He was really friendly, let us know what our options were, and then kept us informed as he was working. He also answered a bunch of questions we had about the gas lines and myriad gas appliances in our house at the same time. The pricing was very reasonable as well. Honestly, we thought we were going to have to buy a new burner set and had given up on the idea of fires this winter, but by the time Kyle left, we were enjoying our first fire in the house. I can see through the glass! and the logs and the pained box make it look brand new !!!! I had some issues with my older gas fire place. I called a company near by and they were unable to fix it. Because I wasn't so sure that what they were saying was right, I wrote a message on the neighborhood app and Steve the Fireplace was highly recommended. He then messaged me about being able to help me with my issue. Either way, they came out and were able to diagnose the issue for the fireplace and will be able to fix it!! Although it took 2 months for the service appointment because Steve is so good and is in demand, it was worth the wait.... Steve is a master plumber who decided to do just fireplace service in 1995 (he said snaking drains was not that fun!)....and has been doing it everyday ever since....knows fireplaces inside and out..... Came within the quoted time frame, assessed the fireplace and possible problems very methodically....he was actually fixing a gas leak from our 9 year old gas fireplace that another fireplace company caused but would not/could not fix....... He basically took the entire fireplace apart, inspected, cleaned, resealed and replaced 1 hose....and everything work perfectly now, no odor of gas..... ...he explained everything, and didn't try to sell or push any unnecessary services....a real gentleman and hard worker....and for 4.5 hours of work, the cost was surprisingly low! I cannot recommend Steve enough! He is the man to fix your fireplace....the wait for an appointment is well worth it! read more

We have worked with Steve and Tyler before in the past and were very satisfied. I do not know what is going on with their admin staff (Laura) but it has been impossible to get an appointment. It seems she checks her voice and email mssge only once a day, forgets who she is working with and is generally not interested in customers and making appts. Steve serviced our gas fireplace today. He spent 3 1/2 hours meticulously working on it. He did an outstanding job leaving us a beautiful, clean and much more vibrant centerpiece to our family room. He offered helpful tips for preventing the problem (fireplace produced a lot of soot due to gas logs being moved by tenants) next time, and even cleaned off my mantle for me using his own cleaning spray. steve did a great job installing our fireplace. he and his crew ran a gas line and installed a gas insert for us. after several weeks of use, the stove stopped working. he came by and found that one of the electrical modules was burnt, likely from a manufacturing defect. he got the part from the company and came back to replace it. have been using it for 4 weeks, and works just fine now. Steve Swerdlin, known as Steve the Fireplace Guy, did everything we needed for our new gas fireplace. Steve did the following: 1.cleaned up our fireplace, 2.recommended a chimney sweep (who worked on cleaning the larger chimney), 3. installed our fireplace insert, 4.set up the fireplace coals so they were perfect, 5.set up the remote control, 6. adjusted the flames to our taste, cleaned up the area, 7. repainted the fireplace surround, and 8. has been doing maintenance and repairs on the fireplace as needed (initially 18 months after installation). Steve arrives on time, works thoughtfully, cares about the appearance of his work, cleans up the area, and does a terrific job of ensuring that the final fireplace installation exactly meets your expectations. My husband and I both love working with Steve as he really understands why people want gas fireplaces. He makes these wonderful devices work easily and beautifully. His good work has given us a lot of pleasure over the Fall, Winter and Spring we have had the fireplace he installed. Practically speaking, we have worked with two other fireplace companies in the past, both recommended by Angie's List. Neither of them were anywhere near as good, helpful, and cooperative as Steve. One of them almost burned down our house by reworking a former fireplace so it melted the electrical cables and burned into the gas line. Steve is careful, thoughtful, and brilliant with fireplaces. I just had to write this review. Steve the Fireplace Guy has been checking and cleaning my gas fireplace in my condo for the past three years.I found him on Next Door with glowing reviews. The reviews were all correct, Steve is terrific. This year I decided it was time to have all the air ducts cleaned as well as my dryer vent. Just as I was wondering who to call, I got a card in the mail from Steve saying that now, in addition to checking and cleaning fireplaces, he does Air Duct cleaning AND Dryer Vent cleaning! I know how meticulous Steve is just from watching him work on my fireplace, so I called and scheduled all three cleanings. Steeve is AMAZING! He brought one of his workers, Tyler with him, also amazing, and they were here the entire day, most of which was the Air Duct cleaning. They cleaned out all the air ducts, (I have about 15), and they cleaned all the grilles before putting them back over the ducts. Before they left at the end of the day, they took the time to vacuum and wipe down everything in all the areas where they worked. Steve has a bit of OCD about cleanliness and everything being in order. After they left, I felt like the housekeepers had just been here.....I'm not kidding! Maybe this is all in my head, but I swear the air inside my home fee;s fresher, cleaner and somehow lighter than before. Yo will have an exceptional experience with Steve and his guys.
