I am in total agreement with others who have criticized the scheduling system at WR. I spent several days trying to get to a scheduler only to get transferred by an auto attendant and then told no one is available to told to leave a message or make an appointment online. read more

Scheduling my MRI was tremendously frustrating - I called multiple times and left several voicemails over the course of a week and the phone just rang and rang and no voicemails were ever returned. I finally got a direct email address for the MRI center by speaking with a general scheduler and that helped establish communication. Despite the initial scheduling challenges, the actual MRI was a breeze. Friendly receptionist and very kind and warm radiologist who made my 1.5 hour scan really easy and pleasant despite my anxiety. read more

My experience with Washington Radiology is that they are *very* slow to provide test results. I have had several tests done there, mostly routine MRI, and they are often late. They say that results will be available in "two to three" business days. This time we are on business day 7, real time 11 days. My doctor's office has called twice and they have been unsuccessful. If this were the first time, I would chalk it up to bad luck. But by now it's a pattern of bad behavior. If you go to Washington Radiology, be prepared to wait a long time. read more

This one-star review is not based on the quality of medical treatment. Washington Radiology was so incompetent and nonresponsive that I was never able to get treatment here at all. This rating reflects Washington Radiology's complete indifference to providing patient service -- particularly Dr. Sandra Allison. My experience with Washington Radiology started when my primary care practice ordered an ultrasound on my arm. I first made an appointment online at Washington Radiology's Chevy Chase location. When I arrived I was told that (1) they only accepted online appointments for screening exams, and (2) their location had no appointments for several weeks. The Chevy Chase office made me an appointment at Washington Radiology's Bethesda location for a subsequent day. However, when I arrived at the Bethesda office, I was told that their office did not perform the type of ultrasound I needed. The Chevy Chase location had erred in sending me to Bethesda. The Bethesda office told me that only the DC K Street location of Washington Radiology did the type of ultrasound I needed, and made an appointment for me at that location. By now, having wasted my time visiting two Washington Radiology locations that couldn't help me, I was skeptical. Before my scheduled appointment at the K Street office, I called that office to confirm that they would perform the ultrasound I needed. And it is a good thing I called, because the answer was -- again -- no. K Street only had one doctor -- Sandra Allison -- who could do my ultrasound, and she was not available at the time that they had scheduled for me. By their own admission the Bethesda location had erred by making an appointment for me at that time. And they couldn't even reschedule me easily, because Dr. Allison had her own separate scheduler who they needed to contact. In multiple phone calls, the K Street location assured me they would ask Dr. Allison's scheduler to contact me. I was never contacted. I was eventually able to reach the voicemail of Dr. Allison's scheduler herself, and left a message saying I wanted to schedule an appointment. I never received a phone call back. This is not only the worst incompetence I have ever experienced from a medical practice, it is some of the most indifferent customer service I have experienced at any kind of business. I have been trying to schedule a bone density scan for over 7 months and they have cancelled two appointments and pushed them back. My order expired and I had do to get a new one. They apparently don't have enough technicians. It is a simple procedure so if you are having problems hiring then pay more for the position. My doctor has concerns about osteoporosis and it will be almost a year since she ordered the scan by the time I actually get it. A year I might should have been on medication. After this I will be going somewhere else. read more

Their billing service provider is atrocious. The office significantly overestimated what my cost would be after insurance and overcharged me. I have been calling their billing office for more than three months to get them to refund me for the overpayment to no avail. Each time I've called they tell me it will take months more to process and mail a check. At this point I've filed a dispute with my credit card company instead. It's a shame, because the health service provided was fine, but I have no interest in fighting billing for a year; I won't be using this office's services again. read more

