The assorted selection of saki and drinks were excellent, along with the differernt menu items. The BEST Sushi AND Service in Jacksonville! I've tried 6 types of sushi here and all 6 were delicious and methodically prepared. Great presentation. It's a small place but don't let that stop you. The green tea is fresh and delicious. Also I love the chicken teriyaki! Best of all the service is I would have to say as good as any restaurant you'll find in Onslow County. Only ordered from here once for takeout, and I was not disappointed! I will say, however, their prices are a bit high. You won't leave this place hungry though! I got chicken katsu that came with a salad and rice. On the side, I got an order of shrimp tempura rolls. Probably one of the better shrimp tempura rolls I have had from the area. Wasabi Restaurant is a fantastic Japanese Restaurant. My family was served a delicious variety of sushi, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and a Bento Box. We enjoyed the atmosphere and and food very much. This place is across the street from Discount Tires. It has good food and great customer service. This isn't those big spacious establishments, it's pretty small in there. It gets busy too so all the tables get filled and it gets pretty tight. Moms with strollers, leave the strollers outside, there's no space in there for anything other than human bodies and purses. read more

Absolutely amazing! If you're new to Jacksonville definitely come to Wasabi. The other sushi restaurants don't have this amazing food quality and flavor like this one! Just finished eating here and I got the Miami roll, salmon roll, Gyoza, and chicken fried rice and it was spectacular. Even our server Natalie was amazing! Fast and efficient. I really like this restaurant. The decor is modern and casual, and the jazz music doesn't dissuade you from enjoying your meal while conversing with someone else. The wait staff is very friendly, and even explained to me that the house salad dressing is made fresh daily from a long list of fruits and spices. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and the salmon avocado roll. I was a little bit disappointed with the spicy tuna roll - instead of fresh ahi tuna filets, they use shredded (what appeared to be canned) albacore tuna. It was not spicy at all, and not what I am used to. However, it tasted good, and I still put it in my belly. I'll be back, just maybe not for a spicy tuna roll. read more

Got there at 9:32pm and they refused to serve us because their dinning room closes at 9:30pm.. they didn't server us because we were 2 minutes over. Stopped in on a Saturday night to grab take out. I was immediately sat comfortably at a table, given the menu and given recommendations from the hostess/waitress. The dinning room was quiet, clean, and seemed new. They have a large wooden bar/prep area. Their menu is impressive. They have a huge selection of sushi. You can even get beer, wine, and saki to go. The food was amazing. We order the Dancing Girl and Destiny rolls. I highly recommend both. For the kids we got the soba. At many places the noodles are flavorless. Not here. Everything was phenomenal. My only complaint is that I ordered a hand roll, but instead got a cut roll of the same ingredient (eel). We will definitely be back. read more

I was skeptical that sushi place near military base would be so good, but I give it a shot given all the very high ratings on nearly 100 reviews. They weren't exaggerating, this place is awesome! Fresh sushi, beautifully done, with very reasonable prices. You really can't go wrong I had a variety of the sushi, and it was very large, fresh and very creative. Decent prices on drinks really add value to this place. Tucked away in a strip mall next to the tattoo parlor, this would be hard to see if you weren't looking for it. This family-run place is very authentic and they also own a Thai restaurant. If I lived here I'd be a regular, and I'd love to try the Thai restaurant. read more

Started with the house green tea. It tasted light and fresh. I would've liked it to have been a little more chilled, but very good. Next up was the calamari rings, breading was crispy, the calamari was firm without being chewy or rubbery. The sauce was the right amount of sweetness. Our table ordered some soft shell crab, also cooked really well. Lots of flavor paired with a bold sauce. Main dish was a Nemo roll. A combination of crab and a couple different items. It was excellent. Little bit of crispness, a little bit of sweetness. Paired with a little wasabi, really good flavors. I tried some of my table's volcano roll, and yellowtail. Both were wonderful. I was talked into going for some desert. I figured if this place was going to let me down it would be there. I was wrong. I was not expecting the level of presentation that came with my black cherry cheesecake. The cream was light, the cheesecake itself was flavorful and the crust at the bottom was perfect. The ice cream wasn't anything special, but combined with everything, it was what it needed to be. The service was great, our waitress was very quick in taking our orders and refilling drinks as soon as we were empty. The decor was warm and inviting. Several tables located around as well as a line of bar type seating. I was impressed with everything and will definitely be making my way back. read more

