The employee who brought us our coffees was pleasant, friendly, and efficient. I love blueberry pancakes, and I knew as soon as I looked at their menu what I was ordering. The Pancake Breakfast comes with your choice of pancakes (blueberries always of course), 2 eggs, and choice of meat (bacon for me, tyvm). Cracker Barrels line their walls with such interesting pictures and it was really nice just sitting, relaxing, and scanning the walls while waiting for my pancakes. The pancakes were very good with the exception that they might have been cooked a tad longer to create more of a golden brown color, however the inside was done so no harm done. Before I knew it, my plate was cleaned, my coffee cup empty, and it was time to get back on the bike. A good meal, pleasant service, and a relaxing stop is what you'll find here. Be sure to check them out.

We eat at Cracker Barrel often, and this is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review…read more We arrived at 7:20 pm, well past any dinner rush. There were plenty of empty tables in the dining room, but the store area was packed with people waiting. We were told the wait would be 15 minutes. It ended up being 45. At that point I was actively trying to convince my wife to leave and go somewhere else. When our name was finally called and we were being seated, someone came out of the bathroom, elbowed past us, and went straight into the kitchen. The smell of marijuana was so strong it was impossible to ignore. Once seated, our server was actually quite good. She took our order quickly and was friendly and attentive when she did stop by. Unfortunately, it still took another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. When it did, several items were missing and had to be requested later when she returned. The food itself tasted great, as Cracker Barrel usually does. That said, the service flow was a mess. Our server only checked on us twice, and I eventually had to flag down someone else just to get the bill. Overall, this experience was frustrating from start to finish, and we will not be coming back to this Cracker Barrel.

We've never tried Captain D's but Jeremy really enjoys fried fish. This seemed like something he could eat while driving, but alas they were out of fried fish, and about half of their menu including condiments such as ketchup and cocktail sauce. Nevertheless we were able to cobble together two meals, and neither of us had any complaints. Jeremy had fried shrimp and popcorn shrimp with hush puppies (I love how many restaurants in the south have these on their menu. These were perfect, if not a tiny bit too salty). I had chicken tenders (they actually had honey mustard dipping sauce, which is my preferred sauce when it comes to chicken) and some amazing cole slaw (not mushy). Even though we couldn't have several of our first choices (out of jalapeno poppers), what we did eat was crispy and delicious. I wouldn't mind trying Captain D's again, sometime in the future, when we're on yet another epic adventure. Sorry no pics. It was difficult to juggle the clambox containers on my lap in a moving vehicle.
