick and choose when they want to ID won't be back. FYI clearly don't have a baby face at 33.. disappointing. read more

Do not go to this bar if you want to have fun. I came to play shuffleboard with my friends and we were laughing and told we were so loud we could be heard across the entire bar. If you wanna have fun do not go to this bar, they should probably rename it the library because you have to be that quiet to have fun here. read more

Pros: the bartenders are almost all crazy friendly and do a decent pour for mixed drinks. There are 12 (yes 12) competition length shuffleboard tables. They serve meatballs that must have some sort of crack in them. I honestly have to force myself not to eat them until I get sick. Also, the price of drinks is definitely reasonable. I would go so far as to call it cheap and I tip the bartenders out well. Cons: it's a smoking bar. I understand that if you are a smoker, this would not be a con. For those that don't smoke it is a HUGE con. If you play pool, there's only one table for that. Kind of a bummer, but less so for me as I hard suck at pool. Lastly, the owners and their friends are VERY traditional. If you also happen to be super traditional, no problem. If not, big problem if you are open and honest about your non-traditionalness. Yep, I just made up a hot mess of a word. I can't remember ever feeling so judged by another person before and it was not pleasant at all. Unfortunately, that means I won't be back. read more

Enter into a smokey dive bar for cheap beer, bad Karaoke, pool, shuffle boards, and darts to start the night... be afraid be very afraid - this is a true local hang out and the ages range from 21-80. I swear I saw your grandma in there last week. The bartenders are either really funny, & attentive or they are rude and unresponsive. If they know you - you have a better chance of feeling 'welcomed' or youu'll need to try really hard to befriend. I've been in at least 15-20 or so times in the last two years and hate the nights were someone new is working because you spend the first hour trying to make them happy to make sure you aren't ignored. For location and ease of hanging out and being somewhat close to home it isn't a bad place. read more

It is, what it is. It's a converted VFW bar that caters to the local blue-collar folks. People watching is fun as long as you don't laugh out loud - you're outnumbered, so take your own chances. The bar is stocked with the regular swill offered by the local distributor and they have a nice wine selection - 1 white and 1 red. It's easily one of my favorite dive bars as it's less than a mile from my house. Friday nights there will be karaoke (yawn) and Saturdays will showcase a band from somewhere around here. In all honesty, it's a fine little place if you're looking to have a beer and some chatter with the (usually) friendly patrons and don't mind getting tepid service from the uninterested barmaids. read more

It's a smokey dive bar with down to earth, super friendly people that serve cheap beers and free sodas. It's not fancy, it's not hipster, it is what it is. This has been my sister and brother-in-law's bar since they moved to the north Austin area. When their son passed away, they had a huge fund raiser there with food and drink and we all gathered after the memorial to remember and reminisce. And raise a few beers in his memory as well. I wouldn't feel uncomfortable here unless I were a stuck up beer snob. So if you feel that may describe you, go ahead and drive on by. read more

The map feature on Yelp is wrong? The Post is off of Hwy 1431 a couple blocks past Waldon Way in Cedar Park. After driving by this place a hundred times I decided to stop by and have a beer. Unlike Cedar Parks newer beer joints(The Dig Pub/Taps) The Post has umm a bit more character. A sticky bar, a limited domestic beer selection, no fancy cheese plates, and a smokey aroma highlight an evening at The Post. A couple $2.00 draft beers and 3 Hank Jr. songs in a row from the jukebox and I was ready to become a regular. This is not a place I would bring out of town guests to highlight my new neighborhood. I wouldn't go there to watch Monday Night Football. The beer is cold and the service is kinda what you should expect at a place like this, but that is part of it's beauty. read more

Best shuffleboard place I have ever been!!! Cash tournaments! Great service and very fun attentive ladies!! Cheap beer and wine!! BYO your liquor and they will set you up for minimal costs. Its very smoky inside and they do have an area for bands and karaoke. A lot of same folks old and young here every night. The bathrooms are nasty on the men's side with a toilet even in a shower! Its not the place you take a first date, but a great spot to get drunk, have fun and not spend a fortune doing it. read more

Not really special unless you like shuffleboard and like to smoke. The entire establishment smells of smoke. There were plenty of people there so I assume it is doing well. Advertised as Cedar Park's only dance floor, I did not find any dance floor or any venue that resembles dancing. Can't really say I am disappointed or impressed. read more

