Very pushy sales people. Just uncomfortable - couldn't wait to get out of there. They seemed to have a nice selection of fireplaces on display, but I don't do high pressure sales. Ended up going to a place on 355 and Shady Grove Road that have been around for over 20 years where they have more of a laid back atmosphere (but they really know their stuff). After you cut through all the sales and discount hype at Cyprus, the other place is about the same price without all the pressure. read more

Horrible experience, so upset that I did not read reviews on YELP first. we went to this location on a Sunday because it was the only place open on a Sunday and we wanted to purchase a gas fireplace in our new home , we didn't think it would be that complicated- pretty straightforward installation. The problem first has been with the customer service and scheduling. After they took our money they schedule the installation pretty soon I think only a week or so after we paid, But then it took four weeks to schedule the county to come out and inspect it we failed inspection because there was a leak. It took another four weeks for them to come out and fix the leak. Now we're waiting for another inspection and then they have to come out again to turn it on? We started this process in mid September, it's December 11th , still no fireplace. I just wish we gone somewhere else. read more

I read Google Reviews instead of Yelp... I should have read Yelp first. Horrible experience: 1. Purchased units at Falls Church location on 12/4/2018... was told that they we backed-up so it could be as late as the 2nd week in February for the install. 2. On 12/6/2018 scheduled site inspection/installation on 1/11/19. 3. On 1/11/19, site inspection happened and a chimney clean was ordered. 4. On 1/24/19, chimney visit happened... I call it a visit because they didn't clean... in and out in less than 5 minutes. $200 for looking up my chimney. I called and wrote Cyprus and they told me not to worry. So I ordered a chimney brush and vacuumed up more than 2 pounds of ash/soot. This is when I should have known that they were scammers. 5. ~2/20/2019, the stories about the manufacturer not having the products started to flow in because I was continuing to ask about my "2nd week in February" install. Over 20 documented calls and emails. I was told "Due to a very busy season the manufacturer had a delay in production." 6. On 3/1/2019, I started to call around to suppliers to see if the products were available and found out three things... 1. I really overpaid. 2. the products were readily available. 3. That the 2 products actually came from different manufacturers: Hearth & Home Technologies Inc and Hargrove Premium Products. I told Cyprus that the products were available and magically they said that the were now being "shipped" to them which would take a couple of weeks... more lies. 7. On 3/20/2019, the installer shows up but states that he can't finish because of a scheduling problem and that his helper has to leave early. 8. On 3/21/2019... more delays for Cyprus... they said that they must have my 3/20/2019 installer come back but he's not available until April. I forgot to mention that they started to charge me $80/month for a service agreement back in February. So needless to say I have to get the word out to help others avoid these painful experiences. They never called so I called them and was told they needed key to gas room (same key that was there before) rescheduled install. they came back and lied about not being able to do job. I said "fine" and they were to provide deposit refund. Two weeks no refund have called them and told wait another week. Cyprus Air technician was scheduled to come on a Monday and called that morning saying the employee did not show up, that's ok, it happens. So they came the next day and needed a ladder, which they did not have, so they left. The company called the following day & said they were not sure when they could get a ladder (a 6' ladder). At this point I was not confident that they would be able to do the job since they did not have basic tools or really care. I called James A. Wheat & they came the following day, they had all the necessary tools, did a full diagnostic & repairs without any hesitation or needing to leave. I think Cyprus Air should spend less money on Ads, buy the proper tools and provide training to do the work, the 1st time. read more

