    Got sick from this platter
    Irene L.

$38 for the DIY platter for pickup paid in cash. Lately the quality went down. The yellowtail sashimi was cut into small pieces and sushi did not taste fresh. Last week I ordered a platter and stomach started hurting and that never happened from this spot and they also got a C rating now. It was also very dead when I went in there.

Salmon was not fresh, kani was bad, cooked salmon in the roll was awful.

I've ordered from NINJA for a while now usually it's decent for the price. The quality has gone down for sure. For the $50 party tray, 1 of the cooked salmon rolls were bad. The salmon were NOT fresh. The kani was dry. It felt like old ingredients meshed in there. Pretty disappointed after spending $100+.

Ordered a bunch of food here to celebrate a birthday and overall, good quality sushi for the establishment. Most of the rolls are standardly good, though I will say that the pad thai was kind of bland, could definitely use some more seasoning there. The standout for me was the Ninja Sandwich though, which was basically avocado and eggplant, along with layers of raw fish sandwiched between two slices of bread and then deep fried and topped with sweet chili sauce. I know it just uses ingredients they already have on hand but I really enjoyed the flavor combination and appreciate the novelty of it as well. Overall, good experience and 10% off if you order online!

Yesterday order sushi .they were not eatable rice around falls appart the fish was not fresh after I called them and send a pictire of it the owner become argumentative and told that he will put my name in ban list. Absolutely unprofessional behavior

    Dragon Roll, kids love it

Food was fresh , kids loved it ~ordered dragon roll, pineapple fried rice. service was great as well. We dined in.

This was based off takeout through seamless. Less than pleased with the quality of the food here. The shrimp tempura and chicken tempura were incredibly disproportionate of batter vs protein. It was so dried out, it was felt like dried meats. Their dynamite was sadly disgusting. Its runny ooze of mayo mushroom soup topped with orange cheese. The bagel roll was a terrible attempt with the fish and cream cheese deep fried. Plenty of other places to get good take out sushi on 86th Street

I love getting party trays from ninja 86! Quick service and easy to place orders online. The rolls are always tasty for takeout!

Ninja86 has reopened their dine-in service.

They have been a staple for me as a at-home dinner option sometimes on Fridays with their party trays. Their quality has been pretty decent and haven't had any issues with their food.

My family decided to order takeout from here because of their 10% off online order special. Their party trays are very affordable, especially for NY. However, we found the quality of the fish to be lacking in comparison to the many other sushi locations we have been to. It didn't taste that fresh. This was especially evident with the nigiri sushi pieces. It's difficult to beat these prices, but you get what you pay for.

A solid spot for sushi takeout. Ninja 86 is my go-to spot when I'm feeling for quick sushi bites. Their service is quick and always delivers ahead of time. My favorites are the sashimi set and spicy salmon. The sashimi slices are thick and decent quality and comes with a side of soup/salad. You can also customize to have salmon & tuna only. The salmon pieces here are great quality. The spicy salmon roll also has a kick of spice to it, which is nice because other spots tend to be bland! Love this spot & highly recommend if you are wanting quick bites.

Was craving sushi and saw this place had great lunch special deals. Ordered two 3 rolls lunch specials through Yelp and the order arrived within 35mins. $11 (through Yelp and as of Sept 2021) for 3 rolls with soup AND salad . Most places give only one side with the rolls, but not Ninja 86 Sushi. I ordered the spicy tuna (looked like spicy salmon), spicy yellowtail, eel avocado, shrimp tempura and salmon termpura rolls. All rolls were amazing! Will definitely order from them again! And next time I'll know to order from their website directly after reading the reviews about the 10% off.

10% off online orders right now on their site! After being sick of the sushi spots over on Avenue U (mostly decent, just a little pricier for classic rolls), it's finally time to start trying the plethora of options on 86th Street. Lunch Combo deals are pretty appealing at only $9.75 for three orders of classic rolls as well as 3 other pieces - only downside is it's a set so you can't choose your rolls, but the deals are geared towards some classics so there's bound to be a combo that you love. Review is only for the limited rolls I've tried thus far, but their spicy salmon roll is already superior to the ones on Avenue U. Generous drizzle of spicy mayo on top. I personally also realllly like the shrimp tempura roll as well - really good crunch and balance. The ratio to filling and rice is also spot on - the rice layer is pretty thin and I didn't feel bloated at all However, the non-rolls from Lunch Combo 1 were pretty average in terms of taste. That's where they pack in the rice! Could've tasted a lot fresher

I had a six hours video call from 9am to 3pm. Thus, I knew there was no time to make lunch. I placed an online order on the ninja86 website. During a 10 minutes break, I was able to walk over and pick up my order. The cashier was very nice when he handled my transaction. I was in and out less than 5 minutes. My sushi rolls and side salad were fresh. The miso soup was steamy hot. Thanks Ninja 86 for making my day!

