Our two queen with direct ocean view.

A wonderful experience. Patrick at the front desk was kind and professional. Complimentary coffee, sodas and snacks were available all day. Their restaurant was beyond outstanding!! The food was delicious and by far the best meal that we had during our six week road trip. The desserts were yummy and made with quality ingredients. Our waitress Arianna provided us with outstanding service. After dinner we met Bjorn, another outstanding employee who answered our questions about the area. When we checked out the next morning, Lexie, the front desk employee reminded us of the complimentary coffee and pastries.

She made a lunch reservation for five in the Bistro. We walked through the stately lobby and bar area to get to the Bistro. We we seated at a round window table with a great view of the private beach for hotel guests. Of course, there was a pristine white tablecloth and napkins plus fresh Calla Lillies on the table. Flatware was top notch. Glasses were thin walled French. Condiments including tiny bottle of hot sauce were in sealed containers on each table. Salt was in a porcelain bowl. Service was impeccable from start to finish. (Pics of menu included.) Orders: Warm Lobster Roll with Truffle Frites. ($48.) for me. It was very good with chunks of sweet lobster, and the fries were outstanding. I also enjoyed the Carrot Ginger Soup. It was amazing with a pleasing sweet flavor from the carrots and a tangy note from the freshly grated ginger. Texture was perfect. My daughter and I seriously want the RECIPE. Two Burgers ($34. each) very good One steak -- tender ($48.) One half Turkey Club and cup of soup (very good) Side added of Mashed Potatoes -- unusual flavor of mustard and vinegar in a hot mashed? Our room and rate was for a room with a pool view. Instead we received a room with zero windows, no apology and instead blamed it on the third-party listing, that they should have called us to tell us the room we booked was unavailable. We drove 8 hours to get here. Then the key cards to our room didn't work so they had to give us a physical key, and of course there is only one key, so my husband and I have to coordinate our comings and goings. Meanwhile, my in-laws who had a non-view room originally ended up getting an ocean-view instead. When I complained the front desk told me I needed to complain to the third-party and they always recommend booking directly bc then they would work with us, therefore abdicating any responsibility for their mistake. UPDATE: the manager got us a different room with a window and balcony. She was extremely nice, understanding and professional. We are so pleased that this issue was resolved to our satisfaction.

Our experience this year was underwhelming, and I doubt we will return in the future. We arrived about 15 min prior to our reservation to a half empty restaurant, and we were told we could get a drink at the bar. We ordered two glasses of a wine that the bar tender said she needed to look for. After about 15 minutes, she returned with a room temperature bottle of white wine that she poured for us. Once seated we asked for a different type of wine, and they were out of the next two bottles we asked for. During dinner, they were out of two of the entrees we were excited about. I ended up getting the flounder and some oysters, which were delightful, but it seemed odd for the restaurant to be out of so many things. For such an expensive hotel/restaurant, our experience was lacking. Our server for the night, Precious, was the best part of our experience. She was so kind and incredibly attentive!! We're grateful she was a bright part of the evening!

All the hotels were ok but none would let us check in early. We wanted showers so bad after that drive. My husband found this hotel online only a few miles from Connecticut. we called and talked to Al, who was so welcoming told us to come over and that he would check us in early! Got there the hotel is right on the water. We were greeted in the parking lot and given a parking spot . Check-in was easy rooms were clean. The neighborhood is so fun full of cute little shops. So happy that he found this hotel. When we checked out and were about three hours away from the hotel, we realized we left my daughter's favorite blanket in the room. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but this was a huge disaster! I called the office and Al said that he would go look for it, he called me back, found the blanket and actually took time out of his life to mail it to our house. So thankful for him and the staff at the hotel. They went above and beyond anything they had to do. I would highly recommend this cute hotel on the beach and the staff.

At over $615 per night, we expected a much better experience\. When we arrived, the toilet in our room was broken\. It took approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to repair, during which time we couldn't use the bathroom or shower before going out to dinner\. The bathtub also wasn't draining properly until we finally figured out a way to get it to drain ourselves\. In addition, the refrigerator wasn't cold on the first day\. We had actually called ahead to ask them to make sure it was turned on because we experienced the same issue during a previous stay\. The next day, we returned to the room to put our baby down for a nap and found contractors installing new carpet directly outside our door\. The constant hammering and nailing made it impossible for our baby to sleep\. We asked if the work could pause for just an hour, but we were told no\. The only solution offered was to move us to a much smaller room where the only bathroom was located inside the children's sleeping area, which wasn't a practical option for our family\. The staff offered us a bottle of wine as compensation, we declined\. We then asked if there was another way to make the situation right, such as adjusting our room rate, but the manager said no\. We've always enjoyed staying at The Whaler's Inn, which makes this experience particularly frustrating\. Maintenance issues can happen, but multiple room problems, disruptive construction during the day without accommodation, and the lack of a meaningful resolution left us feeling that the value did not match the price we paid\. We hope management will take this feedback seriously and improve the guest experience\.we will not be coming back . I do not recommend - the staff were SO RUDE

It's never easy taking over a B&B, and the family that now runs this place seems very nice, and hospitable. That said, at $450 or more per night, execution is requisite for a high Yelp rating. We stayed here four 4-days and 3-nights in the Rosa room. Each room here is somewhat unique (I think there are only 8 rooms here), therefor experiences may be somewhat idiosyncratic to the specific room. Positives: + Hospitable welcome, alerted us by phone when the rooms was ready + Welcome gift (nice touch) + Large room + Gas fireplace which worked well + Comfortable king bed + Pleasant grounds + Separate entrance for this room + Convenient location + Excellent homemade breakfast with seating times to prevent crowding Negatives: - Road noise (on a very busy road, traffic including trucks 100 feet away) - Musty smelling, we couldn't keep windows open at night due to road noise - No sugar, etc. in room for coffee - Bathroom outlets not working - Bathroom door difficult to close - Blinds were broken on one side, and just left standing in the corner of the room, these should have been removed if they could not be repaired - Large piece of plastic left on the window sill, looked dirty there, not well cleaned - Uncomfortable sleep sofa couch for sitting and small TV - Microwave not working (actually it was after we figured out nobody plugged it in) - Outside light over door is on automatic timers, too bright for the light filtering shade, so the room is lit up at night (we prefer a dark room for sleeping) - Rosa backs up to the kitchen, and we could hear a lot of banging and noise at 10pm as they were doing prep work for the next morning The negatives balance out the positives for a 3-star stay. Bottom line, we'd be unlikely to return, especially to that room.
