After more than a half hour wait they said there were delays due to lunch breaks and it was STILL a 30-40 minute wait. Sick with chills and nauseous. Had to leave and go home. I went here for a regular x ray after my order was sent in by fax by the doctor's office. I was asked to give my id and sit, which I did and ended up waiting for 20 minutes for nothing. Once they finally did call my name, I was told that they could not find my order. I double checked with the doctor's office, and they had sent it in. However, when I pointed this out, I was even asked if I was sure that they sent it to 'Washington Radiology' and that I should tell them to 'resend'... No comment... I wasted a trip for nothing and after this treatment I will be going somewhere else. My guess is either they lost it or someone misspelled my surname while entering the order into the computer since its an out of the ordinary name. Not to mention, I saw at least 3 people in the waiting room complaining about the long wait and asking 'how much longer will it take'. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before going to WRA. I chose WRA for convenience-- I could get mammo and dexascan on the same day. Scheduling was fine. The day of the mammo I filled out the online request for redults. (Why should this even be nrcessary?) 2 weeks after the mammo, I got a call from WRA asking when I'd like to schedule a follow-up mammo. I had no idea what they were talking about. Turns out my mammo showed an abnormality in one breast, and there was a "technical" issue with the other breast which they wouldn't explain, but I later found out meant they had not completely imaged that breast. By the time I got this phone call I had just left for a lengthy vacation. Nothing had come in the mail or email. I decided to do the follow up mammo elsewhere because communication was so bad at WRA. But I had to get the images from WRA to the other facility. WRA agreed to have them ready on a certain date and time. I went in person to pick them up, and of course they weren't ready. Not only that, the receptionist was rude and acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. Finally I got her to go and ask someone else. She came back and ( rudely) told me to sit down, and the image would be prepared but she didn't know how long it would take. 30 min later I walked out with the images. The abnormality resulted in a biopsy, which I could have had done much earlier if WRA had communicated my results within a few days as other radiologists do. I am hoping for the best. Delays in communicating abnormal results can be serious. read more

Summary: If you are anxious or care about bedside manner. DO NOT GO HERE. One of my worst healthcare experiences ever. Anxiety is not fun. I went to my MRI and explained that I was nervous. The tech seemed nice at first, but after he strapped my foot to the platform, his attitude changed. He came across cold and insensitive. I had made it very clear, that I was extremely anxious and he seemed annoyed. Things he said that increased my anxiety that only someone who has anxiety would understand. Tech: Keep your toes still on this foot. Me: Can I move the other foot? Tech: There your pictures if you ruin them. Tech: We are starting over because you are moving. Me: (Thinking I have been completely still). I am doing my best. Tech: Your images say otherwise. read more

When making the appointment Candice and Andi were incredibly helpful. Alina is by far the best tech Ive ever had. She's warm and personable and makes you feel at ease while having to do a very unfun thing (pelvic exam and transvaginal ultrasound). They are taking covid precautions very seriously! Tests for fever, Questions about symptoms to check, no extra guests/accompanying ppl, social distancing in the seating area. You feel very safe and taken care of. read more

THE VERY WORST THING ABOUT WRA IS THEIR TELEPHONE SYSTEM! if you ever reach anyone, many have an "I don't give a damn about you" attitude. I had a terrible time trying to reach anyone to change an appt and NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK! So today I was in Washington and I stopped in at the WRA office on K Street and I could not believe it when they told me they could do the MRI today!! Cindy did the test and I must say that she is a star. I was able to stay still through all the tests primarily because of her and her fantastic attitude. I had stopped going to WRA in DC partly because of the attitude of the front desk staff in the mammogram dept. but if one needs an MRI, they now have the new machines that are open at each end which makes the experience much more tolerable. This clinic seems to be hit or miss for most people. This is a shame because it was definitely a hit for me, and I wish everyone could have a similar experience. Calling to make an appointment for an ultrasound was incredible easy; it took about ten minutes as a new patient, I was able to make an appointment for a week out, and all of my questions were gladly answered by the lady on the phone. The customer service at the clinic was also fantastic. It was clear exactly what I needed to fill out and provide to the receptionist, and she talked to me as if I was a friend and just a patient partly paying for her salary. The sonographer was gentle and informative, and he made me feel at ease. I wasn't expecting the doctor to come in and talk to me about my results after (although maybe that's normal). All within 45 minutes, I had the ultrasound finished, knew what they found, and knew the next steps for my care. I hope I can request this clinic if I need another service in the future. read more

