Haven't visited Warren's in awhile. Used to frequently while working downtown. Best bartenders, best jukebox, quiet, low key, friendly. Best time was when I won a lawsuit and took my attorney there to celebrate. He'd never been and thought it was awesome! read more

This is a dive bar which has been downtown for decades. It's cheap and they pour heavy. I hear that they have a pretty good chicken salad sandwich which is available until close every day. Might be your last food option on some nights. read more

Warren's is where you should start when looking to get drunk at around 11:30 am in the morning. It's dark and smoky even though no one is smoking. None of the characters affixed to the bar will bat an eye at your late morning double, of Johnny Black on the rocks. When they pour the drink it will look like a quadruple. If you want some food, there are about 6000 restaurants within 50 ft that will deliver to your bar stool. Just ask the bartender, ours was extremely friendly. Had spirited conversations with the other patrons on a wide range of topics including: proper apostrophe placement, the colossal ineptness of the TSA, and the outcome of Houston's mayoral race. Houston would be well served to have more bars like Warren's that remind me of other big cities like LA , San Fran, Boston, and New York. If the bartender wasn't such a dick maybe I wouldn't even care to leave a poor review. You know it's bad when someone who has never reviewed anything goes out of their way to let people know about this place. "Why do you want to have three shots if there's four of you?". Well, because one person isn't drinking. "Where are you seated?" Over there at the end. "I don't know where that is." By the jukebox, sir. The bartender proceeds to serve tequila shots that weren't properly dressed and continues treating everyone with the same poor customer service. As a first timer I was very displeased. read more

I walked in, was polite, waited patiently at the bar for service. To my dismay, I watched while the bartender served other patrons that came to the bar after me, before she begrudgingly acknowledged my presence and asked me what I wanted. I order my drink and leave a small tip. I try to order a second drink later on, but she refused. Her quote: "try your luck with the other bartender, you didn't tip me." Needless to say, I left upset and confused. I typically average 25-30% for what I consider to be average service, so I gave her 8% for abismal service with the intention to give more if given the opportunity to order more. I was stone cold sober, not making a scene, dressed fairly well, and definitely very sober as it was my first drink of the night. Last time I was here I had a great time with friends and enjoyed the stiff pour, with zero issues. I definitely tipped much more during my last visits here, since I didn't get crappy service. It's hit or miss. I come here sometimes after work and it's fun. It's no frills-but there's not much to complain about. I came in last night with friends and we all got a Dos Equis, and it was very obviously skunked and had gone bad. The bar tender with the weird beard was a dick about it, and just said Dos Equis is just a skunky beer. Not a huge deal, but I'll tell my coworkers we're probably not going there for happy hour any more when man-chops is working. read more

This place is awful. Just AWFUL! I stopped by this place on Friday night and the bartenders weren't serving because they were too busy attacking a poor man over his girlfriend sitting in the wrong chair. Come on. These old, grumpy women need to stop berating PAYING costumers and start BARTENDING. Its their job. I waited 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge me because they were too busy ranting amongst themselves about another costumer. If I were the owner of this bar I'd seriously consider having a customer service crash course for these old hags. UPDATE: After reading the glorious reviews, I decided to give this spot another chance, thinking maybe I had a fluke experience first time. NO. This experience was even worst than my first. The bartending senior citizens are rude and angry women. They snapped at me for trying to call there attention for a drink. They snapped at me for asking there opinion and recommendation with some smart ass remark about how a real man should know what to order and not waist the bartenders time. Look lady this aint prohibition and I havent been drinking for a century like you have, so yeah I asked your opinion, pardon me. They snapped at me for asking why my tab was so high. I had 1 martini and it was $34)!!! They failed to apologize when they realized theyd charged someone elses drinks on my tab. And finally they bitched when I didnt tip enough - $2 for 1 martini and shit service seems over generous to me ey? Surely there is a better dive bar to be found in DT Houston. read more

Got here around 15 minutes to close, the bartenders had a really terrible attitude about serving us because they had already put their mixers away. One of the bartenders looked at us and told me that I was ordering girl drinks, and then I showed her the girls I was with and she ignored me and didnt serve us. Older bartender starts to argue with me about how late it is and tells me I know nothing about this place and how it works, so I suggest to her about closing before two or not letting people in around a certain time if they aren't going to want to serve us. I don't tip because it was terrible customer service and walk away from the bar with my drinks to a table close to the door. The older bartender starts to argue with us across the bar about not tipping her, I told her what could she expect if she's going to argue with her customers. She comes to the table and starts to nag about how we are young and don't know anything and the history behind this place and so forth. I basically tell her that she needs to clock out already and leave us alone. We finish our drinks and leave. I'm a native Houstonian, I love this city with all my heart and I want to see it grow and have a better bar scene like the other texas cities. I want it to thrive and I may be young but I know a good bar when I see one. If you're going to treat your customers the way I was treated last night, I suggest you close your business before 2am or don't let anyone in around a certain time. You may have a lot of history but you're never going to keep open in this new age if you're going to treat your new customers the way I was treated last night. If you hate your job and cant stand to take out your mixers for a couple of drinks for a customer than don't do it, retire and hire people who do want to do it because you are only hurting your own business and you're giving a terrible image to our city! read more

I first visited Warren's about 6 months ago and have to say, if you want to hear a great juke box (yes, an actually juke box-not one of those Internet play lists) full of classics sung by Sinatra, Redding, or Gaye, if you like a stiff drink and enjoy people watching...this is your kind of place. read more

This is one of the best bars in Houston! I have been going here for years and the service is top notch. So if you are looking for a stiff drink, this is your place. They do not serve food, so eat up before arriving; there are plenty of restaurants in the area. I noticed some reviews about the staff being rude. Maybe the best bar in the entire world. My girfriend and I had an overnight layover in Houston Texas and had planned to visit the downtown scene to entertain ourselves. Unfortunately it was New Years day and the entire metro Houston area was a ghost town. After much wandering we found Warrens and were pretty damn happy. It's got a great low-key vibe with lots of friendly people and a good selection of beers. But what made it special is Lacey the Bartender- when she found out we only had one night to see Houston she went out of her way to act as our tour guide, telling us about local clubs and pubs that were still open and areas of town to visit. She went as far as to call several good bars she knew to make sure they were open and gave us advice on how to get around and handle the famously tricky Houston cabbies. We visited a couple of great bars on her suggestion but ultimately came back to Warrens to finish the night because honestly its just an awesome bar full of good people.