Mixed review. Cyprus installed HVAC and water heater for us. Prompt quote, reasonable price ans warranties and quick installation date. Installers came when scheduled and installed everything in a day. Left a mess of oily fingerprints and bootprints outside the furnace room. Showed everything was working, briefly showed us how the digital thermostat worked and left. Furnace worked from day 1. When it came time to turn on the AC....nada even though they showed us it was running. Called in Cyprus and they determined that the installers had not even finished the wiring hookups that would allow the AC to even come on. Quickly fixed with a smile and no charges. Forward to February 2019. Used 230 gals of oil since Dec (unheard of in the past) and the AC is coming on right after the furnace runs. Turns out the same installers set the thermostat up to run as a heat pump. We have a heat pump unit because no straight AC unit were available. Quick fix that took two service calls. FRAUD. STAY AWAY. ANY POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE SUSPECT. UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES ON CREDIT CARD. ILLEGITIMATE PRACTICES. INEXPERIENCED CONTRACTORS. DEALING WITH CYPRUS CORRUPTION FOR OVER A YEAR. We hired them for a wood to gas fireplace conversion. 11/13/17 got two estimates; one on a wood to gas conversion fireplace (for us) and one on a gas log insert only (for mother-n-law). Found out online ourselves the gas log insert quoted didn't exist. She went with someone else. Cyprus (I have all the names on file) told us we would be contacted on 11/19/17 to let us know the time the Cyprus rep would be showing up for consult. No one called or returned our calls. On 11/20/17 a Cyprus rep shows up without calling ahead. We're told our conversion can be done with no damage to our house interior and no extra gas line. Afterwards 11/22/17-12/18/17 numerous calls to Cyprus have gone unanswered. 12/22/17 - two Cyprus reps show up to do the gas line installation. They destroyed our interior wall by the stairwell because they couldn't figure how to put the gas line through any other way. When we signed off on the original contract we were informed we probably wouldn't need an additional gas line and definitely no interior damage would be done. We were informed Cyprus would take care of any dry wall work due to all the damage. They did not. Also, three different holes were drilled in our walls because they kept making mistakes. Found out later the two individuals assigned to this task had NO EXPERIENCE in residential work only in commercial. Cyprus also brought the INCORRECT LOG SET. The program manager then informed us we could not proceed with the installation since we did not have the proper log set. On 12/27/17 Cyprus charged the full balance to my credit card WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION since the installation had not been completed. Left several messages and received no return call. OVERCHARGED $350 as well. On 01/02/18 Neighbors and I noticed a very STRONG ODOR OF GAS coming from the area of installation in our backyard. Left several messages with Cyprus and no return call. On 01/08/18 contacted the gas company. The gas company confirmed the gas leak and said it was due to IMPROPER INSTALLATION by Cyprus. Contacted Cyprus again. On 01/10/18 Cyprus sent someone out to patch up the gas leak and put in our correct log set. However, pressure inspection was supposed to be done first so Cyprus rep couldn't install the log set. 01/24/18 Inspection set up with Cyprus & WSSC. Cyprus rep leaves before WSSC rep gets there since we needed to have the LOG SET installed before pressure inspection. Contradiction! FAILED INSPECTION - gas leak still occurring at the valve that Cyprus installed and tried to patch incorrectly. Another Cyprus rep come and alongside WSSC rep fixed valve. 02/02/18 Passed pressure test. Cyprus said someone would come out on 02/09 or 02/12 to install the correct log set. NO SHOW. On 02/21 Cyprus rep came and had to redo everything since the gas shutoff valve was put in by another Cyprus rep in the WRONG PLACE. Cyprus rep left to get more tools and while he was gone another rep showed who said he was supposed to help and undid everything the previous rep did. Once the previous rep came back he had to redo everything the other rep did - UNBELIEVABLE Paid out of our own pocket $318.00 to fix the damage they had done during installation. 03/19/18 - Inspection scheduled - NO SHOW 04/04/18 - FAILED INSPECTION again. Cyprus incorrectly put steel and pipe copper unions together. 04/07/18 - Cyprus representative to redo the piping. NO SHOW. On 04/25/28 Pipe corrected. Passed inspection. Installation complete. Told Cyprus would come out in the Fall for maintenance. The maintenance agreement that they sign you up for is billed monthly & Cyprus says its necessary otherwise warranty can be void. If you read the fine print the warranty prerequisite is that the fireplace inspection pass. We passed on 04/25/18 however Cyprus started charging me as of 12/1/17. Illegal to charge maintenance when there is nothing to maintain! Paid one month before I realized it. After much back & forth they said they would give a credit for 5 months meaning $200 against this maintenance plan. Therefore $240 (includes earlier pmt) should take us through Oct. 10/22/18 sent email to Cyprus that no one came for the Fall Inspection. Cyprus said they wouldn't send anyone until I paid $280 ($480 less $200 credit) the full maintenance in advance! After my missed work, carpenter bills, failed inspections, inaccurate credit card charges and gas leaks. 11/06/18 - They said they would credit $280.00 off my account. 11/07/18- They said they wouldn't. 11/08/18 - They say I now owe $240. They need to be AUDITED. The percentage of employee turnover at this company is also staggering. Peter Demetriou (the GM) should focus less $ on advertising. First,it took long time to install the fireplace, with different face, because the one we ordered was discontinued by the manufacturer. They promised $150 discount, but it hasn't applied and I am still trying to fix the issue. fireplace insert flame looks fake and more like a big blue letter X even in the highest setting. I expected a linear flame like the one I saw in the showroom. The one in the showroom had also more stone than the installed one! Disappointed. Very disappointed with this company. In prep for selling a house I needed to replace a fireplace insert. After consulting with the sales person I decided on gas logs instead of an insert due to the cost. As one of their employees indicated - the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. It took multiple visits to the house to complete the installation. I was told I needed a damper, after the logs were installed and thought that the company was coming back to install one based on my discussions with various employees. They came back to install a cover for the controls and then I was told I don't need a damper - but they could put one in for an additional $1500. Extremely unprofessional and not customer oriented. I got the feeling that this company is solely focused on high volume sales. I will never use them or recommend them. read more

