We got two overpriced, low quality, tiny portion hibachi lunch specials. The Green Salad with 1 slice of cucumber was good. Hibachi was mid. Teriyaki noodles were completely plain with no teriyaki sauce on them, just boiled in water and thrown into the tray. Most of my container was zucchini, which is typical of hibachi to include a lot of zucchini, but I asked if I could have just broccoli for my veggie and she told me "no." We literally LOL'ed on the phone, like what? Both of our specials did not come with ginger or yum yum sauce, which is a first for us. Fried rice instead of white rice with my husband's lunch special was an additional $5.95 up charge. Safe to say we definitely won't be back. For comparison, we are Ocean county natives -- back home we would get actual hibachi lunch specials for $18--$20 that included soup AND salad, hibachi rice AND noodles, and sauces, and would eat that single portion lunch special for 2-3 meals. read more

I ordered a sushi lunch special and the sushi was horrible, specifically the avocado was bad. The woman at the counter was nice when I initially placed my order, however when I approached her after trying 1 of the California Rolls she became aggressive and rude. I explained to her that I only had 1, as she could clearly see. I ordered 3 rolls (18 pieces), I returned the platter with 17 pieces and she proceeded to argue with me the ENTIRE time that they have never had anyone return anything. She was upset because I put soy sauce on the rolls and "now we have to throw them out". You should be throwing them out anyway they were returned, you shouldn't be selling them again once they've been given to a customer, left the establishment, and have been opened by someone. I tried this place because my go to sushi spot Megu is closed on Tuesdays and I really wanted sushi. Last night was my first time, after many years, ordering from Wasabi and my experience was not positive! It all began with the person who answered the phone and to whom I gave my takeout order. I started my call by telling her that i had a large order; she not only rushed me through the order but she also reminded me twice that she had other calls waiting and " so was i done?" Surprisingly, i went to pick up the order and noticed the place had no more than 4 customers seated and eating and phones were silent. Lastly i asked for two small spicy mayo containers and was charged 50 cents. My complete order was in excess of 100 dollars and they had the audacity of charging me 50 cents for a small container of dipping sauce ??!?! As to the food itself.....equally disappointing! The rolls were tiny! The ingredients were slim! There are far better sushi options in the area, in fact only a block away! (Unfortunately they are closed on Mondays). In summary I would not recommend Wasabi to anyone. I used to order from Wasabi frequently about 7 years ago but the quality of their food and customer service has gone down hill and they will not have me as a customer going forward. read more

Went here with my fiancé for dinner. There's a sign on the menu stating if you don't leave a tip then you will be charged a fee of 20%. I thought that was kind of crazy but I guess there's cheap people out there that don't tip but didn't know they could do that legally. food wasn't that good. We both Ordered the wasabi box x2 and it wasn't worth the $40. We also ordered A sushi roll which was just ok. They charged us .50 cents for a take home box which was a small rice container. I was introduced to Wasabi from a coupon in the money mailer and as well as a girlfriend who recomended it one night after the gym. You go in and they have plenty of room to accommodate large or small parties. They have a GREAT half off menu and they DO ALOT of TAKE-OUT! They do NOT skimp on souaces and if you do take out, you will have plenty of stuff and wasabi adn sauces and will be set. I was VERY pleased and enjoyed the White Tuna, Salmon, Regular Tuna and Spanish Mackerel. Very tasty!! I was happy with my selections. I ordered 8 pieces of Salmon (Sake) 4 pieces of Shrimp Sushi 2 pieces of Spanish Mackerel 2 Tuna and 2 White Tuna All with Brown Rice Oh, and I ordered an appetizer portion of Edamame. Very large pods and tasty as well. I had chop sticks in the package and wasabi, Soy sauce, Plum Sauce Eel Sauce and Ginger. Everything was spaced out and arranged very nice looking. My order came out to be $24.00 The place is pretty simplified, it is in a strip mall and it is pretty basic, so, I have read about this place, it IS GOOD, but nothing fancy. This is the BEST sushi I have ever encountered. AND the most affordable. Their sushi is cut very nicely, not too thin, not too chunky, just the right length. I'm not a wasabi paste fan, and I like how the sushi isn't stuck onto the rice with a glob of it like some places do. It's no lie, they have 50% off Chef's Rolls and Sushi all day long. My husband and I go in there often and we laugh and giggle at how effing good the food is while we eat. We probably look like a couple of crazies. I am so excited we moved two plazas down from this place, Wasabi alone makes my transition to NJ so worth while. I live in south south SOUTH New Jersey but ventured up to Bordentown to my family's tanning salon with my cousin and best friend. My cousin and I are avid sushi fans (although I would say I am more adventurous and have tried a wider variety) and the best friend, who is a vegetarian, has never had Japanese food in any form. After hitting up Yelp for some local places on the way home, I came across Wasabi and we decided to check it out. The place is quaint, although I could do without the music they were playing (there's something about top hits from the 90s that doesn't sit well with sushi.. Backstreet Boys came on ffs!). Our server was extremely nice and helped my friend find all the vegetarian options quickly. Their miso soup was delicious and comparable to my favorite restaurant's version. My cousin enjoyed her rolls and it was a nice experience. I nearly died from excitement when I saw they have bento boxes!! I have never had one and regretted not indulging one when I was in California 6 years ago. It was so delicious! I ate too much because I kept sampling a little of everything. I didn't really care for the California roll, but I never have been that much of a fan of them. Give me any roll with eel in it any day and I am a happy girl. If I am ever in the area I would definitely go back again. The price was right and the food was satisfying and tasty! read more

