I was a little hesitant at first because Watch Repair Shop, HI is located in an apartment building at 2092 Kuhio Ave, with no storefront. You have to call Sergio (808-382-9871) and he'll meet you in the lobby--but don't let that deter you. Sergio is truly a gem! I brought him a sentimental Tag Heuer watch that belonged to my boyfriend's dad. It hadn't been working for a while, and other shops (including Macy's) told me it would need a full overhaul costing $700-$800. Sergio took a look and found that the issue was simply battery acid that had leaked inside. He cleaned it up, replaced the battery, and had it working perfectly--all for just $20. The first time I visited, I found street parking to drop it off. For pickup, I just pulled into the building's loading zone--super easy. I was trying to repurchase this watch, it had fogging on the glass, the band and bezel was scratched and beat up. Sergio resurfaced, polished it, changed the glass, cleaned it, improved for an extremely fair price. It's better than brand new. He went with a glass that now sits just a hair lower than the bezel which offers additional protection. Oh and fixed the chronograph that wasn't working properly. His work is so clean!!! I have 2 watches that were given to me not expensive but pretty. I figured that all they needed were batteries. So where to go- either Macy's watch department or to the Watch Repair shop. The Watch Repair shop was close and I was quoted a fair price. I called to schedule a time to meet with Sergio. Sergio gave really good directions to get to the apartment building where he does his work. I was advised to give him my watches- and he would go upstairs to install the battery and return. "Clients aren't allowed to come inside of the building." A little concerning- except for all of the other positive reviews. Still, instead of giving him both non working watches I cautiously only gave him one. He returned about 15 minutes later to let me know that the issue wasn't the battery- instead it had something to do with the gears. I was advised that it was better to just buy a new watch instead of pay for expensive repairs. No charge for the consult-appreciate that. Fair, friendly, and honest. *special note- 15-20 minutes is not a long time to wait but there is no place to sit in front of the building. My advice-if you would like to sit, there are places to sit outside that are located catty corner to the apartment building near the Ritz Carlton. * read more

I recently got a new Citizen watch on line with a metal band that was too big. I did watch some Youtube videos about re-sizing a band but I'm not so sure about doing it myself. Looked up on Yelp and found Sergio so I gave him a call. He answered right away and we made an appointment for when I would stop by. Over the phone he quoted me a price and said it would take about 10-15 minutes. When I got there, I parked on Kalaimoku Street like he instructed, gave him a call and he showed up in about less than 5 minutes. I gave him the watch, he left and returned in about 10 minutes. Now my watch fits great and it doesn't feel like a bangle bracelet. He also let me know that he would adjust it for free if I didn't feel comfortable with it later.