This is a good and affordable spot for sushi. A lot of people mainly go for takeout now but it is somewhere I would always get sushi to go.

The Kaishin don was the star. The fish was so fresh and the seaweed added a nice crunch. The mentai pasta was nice a creamy and the bacon bits added nice flavor. The rolls were also good but nothing to write home about so I might sub these for another dish the next time. Service was great and will definitely find myself back here at some point!

Reservations become available 14 days in advance on Resy, so I'd highly recommend booking early to secure a table during normal eating hours. Sadly, since it was just the two of us, we couldn't sample as much of the menu as we wanted. Our server recommended a hot appetizer and a fancier option from their Summer Special menu: KARAAGE - 14 Each order came with five thick pieces of chicken karaage. The chicken arrived hot and juicy, seasoned well enough to be enjoyed on its own or dipped in the side of shichimi mayo. This was a great appetizer to share, and I'd recommend it if you're looking for a reliable classic. TEMAKI SET - 95 Served in roughly an 8"x8" wooden box, this set was lavishly topped toro, Hokkaido uni, ikura, and possibly Iberian ham, with crispt nori sheets on the side to make DIY handrolls. After scooping a bit of everything into a little wrap, I was greeted with the most intense, fresh sea flavors. The toro and Iberian ham were fatty and buttery, blending seamlessly with the velvety smooth uni and the fresh, bursting pops of ikura. I had to pause after every bite just to deeply savor it, and I lost count of how many times I said, "Wow, this is so good." Since I don't live in NYC, I generally avoid repeating restaurants even if I enjoyed them. However, Ozakaya is an exception to this rule -- it's easily one of the best meals I've eaten during all my recent visits. I don't know where they source their seafood, but it's incredibly fresh and packed with umami. Even days after, I'm still thinking about the velvety sweetness of that uni, and I can't wait for my next visit.

The menu is pretty diverse with various appetizers, sushi, and also ramen/curry so your standard izakaya fare. One of my favorite dishes here has been the chirashi. The fish was very fresh and it's pretty affordable. It's been open for a few years, so clearly it has a good enough formula to keep the neighborhood happy. I have been here once before, but returned last week after dining several meals at Tomoni in Jackson Heights. Apparently, the owners are friends. Nonetheless, I needed to make the comparison. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute. If I have a craving for some decent Japanese food, I would drive 20 minutes here for a meal anytime.

While wandering through Bed-Stuy on a weekday evening, my husband and I decided to try out this new…read moresushi spot. It wasn't terrible--but I had a lot of mixed feelings. Food: 3/5 I'm a huge sushi fan, so I was excited when I saw a deluxe sashimi set on the menu. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The scallop was thinly sliced and lacked the rich texture I was hoping for. The salmon and other cuts were decent, but short and oddly shaped--chunky yet small, which made the whole presentation feel a bit off for something labeled deluxe. We also tried to branch out and ordered the short rib entree. For $21, it was shockingly small--definitely a single-person portion, not sharable. I added extra ikura to a salmon donburi bowl for $2, but it was barely a teaspoon's worth--just enough to say it was there. Oddly, the salmon slices in that bowl were thinner than the sashimi we had just eaten, and overall, it left me still hungry even after sharing a maki roll. Lastly, my husband ordered a green salad, which somehow took the entire meal service to arrive. When it finally came, it was just plain romaine, cucumbers, radish, and dressing. For a dinner that clocked in at over $150 (after tip), we definitely left underwhelmed. Service: 3/5 This part wasn't bad, just confusing. We were seated quickly, but the pacing of the meal was strange. Our seaweed salad and soups came out promptly, but the green salad came last, after the hot dishes and nearly after my husband finished eating. Also, a small thing--but when I'm paying $16 for four oysters, I want to know what kind they are. The menu just said "West Coast oysters," but our server couldn't tell us the variety or origin. Not a huge deal, but it added to a general lack of polish that didn't quite match the pricing. I don't think I'd return. For the price, there are better sushi options in Brooklyn with higher quality, better portions, and clearer service. Still, I appreciate new spots opening up in the neighborhood, and I'm always happy to try something new. Hopefully they refine the menu and service with time.

We started with the salmon belly carpaccio which I'd say isn't really a carpaccio because the salmon isn't sliced as thinly as you'd expect. But! I mention that just to set expectations. Nomenclature aside, it's an excellent appetizer. Served in a truffle and ponzu sauce, the salmon is lightly seared which yields two different textures to the fish. It practically melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this dish. For my entree I went with the trio don, which is 6 pieces of sashimi served over your choice of plain or sushi rice (sushi rice for me). The fish was fresh and flavorful. The portion was perfect for me. My boyfriend ordered a yellowtail roll and enjoyed that as well. We also shared a carafe of the cold house sake. I'd definitely come back and try more items on the menu. It's great for sharing and trying new dishes. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable.