I had a biopsy fall 2022 with Dr Malik, who was great. She looked at my ultrasound and said it was likely benign even before she did the biopsy, so I trusted her to make sound, non-alarmist decisions. When I scheduled my next mammo, I didn't remember I needed a diagnostic mammo and the scheduler did not tell me so I had a screening mammo, and asked the tech to put a note in my file to have Dr. Malik be the one to review it. Afterward, a scheduler who obviously had not looked at my records called me to come back for a diagnostic and made it sound like it was a call back because they saw something concerning, rather than simply a diagnostic that I was supposed to get in the first place - causing unnecessary fear and stress. So I scheduled a diagnostic, asking several times to be sure I was scheduled on a day and at a location when Dr. Malik would be there because continuity of care is so important. When I went back for my diagnostic 1. There was no record in my chart that I wanted to see Dr. Malik 2. Dr Malik had gone for the day 3. My breast was repeatedly squeezed for extra screens of areas that were difficult to reach. The doctor who was there finally said that the areas of concern were likely "artifacts" of the imaging, but thought nothing of having me come back in 6 months for more probably unnecessary radiation, inconvenience, and stress Scheduling should be done by people who have reviewed the patient's file and know what the patient needs. Recommendations for additional mammograms should not be done casually, and for findings that are likely "artifacts." There are negatives to additional unnecessary mammograms including additional radiation, time, and money for the patient, longer waitlists for patients who do need care, and the stress, fear, and pain of an uncomfortable, fear-inducing procedure. Washington Radiology is clearly concerned with profits more than patient health. read more

I had an MRI of my neck because there were several indicators that pointed to the need. The service was punctual, respectful --- and WRA they went away. Both my MD and my Orthopedic Surgeon have been trying to get a call back or a finalized report so that we can devise a course of treatment. No responses. No call backs. No reports. In fact there was been no follow up at all, despite three separate sources calling them. I am going to contact my medical insurance to have them deny the charge and am going to schedule an MRI with Georgetown Hospital Center. This lack of attention and follow up has significantly delayed my treatment and left me in considerable pain. WRA used to be the gold standard. Courteous, professional, efficient, and provided information to my MDs quickly.Not any more. read more

Prior to a screening mammogram Washington Radiology repeatedly calls, texts and even makes robo-calls informing patients that they need to bring a written order. I am on Medicare which does not require a doctor's order for a screening mammogram. I called and (after being on hold a loooong time) asked why I was being bombarded with this false information. The operator confirmed that Washington Radiology does not require orders for screening mammograms. He claimed "some doctors require this but [mine] does not." I call BS. These automated messages and calls are causing HUNDREDS of women per day to think they need an order when they don't. How many doctors waste time writing these orders every day? This is completely unacceptable. No wonder the medical system is a cluster***k of red tape. read more

