Wow, what can I say. I was here for the superbowl and I had an amazing time. I ordered the Jalen hurts burger and it was an mvp performance by the chef. I also had the cooper dejean fries which were delicious I PICKED through it so fast I could've ate 6 of them. Although the place was awfully quiet for most of the game, I enjoyed my time. read more

Oh how I used to love Pub Rock to watch the Chiefs games.. but this place went down the DRAIN! We called to see if there was reserved seating just incase we had to reserve a table so we can watch the game. The lady on the phone said they don't reserve tables unless it's a party of 8+ so we said " cool ".. when we arrived they gave us wrist bands (for whatever reason) and had a lady seating us lead us to a few High top tables but because of my mother's disability, she has to have a low table. The lady got irritated and snappy with my mother and finally gave us a low top table. We sit down and realize there's a little table with two chairs and it was reserved. I thought that was kind of strange because like I had mentioned before, they told us that we couldn't reserve a table unless it was 8+ people... So that was interesting..but anyways.. my mother had to move a few chairs and the table back because the other table was so close to ours there was no way we could even sit. A man behind us made a very rude comment to my mother about her disability and how she shouldn't be moving chairs and to " just sit down" .. that right there made us leave the bar because there was no way we're going to be disrespected like that. As we were leaving the blonde lady seating people asked what happend and my mother told her she then started to take the man's side and she started to yell at my disabled mother telling her to leave the bar. Nancy and the whole staff at Pub Rock need to seriously get it together because those are the types of people they let in there establishment. It's disgusting they would allow discrimination happen and not do anything about it. I wouldn't recommend going there at all .. ESPECIALLY if you're disabled. And just know they have favorites and the favorites get seats and you don't. read more

Came down here to support my boy Adam and his band, Western Settings! Couple of things........... - Huge lot, free parking. Strip mall type place. - Drinks? Not sure...my buddy gave me a bottle of water. Saw a lot of PBR tall cans floating around though. - Sound was pretty good. I was right up near the stage so the speakers were pretty loud. Probably would have sounded better near the back of the bar. Still...not bad. Decent sized floor to mingle near the stage. - Western Settings- Dope as FUCK! Based out of San Diego, but they come to Phoenix/Scottsdale every now and then. If you have a chance to see them, do it. Had a great time seeing my buddy perform. I could totally see myself coming back here to catch some live music and/or to just chill. Not far off the 202 near Tempe Marketplace on Hayden. Good times! read more

This is a local bar in my neighborhood and I love it here! They have live music and comedy nights. John is one of the night bartenders and he is AMAZING, extremely attentive and personable. For football fans this is the spot to be for chiefs games. Great environment to cheer on your favorite team but make sure you get there early for a bar seat, it gets packed quickly, but there are tvs everywhere so any spot will be a prime area to watch the game. They also bring food trucks for NFL game days! Overall one of my favorite bars. If you're looking for a neighborhood dive bar with a friendly staff and fun vibe, this is the place!! read more

Every time I'm in Scottsdale this bar is always the one I go to, the employees and owner are more than welcoming with a friendly conversation and smile ear to ear. We are new to the Valley and found Pub Rock on line. We wanted to be in a pro-Chiefs environment for Sunday's AFC championship game so we chose Pub Rock -- a VERY BIG MISTAKE! This is NOT a friendly environment like the places we go in the Kansas City metro area and I'd definitely NOT friendly for senior citizens. The staff is unfriendly and almost mean-spirited. Another great venue is Arizona. The staff- no issues . The liquor prices are fair . You can sit and watch a show at hi-tops in the back . There is an open space for watching bands , moshing, etc . The stage is a good size - and the bands have a fair amount of room. The lighting was having issues last time I went but I like chaotic lighting. It was fixed quickly. Patrons were all cool. Sound was spot on . Bathrooms were clean . No drama , no BS - just great. Update - have seen several shows since first review . Still good . Hoping for a few stoner/doom shows sometime soon. read more

I've never had a more terrible first impression with a bar. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE NOT A LOCAL. We showed up as a group of 8 of Kansas City locals to an EMPTY bar and tried to pick a table. Not once, but twice, were rudely told we can't sit there because they were for "regulars that have been coming for 20 years". We left immediately and found another place because that is NOT how Kansas City people act. Would not recommend, avoid at all costs. read more

Worst experience with security ever. If you don't have your ID do NOT try to show them another type of identification. It doesn't matter how many forms of legal Identification you have. This place will NOT accent anything but your physical state ID. I had forgotten my wallet in my friend's car as we had car pooled here for an event. As I approached security and tried to show them other forms of legal ID, she responded by yelling and insulting my attire for being too formal. Stating that I don't belong here. She also involved a homeless man in the argument which is beyond professional. As I called her out on her unprofessional conduct she proceeded by accusing me of sexism which I found even more unprofessional. Without even giving me a second chance she told me I could not even come back with my ID. When I asked for her manager she stated she was the manager and told me to leave. Traveled all the way from Los Ángeles to Scottsdale to see one of our favorite rappers. It was a nice place, at first. Lost my wristband and as I was trying to head to the bar security immediately assumed I had given it away and kicked me out. I paid to be there for an event and was pushed out by 2 security guards. I'm 5 ft and 100 pounds there's really no need for 2 security guards. Even after trying to explain my situation and trying to get ahold of my boyfriend who had no phone, they did not want to hear it and one of them even told me to shut up. The bar staff was friendly but the security was hostile. I saw them kick out another girl after me too. read more

