It's a perfect bar for when you want to celebrate with friends. They don't have much of a food menu and encourage you to bring your own food with you. Some light snacks like peanuts and chips are available for purchase. Service is as good as can be expected at a bar. Probably the lowest priced beers in Mid-town. That's enough reason to visit this place on its own. Also there's actual parking here meaning you can leave your car in the lot and walk right into the facility. Which is unheard of in Mid-town considering how scarce parking is. To keep yourself entertained, they have TVs across the wall, darts, and a pool table. Just be aware that at night, there are bouncers who may not like you if they think you're being rowdy. Even looking at them a certain way can cause them to think that so be nice! Other than that, drink up! read more

Let me start by saying a like a good divey, low-key bar, and that is exactly what this is. It is different than a lot of the other bars in the area. No frills, good prices for beer, and classic bar games like darts and pool. I can't speak to food or cocktails as I stuck with draft beer, which was priced very well and exactly what I wanted. Everyone was very nice, including the bartenders and the patrons. The place was playing early thousands and 90s alt rock, the music wasn't too loud and you could hear the people around you. They have a little patio outside to enjoy as well. There is a good bit of parking in the strip, but I'm unsure how full it gets during busy times. I wouldn't go expecting anything upscale, but it was exactly what I was looking for with good accessibility from midtown/montrose area. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE. This bar is a gem in midtown. A great escape from the usual busy loud midtown area. It's a good spot to hit up if you wanna have a drink and enjoy some sports (they have so many TVs). They have two pool tables and two dart boards which are always fun to use. They also have an AMI jukebox for you to put some groovy tunes. The atmosphere is chill and laid back. Service is always good and the prices are really low with a good selection compared to all the other bars around the area. They have daily specials which are hard to resist yummy and not so pricey! They have booths with tables which is always cool when you're with a group of friends. My FAVORITE thing is that you can take your own food or have it delivered and enjoy it there with your choice of drink. They also sell frozen tasty pizza, or chips for whenever you want to munch on something small. The bartenders are the best they're attentive and super kind! Jeremy, Erin, and Eli are super welcoming! You can tell they've built a relationship with the people that are there, it's noticeable that they have a lot of regulars which is really neat. But give this place a chance an once we got in the pub it was great, because of the non-smoking which is a plus, and the drink prices are exceptionally reasonable. The service is great. They have pool tables, and darts. To keep you entertained. The restrooms may need an update in the near future. I Don't think food was served here. They have well maintained pool tables and dart boards for league play. Their selection of booze is wide ranging, particularly the whiskey. They have a jukebox with online capabilities meaning you can load credits and play songs from the app. The aesthetic is old school wood Tavern which has a subdued feeling in midtown. The douchebag factor is also lessened by this decor and the clientele. I went to this tavern to play darts with my lady during a weekday and the bartender Eli was really chill and assisted us with everything we needed. Everything was going smooth, until today. Weeks or so later, I came back today and saw him again and greeted him. I forgot his name but had it relatively close. His Co worker, I'm not sure his name i didn't catch it, later on insisted on telling me that the other guy's pet peeve was getting his name wrong and having it said outloud. I didn't know that, since it was this was the second time coming here. The other bartender said something under his breath that was super disrespectful and even went to say that he didn't give a shit about what I thought. I was trying to apologize for whatever it was.. trying to figure out what the problem was. He didn't address anything after. I bought my beer, drank it and left with my group. I'm a patron to this establishment, and in no circumstances should I be getting lip by the bartender when I did absolutely nothing wrong. Another thing, my friend asked if they had a certain drink, he gave my friend an attitude when he said he didn't have that drink. They have pool tables, darts, etc. We sat at the bar and the service was great. My buddy and I ended up ordering one of their $10 pepperoni pizzas. Once I took my first bite, I immediately realized it was DiGiorno's Pizza! In some ways, I respect Dog House. They're selling frozen pizza for $10 and making a nice profit out of each pizza with minimal effort. But come on guys! It's DiGiorno. It's not delivery, it's DiGiorno's. read more