Best place I've eaten in Jacksonville, NC so far! Honestly, there aren't a variety of places here to eat. So I like to give five stars to the restaurants I thoroughly enjoy. In my opinion, this definitely fit the five star for Jacksonville standard. PS, bring a sweater. AC was on and it was pretty cold!! First off, parking is very limited, but still have enough parking space for everyone. The hubby and I came in around 8PM. The restaurant was crowded, but I guess everyone was finishing up dinner because it was almost empty 10mins later. So probably a great time to go for dinner if you don't mind the lateness. Since it is located inside a shopping center, restaurant is pretty small. Good amount of seatings, but still limited during busy hours. Hubby and I ordered a lot of food.. we like to it. Haha. Miso Soup: simply delicious. Can't go wrong with a simple traditional soup. Tom Yum Soup: LOVED IT! It has that bit of sweet and sour flavor. It was refreshing and delicious. Loved all the veggies in it and it does come with shrimp! Gyoza: crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Mmmm. Sooo good! Philadelphia Roll: simple roll. Comes with Salmon, cream cheese, and cucumber inside. Good in its own way without the extra frills. Dancing Girl Roll: that's the one with the shrimp tempura inside. DELICIOUS. Definitely our favorite. I can't give you all the details about it, but it's a must for us! Just know the flavor is there! Twin Tower Roll: this is the one with the avocado on top. Yummy!! Had great flavor. I personally believe it taste great with wasabi mayo instead of honey mustard. Tempura Ice Cream (Matcha Green Tea flavor): scrumptious! I just wished the breading was a little more crispy, but my husband pointed out how it kinda reminded him like cereal. The tempura batter as cereal and ice cream as milk. Lol. I started to enjoy it more! Everything was sooo good. We ordered a lot, but didn't want to leave any food behind! Haha. Our server was great. Tall guy, big eyes, brown hair, light skin. I honestly don't remember his name, but he asked us if we wanted side sauces and we did (eel, spicy mayo, wasabi mayo). Very kind of him. Not everyone will do that. So thumbs up for the service!! Wasabi has become my favorite sushi joint in Jacksonville. The highlights include their excellent nigiri sushi, with the appropriate proportion of rice to fresh fish. Their flavorful pork gyoza is prepared correctly-so many restaurants deep fry their dumplings-with the soft skin nicely pan seared and served with a soy-rice vinegar dipping sauce. The shrimp tempura was light and not overburdened with batter. Most of the rolls we had were very good as well-I liked their rainbow roll and the California roll. However, I did not care for the Twin Tower roll- the mayo was very bland and combined with the avocado and lack of textural contrasts left me feeling like I ate a dollop of goo. Overall though, the food here is delightful and well worth a trip. I will probably stick to the nigiri sushi and perhaps give the tonkatsu (fried pork tenderloin cutlet) a try. Hands down the best sushi in Jacksonville! They offer a great selection of both cooked and raw rolls, and the fish always taste fresh. They make their own soy sauce in house and it really adds to the flavors. The staff , especially the owner, are so welcoming and do all they can to make your experience a great one. I'm a regular at this place and they have many options to choose from. My go to choices are the volcano roll, purple spicy fried rice, and the Thai tea. All around good service and very comfortable environment. Food is a reasonable price and in good portions highly recommended dining in. read more

Every time I come here I always order their green-tea fried ice cream, I forgot how much the ice cream cost but it's a good piece of fried ice cream for one person. love their shrimp shumai 1 order of 4.95 brings 4 little pieces but I've never been to any place where they served more than 4 although I wish they did. This time I tried the shrimp tempura roll I'm currently pregnant so can't eat raw fish and I think I found one of my favorite go to's in the menu. I will definitely keep coming back for that and other new things. Last time I went I tried something but I forgot what that was ; it was definitely raw fish pieces and I really enjoyed raw fish for the first time in my life.
