The views from the Pleasant View Inn are gorgeous. When we visited the end of April, the Inn was getting ready for the 2026 summer season. BUT although the new tiled bathroom was very well done in our room, the shower pan was too shallow causing the bathroom floor to flood. The bathroom towels were scratchy, smelly when wet, and not absorbent. The toilet was kindergarten classroom sized. The glass shower door was difficult to open and close. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows smelled of sweaty dirty hair. In closing, the staff was very helpful and friendly, we probably will not stay at the Pleasant View Inn again. read more

Beautifully located, beautiful pool and ocean views, but so disappointed in the room and the front desk. For the money we spent I expected so much more. This inn needs to do better. Very dirty. The room was very dirty. Mold infested, filthy carpets. People smoking on their balcony which is supposed to be prohibited . They had 4 or 5 prime chairs overlooking the ocean for the entire inn. The beach front was dirty, seaweed and trash and cigarette butts. They should clean it up every night. Again, for the money we paid. Don't complain to the front desk because they couldn't care less. The view really is pleasant. It's gorgeous, actually. But everything else about my experience here was far from pleasant. Rough gravel parking lot(s), one of which is across the street. A nightmare to drag your luggage across. Doors to the building remain wide open all day and night. No elevators, stairs required to get around even if you're on the first floor. Paper thin walls so you can hear EVERYTHING, especially if you're near the stairs. My room had no phone, no peephole, no deadbolt, the door didn't close automatically and there was no weather strip at the bottom so the hallway light shines into the room, stained, ripped carpets, unfinished remodeling, cheap uncomfortable pillows, faulty TV remote that didn't work, clogged sink drain, etc. The "beach towels" are teeny tiny and they don't offer beach chair rentals despite seeing a group of them stashed away by the side entrance. The foot and body shower outside by the beach don't work. These are a lot of small things that add up when you're paying this much per night and it makes it hard to justify staying there despite the gorgeous view and direct beach access. In my opinion, you truly do not get what you pay for. read more

I stayed two nights just down the street at Hotel Mara which was super clean and had a better view of the water even with the street in front. Deeply disappointed to arrive for an October stay only to find out that their restaurant is closed for a private party. I understand the business decision to host a private event but not telling people when they book is totally unacceptable. You choose a hotel for ALL of the accommodations they offer. To now have to leave to go get lunch and dinner really stinks. Been here numerous times but we are taking them off the Fall list of places to stay. The inn is at a great location. It's so nice to be literally on the water. The place is clean. The thing is that the rooms are so dated. I was also turned off by the mix match of toiletries. I feel kinda silly complaining about that but it felt like it was a grab bag of leftovers. I was also annoyed that they wouldn't let us have a late checkout. It's the off season...it's not like it's super busy. We would probably come back but not for their high summer prices. It would have to be under $200 a night for us. read more