They have a great happy hour, drinks are friggin' stiff, there are lots of TVs to enjoy the game without being bothered by a room full of frat-boy idiots, and you just might find parking. It's one of the strongest pours in midtown. Skip the beer here and go for a mixed drink. This is a good place to get the evening started as it shouldn't be completely slammed and the prices are pretty reasonable. They also have darts for free and you can bring your own food in from wherever. There's an Italian place next door that will bring your order over as well. Once the Italian place closes they usually fire up their small pizza over and cook up CPK pizzas which are quite amazing after a few hours of their stout cocktails. Parking used to be a huge hassle here but now they have someone watching the lot. So don't park here and run off down the street, you will get towed. As long as you're going into the Doghouse you're good. The specials during the week are usually pretty good but I usually only make it in on Friday nights. It's a good place where you can actually grab a table and have a conversation with your friends. read more

I live 2 blocks away, I'll not return. I'll encourage my Neighbors to not return. I have lived in this neighborhood since 2008. This is our first revisit since they made people quit smoking a few years ago. We're not returning, and how wonderful that my allergy shot nurse referred me. I can't wait to tell her of my visit. This place is the worst in midtown and I live here. Now I know why I haven't been here since 2011 when they flouted the smoking laws. Avoid this place like acne!! A major, major part of me wants to give this place four stars. I mean, it has all the makings of things I love: laid back bar, good beer, friendly staff, and a pool table. So why can't I bump them with a good conscious? Because they just didn't mesh well together. It is like when you were a kid and you wanted to mix your favorite foods together (like perhaps peanut butter, hot dogs, and ice cream) and they just didn't mesh. All the delicious components are there, but there is just something so wrong about putting it all together. I think the major kicker for me was explaining the beers to the bartender. I'm not beer expert--just a regular Joe who enjoys a good brew. But he was a transplant, so I'm assuming he came from some other place that only served shots since his knowledge of basic beers was nil. Plus, he spent more time flirting with his girlfriend than actually helping out--we had to physically go and interrupt their conversation to get service. I'd love to go back and give it another try, but I'm just not sold on the place. The service is awesome, the prices are right, and the drinks are good. What else do you want? If I'm in Midtown, I inevitably make it to Dog House. Either because the other bars in Midtown are packed or just crap bars, sometime they're both. Sometimes I just go straight here because it's a really good bar. It's always calm and even when it's busy, it doesn't feel like it's busy. IT has lots of seating and all of the other bar patrons are just there for a good time and not to bro-down. A good, solid, irish-style pub. A cozy atmosphere makes you feel at home. The interior is all wood. Gas heaters. Enough space to find your own corner, but still a small place. One corner devoted to two pool tables. Friendly fast service. It's a storefront location, so no patio worth mentioning - although they do have some tables out front, you're probably going to end up inside. Overall, it felt kind of like a half-sized version of Baker St or Sherlocks, only with a smaller and somewhat older crowd, and a jukebox instead of a live band. I'm not impressed. I went to the Doghouse to watch the Super Tuesday Primaries with the Drinking Liberally group. Let me clarify: This group meets here on a regular basis on Tuesday nights (a traditionally slow night) and runs up a substantial bar tab when they do. It's our "home bar", so to speak. So you would think the bartenders would have no problem turning down the music and turning up the volume on the TVs so we could hear what was going on at the primaries. Not so. They said they only turn off the music for sports. WHAT?!? We were over half the patrons in that bar. They didn't even ask the other patrons if it was ok, just flat out told us no. Then when we asked if we could turn on the closed captioning we got major attitude. Eventually we did get the closed captioning to work, but only on a really small TV where we all had to crowd around one side of the table to see. The service was slow even though the bar was not at all busy. When I finally did get my check, the waitress overcharged me and undercharged my buddy. Realizing that it would take her forever to correct her mistake I just ate it and told my buddy he owed me a beer. Even though the beer was cheap ($2.25 domestic longnecks Mon-Weds) and I like the decor (the birdseye wood paneling is beautiful) I will not come back here unless Drinking Liberally meets here again. I'm even going to suggest that we change home bars. As much time and money as our group spends there it wasn't unreasonable for us to expect to be able to listen to the programming that we specifically went there to see. read more