Absolutely horrible. I went for a scan ordered by my cardiologist. The scan was almost a month ago and "due to staffing issues" the scan has STILL not even been read. The only reason I give one star is because the office staff was nice. This scan was not covered by insurance so I paid out of pocket. Being new to this area; I came for the first time , to do a Mammograms' at Washington Radiology; first I felt it was the most painful mammogram I ever got (I am 50 y.o.), second as result Washington Radiology mentioned photos were not too clear, also have a symmetry on 1 side to return to do more exams (I was starting to be suspicious). Third, I returned and a second monogram was done and I asked the technician to explain why, I needed this and she replied "your past history shows a change so, we need to check more".....I was like PAST HISTORY? i never gave you past history...then net technician went into another lie... All this to say that I ended doing ultrasound somewhere else as it was NO more trust. I read all others patient reviews here and I am thinking WHY I didn't read the reviews first. I will not use them. It took 2 weeks to get the results of my mammogram when it takes only a max of 2 days somewhere else. I scheduled my appointment with my doctor one week after the mammogram thinking it will take few days to produce the report. DR. ANJALI MALIK MISSED TWO HUGE CYSTS....THAT I POINTED OUT TO HER NUMEROUS TIMES! Avoid her at all costs. Or all the head doctors, for that matter. ****Full story***** I found numerous cysts in my breasts. Many of them were very small, but extremely painful. Around 3 were larger, around 1cm (2 of the large 1cm cysts were clustered together on my upper breast). First visit: Dr. Malik and I make small talk. Polite, but she seems disinterested and quite arrogant. I complimented her on being a radiologist, as "I heard you have to have some of the best grades in school in order to specialize in it". Later, when she explained I might have a solid mass, she used the scientific term. We talked about a few of the other cysts, and then I asked about the "solid mass" again. She asked: "You mean the [scientific term]?". I am not a doctor. I just heard I have a solid mass in my breast. We have been talking about all sorts of cysts and other symptoms. I don't know the scientific names for things, just like you as a doctor, probably don't know all the technical parts of a car, all the ingredients in a restaurant refrigerator, or how to use the data software I use at work. Please, remember before you're a doctor, you're a human, and have some common sense and empathy when communicating with people. I also pointed out the two 1cm large cysts clustered together at the top of my breasts (in a very easy-to-find location). I asked her to please take a look at them. She says "They're all very small and normal". She tells me the solid mass is most likely not malicious, but I can have a biopsy if I want to be certain of it. The way she said it was very "matter-of-fact, it's not a big deal". It was not comforting. I left the appointment extremely appalled and hurt. Before second visit: I learned that you can aspirate cysts (liquid ones) if they hurt. I had a bunch of those, and decided to go in and get them drained out. I called the office and asked them NOT to let me see Dr. Malik again. Second visit: I'm waiting in my patient room and guess who walks in? The person who I specifically requested I didn't want to be my doctor: Dr. Malik. She may or may not have heard me complain about her, as her arrogant and disinterested air was still about her, but I'm not sure, as she has always been like that, to me at least (this is a good time to point out: I am a POC and I am 200% certain Dr. Malik would not have been that rude to me if I were white). Anyways, at the second appointment, I ask her to aspirate some cysts because they are painful. For lack of a better word, she keeps b****ing "They're all so small and they're probably just going to fill up again". 1.) Size doesn't matter (am I right, ;) ) -- if the cysts hurt, they mf hurt. 2.) Yes, they are likely to fill up again (and she said they might even fill up bigger) -- but you don't know that's a fact. They mf hurt, so I'll take that chance. (Note: it's been a year and they haven't come back :) ) 3.) This is just me being confused: I'm not sure how doctors get paid, but don't you get paid more the more "surgeries/procedures" you do (my bill was $150 per cyst, thank god I had good insurance)? Judging by her behavior (b****ing non-stop), I guess she isn't. She aspirated like 6 or so and said: "You know insurance charges you for each cyst". That made me worried so I asked her to stop aspirating. After second visit: I later learned from insurance that they would cover each cyst, so I decided to go back for more (shoulda checked beforehand, that was me being stupid). Before going in a third time, I called to complain about what happened. The manager, Lattessa, was really nice to me AT FIRST. I asked to speak to a lead doctor and she said she would try to make that happen, and then SHE TOLD ME TO CALL HER BACK BECAUSE SHE WOULD HAVE MORE UPDATES. They had the lead doctor at the DC office, Dr. Chow (I think?) call me. I didn't explain the full story to her because I thought she might already know, but she told me they'd talk to Dr. Malik. Dr. Chow was very nice. Third visit: Dr. Hannah Kim and her blonde, young assistant were MUCH kinder and more professional than Dr. Malik. HOWEVER, TURNS OUT DR. MALIK MISSED THOSE TWO HUGE 1CM CYSTS I LITERALLY USED MY INDEX FINGER TO POINT OUT FOR HER. When I asked Dr. Kim to aspirate those cysts, she said: "Hmm....I don't see those on your first report". I think even she and her assistant were kind of like "wtf, how do you miss these two 1cm cysts that are side by side when the patient is literally pointing at the area"? I used Washington Radiology Associates for my first mammogram because I was referred by my primary care physician. The appointment booking process was to be expected. I received an appointment within a couple of weeks. The facility itself was also fine, but nothing to write home about. I will say the technician who performed my scan was very nice. She told me to expect my results within 7-10 business days. I confirmed this amount of turn around time with the front desk. Over 10 business days later, I received electronic notice from my primary care office that my mammogram results had been received, but not reviewed. This was just before labor day weekend, so I called Washington Radiology Associates in the hopes that a qualified provider could give me the results over the phone. I do not think it is a fair ask for any patient to wait an additional holiday weekend to hear if things are fine or concerning when their office has the capability of delivering results. I understand only a qualified provider can read the results of a report by phone, so I requested one. When someone answered the phone who could relay the results of my report, I was in disbelief with the disrespect and sass received. The provider was extremely insensitive and rude! I explained I was just holding their office accountable to the 7-10 business days THEY quoted to receive my results. I noted it was beyond the 7-10 business days since my appointment. I was then told my results had been forwarded to my primary care provider the day of my call.... but that delivery date was still later than what Washington Radiology had promised. The provider begrudgingly told me my results were "fine" after I practically pleaded for answers. It is not hard, and does not take much time to say "your results are unremarkable." I expect more professionalism and sensitivity in matters of health. I will not be returning to this office, or recommending it to anyone. read more