They had a bar game going on... no warning. We were there for a nice dinner with friends & could not hear ourselves think! Food was average. The noise level was probably loud before the bar game but--they should warn diners because it was such a headache &, quite frankly, ruined the night. Chad was such a delight. So helpful and courteous. Great guy!! The location was perfect. Amenities and restaurant/bar staff were so personable. Unfortunately, the room 156 had issues. Toilet wouldn't flush, the sink had a leak and made my daughter's clothes wet. The heat and air was broken. The beds were uncomfortable. I was with my elderly mom who had to walk a long distance to a bathroom. The front desk staff were nice enough,but were unconcerned for the inconvenience. No breakfast ,lamps were rusty and cleaners were cleaning so early in the morning ,woke us up ,knocked on the door ,are you kidding for almost 600.00 a night it was dirty and not worth it the door would close it was off the hinge that made such a loud noise to for the door to close. Two word review of The Hatch at the Pleasant View Inn: RUN AWAY! We walked through the lobby and sat at the bar at the restaurant they now call The Hatch. Walked past plenty of staff and did not get a single smile or greeting, not even eye contact. First thing you notice at the bar is the stench of spilled beer. Waited and waited for a bartender to acknowledge our existence, but got nothing for what seemed like an eternity. Wanted to leave but my husband is a nice guy and wanted to give them a chance. Finally a young bartender comes over. Her opening remark was "You all set?" What?? I said well, no, any chance we can maybe, oh, you know, order something? We ordered two drinks, first sips were completely disappointing, closed out, and took the drinks outside. Why even order food after the treatment we got at the bar? Well, Mother Nature saved the day because the view was beautiful. Stayed here for one night in October 2022. I read the reviews before I stayed, seems like people either love or hate this place. Here's my 2 cent review based on my experience. Wife and I stayed in a first floor ocean view room, and the ocean view was absolutely spectacular. The Atlantic Ocean is literally 50 feet from your sliding glass door. Room was clean, and the basics were provided. Room rate was $374 for the night. Sure, the TV was kinda small, there was no coffee maker in the room, and there weren't any extra pillows or blankets, but this inn is ocean front and in the heart of the Misquamicut beach area. Well this was my first time staying at the Pleasant View Inn. We were excited to stay on the beach for a few days without having to venture off for food and lodging. Upon check-in we were informed that their kitchen would be closed for two days (Sept 7th and 8th) for floor renovations. This place has the potential of being really nice. It has beautiful lighting and seating out back, oceanside. I was not impressed with the state of the room or the hallways leading to and from our room. I will let some of the photos I took speak for themselves. I had a higher expectation for what I paid to stay here than what I actually experienced. One star for the location right on the water, but oh god, everything else. I used to stay here with my family back in the early 2000's when I was a kid, so it's hard to write this review - this place is sentimental to me. As an adult, though, I can't deny that it's horribly trashy and gross. The rooms are insanely small, outdated, and the bathroom had dirty smears of what were presumably bodily fluids on the wall and the towels. I had a room by the pool, and there were floodlights on the pool deck that shone into my room as I slept, rendering it essentially as light as if it were the middle of the day. As for the clientele: lots of drunk 20-something's who have no reservations about their behavior. A few of them were wasted and harassing my dad who is older - super classy! They're lucky I wasn't with him at the time. Positives: proximity to the beach, heated pool (although it's constantly filled with children), and nice comforters. That's it. read more

This place is so disgusting. 600 dollars a night for a dirty room that reeks like mold. (Apparently they changed the air filter in the 1998 a/c when we complained but the room is starting to smell worse and worse as time goes on) they originally offered to refund us because they had no other rooms besides a street view which I'm sure would also have an odor. I'm in this room awake from the smell as I write this review wishing I accepted the refund and just cut our vacation short.. considering leaving now as my throat is swollen from breathing in whatever nastiness this is. It feels like I smoked a pack of Mustangs. I do not recommend this filthy hotel. It's an absolute rip off and a complete dump.. Never ever ever again! read more

A great time! The location is fantastic, just wish they had more than one stairway to beach access which is completely opposite the bar and restaurant. The beach is clean, the rooms are small and tight, but with the best ocean views you could ask for on the upper levels. Could use a little updating but they do a great job with what they have. Of particular note, the house keeping staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. Also feel they should keep all exterior doors locked at all times rather than propped open, a safety measure the world demands is necessary now! The lobby is old but cute with a fun word wall backdrop for photos. The on site restaurant was quite good, and the fish was fresh and prepared well! An overall pleasant stay, as their name states and will return for a beach trip for sure! read more

No normal dresser but strange cubbies that made the room feel like a cheap college dorm. And I could not get the hot water to work. Yes, they say check-in is at 4, and yes, we arrived at 2:30. But not ALL rooms arent ready until suddenly 4 o'clock, so we asked. We were told the room wasn't ready. I asked when it might be. The answer? "I dunno. 3? 4? Whenever." Seriously? Didn't offer to text me when it was. But that's for the best because when we finally did check in the woman next to me was asking, "What happened to the text I was supposed to get when my room was ready?" Answer? "I thought someone else working here was going to take care of that." While we were waiting in the lobby for the room to be ready here's how another conversation went: "Hi, do you have any water?" "Not back here. You can go to the gift shop." "You mean to buy water?" "Yes." "Do you have any water for waiting guests, y'know, for free?" "Not back here." "Anywhere besides behind the reception desk?" "Well, you could go up those steps, take a cup, and get some water from the cooler up there." Seriously?? The wait was made more pleasant by an open lobby piano on which children constantly were banging and who no one had any interest in chaperoning. Now the room. Rust on the bathroom ceiling. Ceiling fixture was missing the glass dome. Bathroom sink drain was broken and had to be pried open to let the sink empty. Carpet smelled of foot odor and had stains. Loud fan in the hallway. Plus, no coffee machine and the hotel restaurant does't serve breakfast. And I've never been in a beach hotel where the room doesn't even have a window. Finally, they don't accommodate late check out. That simple extra hour could've recovered a modicum of good will, but that's not a priority, apparently. This does NOT add up to $500/night. Not even a little bit. Let's see what the hotel's review cruisers, if any, have to say. Something super useful, I'm sure. "Not up to our standards" and such. Hogwash. This past weekend was my first time staying a The Pleasant View and let me tell you it certainly was pleasant. Upon check in I was given two wooden tokens good for the drink of the day in the bar. So that was a great start right there. Haha. The staff at the front desk was friendly, professional and helpful. When I walked into my room the light was on and the AC was set to 60 degrees. For some people that might be a problem but for me that was an A+ move because I like a room that's on the chilly side to sleep in. The bed was comfortable, There was plenty of storage in the room so if you were staying longer and wanted to unpack you could. The room was clean, decor was beach house chic and I had a balcony that over looked the water and back patio area. The hotel itself has a full service restaurant, bar, small arcade, heated pool, private beach and a really nice private patio area that overlooks the water. I stayed on a fairly busy weekend and I really didn't hear too much noise or commotion from other rooms which was nice. All in all a great stay and looking forward to staying there again. read more