Washington Radiology's first mammogram appointment of the day is at 6:45 am. I made the appointment and received an email confirmation that said to arrive 15 minutes early. When I arrived at about 6:25, the office building was locked. I was finally let into the building and took a seat in the dark first-floor office of Washington Radiology. The door was unlocked, but no staff appeared for approximately 10 minutes. The woman who appeared said that my appointment was booked at the Washington Radiology office on an upper floor, but that the building elevators were not unlocked until 6:45 am. Don't they have this problem EVERY DAY? Why don't they do anything to fix it?! When I was ready for my exam, the technician did not come out to get me. She shouted to me from the back to "come back here." Her attitude was uncaring, and she ripped the skin under my breast by pulling it on the plastic plate. Literally blood. Her response was: "It happens sometimes." I asked for a antiseptic wipe or Neosporin, and was told at first that they "didn't have any," then that "it wasn't good to use it under the breast." NO WONDER people don't want to get mammograms!!! read more

Went with this place because it was recommended my Dr. Humm of GWU MFA. This review will cover Suites 900 and 100. **IMPORTANT notes: street parking is limited, so plan on arriving at least 20 minutes prior to your planned arrival time in order to find parking. If you can't find parking, two hours is $18.00 (valet only) (plan on two hours because the service for Suite 900 is inefficient), and the parking structure is immediately to the left of the WRA main entrance.** Suite 900 was okay. I would give it two or three stars out of five and here are the reasons why. My appointment was scheduled for 8:45, so I arrived on time. I still waited almost 30 minutes before being called in. After being called in I changed into the gown and booties, then waited another 15 to 20 minutes before being taken to the HSG room. Dr. Brown was excellent, and Sophia was terrific. Dr. B answered all of my questions before and after the procedure. Upon check out I was given a CD to give my doctor. Suite 100 was a much better experience. I arrived very early and was called in a timely manner. I changed into the gown and booties before doing injections and blood testing. The technician administering these injections had to try more than two times to get a good vein [Ijaz was his name]. However, as frustrating as that was, he did a five-star job with everything else--setting me up for the MRI, making sure that I was comfortable, etc. Also upon check out here I was given a CD to give to my doctor. I recommend calling ahead to verify fasting info, etc. I didn't have trouble with my appointment but a patient showed up for her appointment and was irate because she was not informed that her appointment had been cancelled due to a machine out of service. Overall, fairly satisfied with the services provided. However, Suite 900 must do something about the amount of time between a scheduled appointment and time of check out. I've been here several times for ultrasounds and CT's Be prepared to wait. I arrived 15 mins early for an appointment but was not taken back until a half hour after my scheduled time. At first, I was a little frustrated that nobody updated me on the delay or apologized. However, that changed with my technician. Irina is super nice and we had a great conversation about the schools where I've subbed. She apologized for my having to wait, though I honestly wasn't surprised since the waiting room was packed on account of Veteran's Day. Not that my ultrasounds were uncomfortable, but if I had a somewhat uncomfortable procedure at WRA, I know Irina would do whatever she could to make me comfortable. Irina usually does my ultrasounds, but I've had different techs for CT scans. She gets an automatic 5 stars! I haven't interacted with any of the docs after the CT scans, but I have seen three after ultrasounds: Anthony Barone, Ahalya Premkumar, and Valencia King. Dr. Premkumar was okay, but not as warm as other docs I've seen. I've seen Dr. Barone twice, and not only is he friendly, but he remembered me on my recent visit though I had not seen him in a year and a half! I only saw Dr. King once but she seemed pretty nice. read more

Unfortunately I've gotten a ton of CT scans in the past 12 months. Almost all of them have been at GW Hospital. After coming to WRA, I have one thing to say to GW radiology dept: YOU SUCK! Let's compare: 1. I called on a Thursday afternoon, got an appointment for Monday morning. I had my pick too! 8 am? No problem. 8:30? Sure! 9- if you want! And why did I call up WRA? Because GW couldn't get me in until October (over 2 weeks away). Hmm.... 2. Here they give you a little area to change and where you can hang your shirt up. GW? Sure, there is a changing room, but you have to put all your stuff in a plastic bag and carry it around with you. What fun! 3. I got to WRA at 8:30 and was out a little before 10 AM. GWU? The shortest amount of time I've been there for the same procedure has been 2 hours. The longest has been over 3.5 hours. YUCK. 4. WRA gives you a robe to wear (plus a normal gown). Yeah, you get to feel like a high roller. GW? You have the pleasure of walking around the 2nd floor of GW hospital in a regular gown- woo hoo. Overall I was pretty impressed by WRA. They were efficient and pretty friendly (in GW's defense, every one I've met there has also been very nice). So if you need a CT scan, consider going to WRA. Definitely pick it over GW. read more

I wholeheartedly believe that this location should be shut down. I had my first mammogram 8 months ago and I am still traumatized by the experience. I have never been in the presence of such unprofessional, uncaring, and callous health professionals. They did not have my specific order for a diagnostic mammogram and I had to call my OBGYN repeatedly and leave messages in order for me to complete the mammogram as they said a form was not enough. Then when I went into the room with the technician, she outlined multiple areas in my breast that she said were "concerning" while she was not a doctor. She then repeatedly said, "we hope it's ok, but we do not know." I began to panic and have an anxiety attack and asked for my husband to be in the room, and she said she would find out. She left for almost 5 minutes while I was stuck half naked in the room. I may have run out of there and she came back and said they have to finish. She then offered further medical information that I had no sense of what it meant. Finally, the radiologist said there is nothing concerning after I left the room and she looked at the image. It is shocking the would treat women and their health and lives this way and create such a terrifying environment, something out of a horror movie. Do not go here at any cost, go to Sibley Breast Center or Fairfax radiology. They will treat you as a human being as many friends have said. read more