I have been coming to Washington Radiology for over 20 years. I needed a dexa scan and scheduled it in February 2024 for July 2024. They canceled that appointment the day before scheduled. They re-scheduled for August and cancelled again today 1 day prior to appointment. My upcoming knee replacement requires this test and I may have to postpone due to this issue. I had shoulder surgery back in late-July 2024. The healing process has not gone as expected. My surgeon referred me to a specific WRA Doctor to get an ultrasound done to see what the issue(s) are with my shoulder. I called WRA at 3:30pm on Thursday, 5 September to get an appointment with this specific Doctor. It urns out, this Doctor at WRA has their own scheduler so WRA staff tried to get a hold of the scheduler to no avail. They sent the scheduler an email requesting an appointment for me that day. It is now Tuesday, 10 September and I have not heard a peep from this particular scheduler. My shoulder is in significant discomfort and I really would like to get scheduled to get the solution to my discomfort identified. I have called WRA and once again, they had to send a request to the specific scheduler via email and once again, no response at all. I am talking to my Surgeon later today as this wait time just to get an appointment is unacceptable. If I were any other new patient, I would think very hard about using WRA, especially if you are forwarded to a separate scheduler for the Doctor you need to perform tests. Here's an update....while writing this review, I finally received a phone call from the "scheduler" for the specific Doctor I am going to see from WRA. Her name is "Dominique". Staff is so unprofessional and rude on the phone. They act like they are doing you a FAVOR by making an appointment. I had 3 separate phone calls and every single time the staff member on the other side was curt, indifferent and unfriendly. Note to WR, you may be making appointments for people who have cancer. Please have some empathy and just be nice. It isn't actually that hard. Next year I will be going back to Fairfax Radiology where I was treated like a human being. read more

Until this year I would have given a positive review. I have been to the Potomac site many times. In March 2024 I was in terrible pain and had an order for an MRI of the lumbar spine. I called and the person who answered the centralized appointment center told me to leave my name and number and I'd get a call as soon as possible. I called another service and they got me in the next day with diagnosis in 24 hours: herniated disc, pinched nerve. Never got a call back from the company I'd used for years. In June 2024 I went to Washington Radiology for a routine mammogram and the results didn't come for 2 weeks. Who would want to wait that long for results? Not me.​ read more

My office experience at Wash Radiology was so bad that I had to take the time to write this review. The receptionist who checked me in was rude and short with her tone and I felt as though she was resistant to my kindness. When she spoke to me, she did not provide eye contact until she postured to be confrontational with me. Been a patient here for over 20 years. Doctors and techs are good, but their administrative business office is atrocious. No one calls you back especially when they make an error in your billing, get the runaround. This has happened for the past three years. this year, is a new record of 7 phone calls to get to the bottom of my matter and I am still not sure it's been taken care of and will need to call yet again. I had my first experience getting an X-ray with this location. It was a little confusing once you exited off the elevator on the 9th floor as to where to go. The staff handled the process well and assured me that they were in network with my insurance. Total time from start to finish was 50 mins. read more

This place is an absolute joke...can't get ahold of anybody to see if i have a balance... you'd think they'd want my money?! Tried every phone number I could and also submitted the electronic request form and nothing. Seems to be a common theme in these reviews. To rub salt in the wound their 'hold music' is a message that continuously loops the message "thanks for holding someone will be right with you" over and over and over. read more

I thought I was going to die during the mammogram. The pressure was so intense that I couldn't breath, even less so ask for help. The nurse was taking her time behind me. When she released the pressure from the machine, the pain was so intense that I collapsed, without looking at me, she walked right out of the office and slammed the door. My breast tissue teared and I have chronic inflammation since that visit. I might have to have surgery. I hope they won't take down my review like last time. read more

Receptionist informed me incorrectly that I could not make an mri appointment until Aetna preapproved and it would take 5-7 business days. I was told the only way I could get the test done was to self pay. I had an urgent need for the test so had to give them the money. Turns out I didn't need pre authorization and my insurance would have fully paid for test. But now they have been zero help getting my insurance company info they need to reimburse me. It's a total scam so they can make money off of sick desperate patients. read more

I was referred here for a sonogram. My first scheduled appointment didn't work out because my doctor's referral wasn't sent, but the front desk helped me straighten it out and rescheduled me for the following week. Remember your doctor's referral! For my rescheduled appointment, everything went smooth and I was in and out in an hour. Alina was really nice and helped me relax with a few jokes. She made my day.