Been coming here for over 20 years...Used to be an awesome place to go for a beach vacation...Now.. Place is not up to the standards I became used to...Not very clean, very outdated, restaurant/bar area had been upgraded but they only serve lunch now...Used to have a great breakfast menu..no more. Prices have climbed to a point where you question going there with such limited options...I will say the Oceanview and access is still awesome. They have ample parking in the 2 lots they own. Filthy and grossly overpriced for what it is. Very nice position and a nice swimming pool, but nothing else positive to say about this place. Rooms felt like they were in a cheap, discount chain hotel, except those hotels usually have room phones to access the front desk and maybe even an alarm clock. And the rooms were nearly $500 including all the extras, such as "resort fees of $35 per person per day, which I guess covered the use of the swimming pool, since the website says that wifi and parking are free. The shower railing was filthy and left a major stain on a towel we used to try and clean it. There was a disgusting black rim on the underside of the toilet seat, which could be seen when lying in the bathtub. Looked like it's been a very long time since the toilet was properly cleaned. read more

The favorable reviews and website pictures are very misleading! Pros: The location and room view. Cons: Finding the room was like walking through a corn maze of filthy worn out carpet. We passed cots, trash and an iron and board in the hallway. We entered the pool locker room scented king size bedroom. Optimistic at first, due to the "clean" smell in the room versus the marijuana smelling hallways and grounds. The entire property was visibly filthy. The doors were tied open with toilet paper at 9:40 PM. On Thursday morning we woke to trash and drink cans strewn around the lawn chair area. We couldn't take off our shoes because the rug was dirty. There were someone else's fingerprints all over the fridge. As other reviewers mentioned, their is no phone in the room to reach the main desk. In order to speak with front desk you need to walk there! The complementary beach chairs that they actually make you sign a waiver to use are camp chairs. The bathroom may have had a fresh coat of paint a few years ago, and an updated sink, but that does not make up for the brown foul smelling liquid leaking from the ceiling of the shower, the used lotion bottle or the peeling popcorn ceilings. To the management team: please put some money into this property. For $500 a night, at a minimum I expect a clean comfortable accommodation. The location is so special and your hotel could and should be so much more! read more

This review serves as a warning to anyone considering booking the Pleasant View Hotel. Prior to booking, I asked the front desk clerk about the cancellation policy and was assured that I would be fully refunded as long as they were given 14 day notice. I booked the room for two nights in August knowing that I still had ample time to cancel. Immediately following booking the room, my credit card was charged for the full amount and this did not sit well with me. Two days later, I called the hotel and attempted to cancel the reservation and was told that I was given the non-cancellation rate and that I would be charged the full amount. The manager explained that they had a new employee, who did not have an understanding of their policies, and because of this she would refund all but 13% of the original fee Nowhere on their website do they state this policy so I paid $100.00 for a room I was not going to use and they had 22 more days to rent this room. If not illegal, a very shady business practice. read more

Ok it's not the Four Seasons. The location is great, the little balconies if you get an ocean front room are good for two people to sit comfortably and have coffee or a cocktail. Our stay was in October and there was nobody at the adjacent decks so great. If the place were full it may have felt different. Little bar is Great and our bartender was a great party starter and everyone at the bar had a ball. Would suggest eating elsewhere. Bottom line it's a heavily used beach hotel and overall I feel the management does a good job keeping the units clean and serviceable. Bed was comfortable and we slept with the screen door and the AC off. The ocean is very close and may even be too loud for some, we personally loved it. Will definitely return . read more