I am highly suspect of anyone who gives this place a 5-star review, as it was merely average strip-center sushi. Not particularly good, not particularly bad, and not particularly cheap. It'd be fine, if it weren't 2 minutes away from the likes of Akira2 or Yokohama, which are MUCH better and better value. Staff is very friendly, decor is pleasant, and service was very good. Miso soup was salty and watery. Salad was fine. Tea was excellent. Yes, "special" rolls are "half price" but unspectacular. The sushi was not at the peak of freshness, and one piece in particular was very off-tasting, and they liked to put parsley on the plate -- but the parsley was wilted, which really brought down the presentation. Tempura was good, light, and not greasy, but the sauce was again lacking in flavor. Not the worst I've had, not the best, and absolutely not deserving of a 5-star review. Given the choice, I'll pass in favor of one of the better places in the area when the sushi jones hits. read more

Been coming here for a long time, have last reviewed them last year (less than stellar service) and tonight, the service was superb! I'm not sure what other Yelpers are expecting but we've never had an issue with their 50% off sushi specials (we get rolls and pieces). We only come here for 50% off sushi and never ordered anything from kitchen, other than soup and appetizers. We've tried other local Japanese restaurants, and all are equally good, but we enjoy dining out on a budget so local people, come back to Wasabi and try them again! :-) read more

This place is good. Really really love their sushi rolls. The fish tastes fresh and their amazing roll is plain fricken amazing! We get that and their deluxe roll all the time. Their gyoza has a great dipping sauce and their desserts are fantastic!!! Fried bananas are good but I love their mochi. Beautiful plating and presentation. I was going to go to my go to sushi spot Matsuya, but I decided not to. Worst decision I've made about a sushi place. So I see the 50% off special sushi rolls and I decide to try 2 out, my friend got the dinner bento box. Awaiting ours meals I was hungry, key word: Was. The sushi plate arrived and it did look lacking on sushi on one of the special rolls I ordered. It was suppose to have lobster as described. However, it came in a "lobster mayo" mainly just mayo with eel on top. I decided to call the waitress over because I was dissatisfied with the amount of "lobster mayo." I politely said "can I change this order? because there is barely any lobster on my roll." She began to get angry and say no you must buy another roll. I said is this how you satisfy customers and do want returning customers if they are dissatisfied with the quality of their meal that they are paying for?? She began to rant and get really bitchy, like straight up bitch mode yelling while there was one other table near us and in the whole place and I could see why now. We argued and yelled about the lacking sushi dish until her colleagues came by to calm her down. By the time we were done I was no longer hungry and I will never come back to this place because of this woman. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 because the manager came in and asked me what was the problem. He offered to give me some to go sushi which I declined since that woman ruined my friend's dinner and my appetite. I'll be going to Matsuya or Miyabi next time. Stay away from this place, the portions are fucked up and so is their customer service. read more