As I shared in my letter to the company, "You should be ashamed of the way you have chosen to operate. I hope that this causes someone to take a step back and take a very hard look at your processes. You are dealing with real people - daughters, mothers, wives, aunts - who are trying to be proactive in their health care and when called back, are feeling real fear about what they might find." I wanted to share my positive experience at Washington Radiology's K Street office. The front office staff greeted me pleasantly and I didn't have a long wait before being called back. Raquel, the tech, made me feel comfortable and at ease. When I asked for a thyroid guard prior to my mammogram, she didn't make me feel awkward about it. The best part about the visit was my conversation with the radiologist, Dr. Anjali Malik. She was thoughtful and considerate, and I didn't feel rushed. In addition, she went out of her way to write down some information for me to do more research and provided the name of a practice she thought highly of in the area. With a 2.5 star rating, I am surprised that Washington Radiology has more than 1 star. Again, they failed me by not returning my call. Over a month ago, my doctor said that I need to get a MRI asap. After several calls and leaving messages ... NO CALL BACK. Last week, I actually got a real person on the phone at WR (had to dial the # for doctors only). So I got a real person. That person promised someone would call me back on Friday or Saturday. NO CALL BACK. So today, I'm calling my insurance carrier to complain about WR and to ask for a reliable practice that could do an MRI. Washington Radiology doesn't even deserve the 2.5 stars it has. I'm reviewing because I know that most people don't think to review places like this unless they have bad experiences, but I would definitely recommend Washington Radiology to anyone who needs imaging. I had a CT, MRI, and my first ever mammogram done here, and each experience was smooth, with excellent, friendly lab techs. When one of the tests showed something potentially alarming, I got to talk to a doctor there that day, who was able to discern that it wasn't anything to worry about after all. (I wish you the very same outcome with your imaging, if you are going in for something unnerving.) A note on scheduling: after reading reviews here, I was worried about their process, because you do have to do it online and wait for someone to call you back. But in my case, for both the CT and the MRI, they called me back that day. (The mammogram took a bit longer.) Also, in one case, my doctor didn't get the results quickly, but when I called WRA to follow up and left a message, they quickly returned my call to say they had sent the results, but were faxing the results right away just in case. I thought they handled it effectively. I will be going back to WRA for my future imaging needs. read more

I actually returned to this place with some apprehension and anxiety about the front desk staff but was pleasantly surprised that the reception was warm and welcoming. That ended when I went in for the actual mammogram exam and met the rudest, most hostile, X-ray tech. She was unprofessional, disrespectful, and spoke to me with such disdain. It is amazing that someone like her can actually keep a job in such a facility. This practice really needs to review staff behavior and provide sensitivity training to their staff. These 5 stars goes to the AMAZING MRI Technician ALEX!!! So my veins were rolling and as a result, I had to get stick multiple times to find a cooperative vein. Then when they told me they had to stick me on my wrist, the tears started to flow and my nerves was starting to rise. Not only did ALEX did an excellent job calming me down, he wiped the tears from my eyes!!! So after that, the MRI machine starts to move and I freak out! Once again, Alex came to the rescue and calmed me down again! We did breathing exercises, he told me to concentrate on the painting that was behind the machine (it was a mirror inside the MRI machine so I could see a reflection of it) and eventually I was calm again. Throughout the MRI procedure, Alex checked on me multiple times making sure I was ok and keeping me updated on how much time I had left in the machine. That was my first time getting an MRI and I appreciate Alex for helping me throughout the whole process; from the time he introduced himself to when my procedure was over. He was EXCELLENT! They are a complete mess. Do not do your mammograms with them! First of all, they take forever for you to get your results. Second, when they call you back after a need for additional slides, they make you wait weeks for you to get a diagnostic mammogram. They also take forever to send the Radiology report to your doctor. When you try to get an earlier appointment, they have scheduled me with offices which are closed for the day (with no apologies). I would urge you to go elsewhere for mammogram services. read more

Some lumps had been found 18 months before that I had been having 6-month follow-ups on, and now was time for the final follow-up. I haven't found a doctor here yet (I've been here two months!). Still I was able to set up an appointment online 3 weeks before, even after speaking with staff. I got an email confirmation from them. I requested my records from Cigna (they hadn't arrived yet.) I showed up for my appointment with my insurance card.... and the surely desk clerk turned me away because I didnt have a doctor listed and didnt have an order. So now I get the stress of having to deal with all this yet again, have to delay this follow up and wonder if I have cancer... but at least I know to go somewhere else. You should, too.