Location: Convenient, lots of parking. Bar staff: So sweet and pleasant, had no problem getting drinks all night long. Security for the show: Rude and unprofessional. Before I had both feet on the ground in the parking lot they screamed at us "Door opens at 6:30". We were with the band and we were getting heckled before we even got inside. Once inside we were harassed for our ID's after half of us had already purchased drinks from the amazing bar staff. The aggressive security WILL harass your fans here. So, so loud. You've gotta put some effort into your yelling if you want others to hear you. It's a very small venue with the niche of a west-valley-dive-bar type of clientele--old guys listening to young guys attempt to play hard rock. Okay, the bands were okay I guess. I just don't understand how such a small crowd of people can stand there so calmly while these performers are shredding as hard as they can. There's a bar inside with all the essentials, but drinkers were definitely in the minority. This place was not very fun. But at least it was competent. Security was cool, and I could just play billiards if I got too bored with the show. Nothing about this place inspires me to return, but as a decent supporter of local arts that treated me well, I can't give it anything lower than a three. read more

Really cool small venue to enjoy live music! We went to see Black Pistol Fire, and was surprised with how open and clean the place was. Drinks are on the cheap, which is awesome, and the acoustics in the place were the perfect place to rock out. It did take a little bit of time to get our drinks as there were only 2 bartenders, but the place wasn't that packed, and we were listening to good tunes, so it didn't matter that much. I would definitely come back to Pub Rock Live to see another band play!! read more

This is a basically a dive bar. No frills. They host lesser known bands. Since it's not a huge place the shows feel pretty intimate. Either you can be right by the stage or sit on hi-tops further back, but the sound is good no matter where you stand or sit. read more

My best friend Donjay and I love to see shows. We at least see one every month. Usually at Crescent Ballroom because it's an amazeballs venue. But then I scoped tickets for El Ten Eleven at Pub Rock were up on the board at Stinkweeds. I have been feening to see them live. If you don't know El Ten Eleven go listen. Or you may have heard their music in the documentary Helvetica if you didn't already know them... I was kind of wary of Pub Rock from things I had heard of the hood and things I had heard of the venue itself. But upon arrival it wasn't all that bad! Torpedo IPA is pretty good. Getting a drink was quick and easy. Really open venue. Decent sound. Big stage. Weird how they had the have the all ages show set up. Stage taped off and drinkers got a green wrist band. The kidz got cornered off near the stage while the money makers got set back near the door where the sound is worse. Doesn't make sense. We couldn't take our drinks near the stage so am I going to be buying drinks. I don't think so... Whack. I'll be damned if I'm going to lose my standing spot right up by the stage when El Ten Eleven goes on. Opening band kind of sucked donkey nutz. Ah and I didn't really want to be near the stage while the crap for talent openers were playing crappily along... Hello? The 80s called; they want their synth back. And theeeeen... No more and then. But for real. Took forever between the first opening band the the second... At least the second act was entertaining. A solo guy with a drum pad, lap top, bass drum and a broney mask. Slow magic. Still his set was a lot longer than I expected. Too long really. And then another long ass break between the second band and El Ten Eleven! Grrrr I was without beer, grumpy, getting tired and freaking ready to go.... Then Kristian played the first note of the first song and I was so glad I didn't let my mood get the best of me. So much energy on that stage! So many amazing sound coming from those two dudes!!! Gah! Over all just an okay venue. If they work on a few things like all ages shows and scheduling sets better it could be a very good venue. Keep getting amazing acts in there and it could be a great venue. read more

Nope. I don't think so... I don't think I'll be back unless there's an absolutely MUST SEE show. Came here (for the first time) last night 06/09 for Devour the Day. Location/Layout/Ambiance: -strip mall sports bar that also hosts live music, pretty much nothing nearby in terms of food -all ages shows... :( at least it's not a dry venue. Under aged patrons have to enter from the back of the building, cannot pass through the "bar area." Area in front of stage designated as the all-ages portion, which is BS as mentioned in other reviews. The 21+ crowd is the one who Pub Rock is making money off of! We buy the drinks! We buy the merch! and yet we are the ones who are cloistered away from the stage. -cramped and hot, especially in the area in front of the stage, most of the fans were not on -smoking out front... in the parking lot... no patio or outdoor seating the be had -bathrooms were "OK" and relatively clean Staff: -didn't really hit it off too well with the staff, much too grumpy and serious and unamused with life. The "bouncer" was a bit rude to one of my friends for no reason (but was nice to me), the bartender seemed like she'd rather be anywhere but there, and the first sound guy basically got kicked off his duties and replaced.The one bright spot was the guy who did the sales/tickets, he was bright and friendly and welcoming. -they started closing just before midnight, while there were a ton of people still there drinking. Why shoo customers out the door if you're making money on them? I could see if it was 2AM, but it wasn't even midnight! Drinks: -$4 domestic drafts/bottles... which means a PBR is $4 and a Bud Light is $4. I drink PBR because it's supposed to be CHEAPER! -minimum $10 tab for credit cards (~3 drinks). Summary: I went to all ages show for $15 where I was miserably hot and bathing in teen funk smell, and banned from being within 25ft of the stage because I wanted to drink my beer. LAME. At least Devour the Day kicked a$$. read more