We have a service agreement with Cyprus air and this was the yearly maintenance. The technician Bill was polite, efficient and very good at his job. He cleaned replaced and checked all parts of the fire and after talking to him I decided to continue in the presidential service plan instead of down grading to a cheaper but less beneficial plan. Cyprus - fraud, terrible service, broken insert, gas leak... terrible, terrible company I wish I could give negative stars! This company is horrible - terrible service, poor quality, expensive, and invent ways to get money from the customers. In September we ordered a fireplace insert, in October we were notified it was the wrong size and thought we reordered one. However, two weeks later found out no one at the company ordered it - although they took our money for it. When it was finally ordered, they delivered half of it, unpacked it - then didn't come back for several weeks. They put in the gas line but created a gas leak. Cyprus argued with us about it, but finally did send someone out to fix it. The technician was less than pleasant. Two weeks later, someone finally showed up to finish the installation, and realized half the parts were missing, told us it was our responsibility to get them. The order clearly showed we ordered and paid for the entire fireplace insert, surround, remote, etc... Cyprus made numerous appointments to come out and re-measure for the missing parts, but no one ever showed up. When we checked our credit card statement, we discovered they were charging us for a maintenance contract - for something they had yet to install! We used the insert twice, it stopped working. We have made repeated calls to the company, scheduled appointments to fix it, provide the missing equipment, finalize the permit, etc... but no one ever shows up and the company doesn't return phone calls. We are now in our fourth month of a project that was supposed to take a few weeks - and can't get any answers from the company. Our last recourse will be to take them to small claims court. Considering them? Don't. They'll take your money, and fail to deliver - or deliver an expensive, broken, crap product. read more

This is a horrible company. They are sellers of product but have the worst installation and post sale service I have ever seen. I would not purchase anything from this company. We purchased a gas log fireplace from them a year ago. After 12 months they could not get the installation correct and I am left with a fireplace with no fire and a gas smell. I called this week to see if they would rectify. Nope. They wanted to charge an inspection for $420 to determine the problem instead of fixing a flawed install. The other choice was to pay $200 and sign up for a monthly maintenance fee of $22 per month. Are you kidding me!!! Don't do the brain damage. Do not know why they are still in business. They make appointments for service and then they call at the last minute to reschedule. Then they are late by over an hour for the new appointment. Their advertisements do not tell the whole story. Backup generators with 6 year interest free financing are sold for up to $7,000 more than you can buy one with payment (cash or credit) upon completion of installation. So isn't the $7,000 really interest on a 6 year loan? Ads say you can heat your house for less than 10 cents per hour but the unit they sold me barely heats 5' of my living room. Second fireplace free but they don't mention you have to pay installation costs. I can find no redeeming reasons to buy anything from Cyprus Air. read more

My gas fireplace (direct vent) stopped working a couple of days ago. I was distressed so say the least, as it heats my lower level and even my main level. And, it prevents my furnace from running continually, so it saves me money! I called Cyprus Air and Bill, the service man, came out the next morning early and thoroughly cleaned the system and now it works perfectly! I am so pleased with the prompt and excellent service I received. I will definitely call Cyprus Air in the future when I replace and remodel my existing gas fireplace. (I intend to install a brand new fireplace with stone all the way to the ceiling which is approximately 10 feet tall). But, that will be done some time in the future. Right now, my existing fireplace is an old unit, but thanks to Bill, it's working like a champ! read more

I had a complete HVAC system replacement done by Cyprus over a year ago to include a new hot water tank (gas). This week when we cut the heat on for the first time this season - no heat. I checked everything I could and had to call Cyprus to get it fixed. They were able to come to the house the same day as my call and after a bit of trouble-shooting, they were able to diagnose it as a broken thermostat and they fortunately had a replacement in the truck. The new thermostat worked and I now have heat! I didn't know thermostats could go bad in a year but fortunately it was under warranty. I really like the same day service and their getting right to the root of the problem and getting everything back to an operational state. read more

Started the process to get a gas fireplace in October. Specifically wanted it for Christmas. I paid half at the beginning of the process and Balance once it was installed December 11th. That date should've been a clue. What I didn't know is it will be another 3 weeks( January 2/2019) before it can be inspected. Well who cares right. Problem is they don't hook it up for use till then. So I have a gas fireplace that is paid for ( almost $4,000) and can't be used. I have a house full of guests and no fireplace. When I explained all this I was told someone would get back to me, to try and move up the date. May I note, it's not WSSC thats holding up the process, but Cypress . They pulled a permit already . Anyway, just wanted to let you know , this process is long and if you want it for a specific period , plan at least 5 months ahead !! I hope the fireplace works .