When we went, we didn't realize it was a smoking bar (non smokers beware). Since we were there, we decided to play a few games of pool. Drinks were cheap, but that bartender (younger, brunette).... I don't think I've ever encountered a more rude person in my life. Doubt we ever go back. read more

Best old fashioned honky tonk in Cedar Park. I'm not a fan of the smoke but everything else makes up for it. Love the shuffle board tables and karaoke Friday nights are awesome. The beer is cheap and the atmosphere is fun and light. read more

Place was way to smokey!!! I walked in couldn't breath or see. The whole place also seemed really dirty, not to mention the beer I had there was flat! We just moved into this neighborhood a couple months ago, I drive past this place on my way home from work, we decided after having dinner down the street to stop in for a beer. When you go in you are definitely struck by the smoke, everyone is smoking so beware if you're sensitive to it. The place looked cool, but I wouldn't really know... because the brunette bartender/manager refused to serve us, stating that she "didn't feel comfortable with the way you stumbled in here." Mind you, this was 8 pm on a Friday and we were both stone cold sober. I've never been refused service at a bar in my life, and it makes no sense to me why you would cut someone off before they've even had a single drink, hasn't been in the bar for more than 5 minutes for you to observe obscene behavior, and had never been there before to earn a reputation as a drunk/problematic customer. Needless to say, I will never spend a single dollar at this dirty smoke-filled dive bar after my experience tonight. read more

Ahh The Post... the smokey, dirty locals' hangout. There is every ilk of person in this place, and they're all drunk and smoking. The bartenders are usually nice and attentive, but if you're not a regular, don't expect the best service. There is usually some terrible band playing some 80s country or Skynard rock, and there is no lack of people watching here. It always seems like it's all one redneck family in there. I go there to meet a buddy cause it's cheap and easy, but no other reasons I would choose this place. read more

Let's just say I've been coming here for maybe a half a year. I moved into the neighborhood close by. I would pop in for a beer or two on my way home from work at night. I understand bartenders have to card but the main brunette lady would ID me 2 to3 times within a hour EVERY TIME. I would never even leave the bar! She always ignores females and has serious issues. If you're under 30 be prepared to leave your ID in front of you and wait for her to notice you and receive an eye roll. The funny thing is the bar is never busy and it's really old people. Maybe a change of staff could bring this place to life. I gave this place a try a handful of times and met the owner who is very kind but won't come back anymore. I go to shooters now where my bartender likes my business and tips. read more

I have been to this place a few times. I have always enjoyed myself on previous visits. It reminds me of the little blue collar watering hole I used to work at up in Ohio, where the customers were all mill workers and coal miners. I like bars like this because the people are generally down to earth and the atmosphere is anything but pretentious. I have read reviews before about lousy service if you are not a regular, but I have always had great service there. Last night, however, I walked into that bar stone sober and went to use the restroom. When I came out, the bartender refused to serve me because "she didn't like the way I looked when I walked in". I was doing the pee pee dance all the way to the bathroom, so I probably didn't exactly look like I had it together. I get it. As a bartender, you have a responsibility to know where the line is. After speaking to me for a few minutes and realizing that I was not fall down drunk, she served me. I wasn't necessarily angry about that, but it was pretty annoying. As she is telling me she can offer me a water and I am looking around the bar, I am seeing people with one eye open or slurring their speech with beers in hand. Every single time I go in there I usually see a few people that have already had way too much to drink getting served. It was all cool in the end, but I finally experienced the different treatment because I am not a regular aspect of this place that I mentioned above. I have to admit I love all the updates and changes made in the last few years. This is one of my favorite hangout spots close to the house- I do feel I need to tell you the service has went downhill very badly. I went in on a Monday night and I totally understand it's slow and they close early but this was unacceptable in my opinion of a bar scenery. First there as no music! How can you allow it to be dead silent Ina bar- even the few guest that were there were not talking!! So we sit to have a beer and I asked to have some music and the lady behind the bar said I had to pay the jukebox was my only option. WHAT! I feel like that was very rude and unprofessional. We ended up buying some music credits and asked about pool. She said it's by the hour only and they we are closing in 20 minutes...... I looked at my phone and it was 11:15 I don't know how that makes since. Needless to say I will not be bragging about how awesome this little bar is. read more

The Post is the best example of a old time neighborhood bar: unpretentious, full of great salt of the earth people, inexpensive drinks, and lots to do. If you are in the area you must stop by and say hi to owners Ronnie and Dee and play a game of shuffleboard on one of their great in-house boards. Bartenders are friendly and professional, treat them well and they'll treat you better. read more
