BEWARE OF 4% PROCESSING FEE! I went in to get some replacement watch bands. Everything started out fine and the owner showed me a selection that were similar to the ones I needed replaced. He replaced them, as well as the batteries. When it came time to pay, he told me the amount and gave me a hand written invoice showing that same amount. I gave him my credit card, he gave me another receipt from the transaction, and I left. When I got in the car, I noticed that the amount on the receipt was about $4 more than what he told me, so I went back in to find out what happened. He proceeded to flip around a sign that said there is now a 4% processing fee due to inflation and said "Oops I forgot to turn the sign around." I generally like to support small businesses, but this guy is a liar, not to mention his store reeks of cigarette smoke. I will never return to this store again. read more

I stopped in on October 5, 2022 to get a battery replaced on my Luminox Watch . Robert the owner got right on it and I was admiring all the nice Citizen watches in his display cases all of which seemed to be marked down. He told me how great the Eco Drive watches are and that they never need a battery. I left with a new battery in my Luminox and a beautiful Eco Drive sport watch that really looks great ! I had a very odd experience while visiting this store about a week ago. I went in to have some links added to a watch of mine. First of all I was greeted in a very rude manor. Strike one. Then When I told the worker why I was in, he responded again very rudely. Strike two. Then I gave him one last opportunity to treat me with respect, asking if "they were busy today" just trying to make conversation. The same rude worker responded with, "yeah! We're busy everyday!" strike three. I am this stores perfect customer, a young watch enthusiast who lives close. But, because of his attitude I will never return! By the way I was in the store for about ten min. It was empty and no one came in the entire time, so treating me with respect could have been very easy. They did a nice job with the watch. But cmon man! Not that hard to stay silent instead of making a customer feel unwanted! read more

I took my watch in for a repair when the axis pin came separated from the clasp closure. The repairman's daughter (I presume) took my watch and fixed it immediately charging me $5. I left content that it was wearable again. I was hoping that would take care of it but their fix didn't stay fixed and the pin popped out again the day after. I'm heading back there to see what they'll do about it. I stopped by before another appointment thinking it would be a quick fix but I spent a long time waiting and then ended up leaving my watch after all to get to my other meeting. I came back in later and it was all ready to go with no additional charge, appropriately. The store is a mom (daughter) and pop shoppe so I applaud what they're doing but it's also way too kitschy to be taken seriously. Ceramic art for sale on the walls and posters dating back to the mid 90's. They'd probably benefit from a good once over cleaning too, given the cobwebs around the showroom. That said, they mentioned they were moving to 13 mile so maybe that facility will look more modern and hopefully cleaner. For what they offer it's an OK enough place to stop for minor repairs. read more

Love this store and their service. My husband wore a watch every day until the day he passed away. He wore less expensive watches and just replaced them when something went wrong with the band. When he passed away he left 4 broken watches. I took them to Watchbands Plus to see if they could be fixed. The owner was not sure about one of the watches and said the rest could be fixed with new bands and batteries. He suggested leather bands to replace the gold and silver ones because he said young people seemed to like them better. After fixing one, replacing watch bands on three, and putting new batteries in all the watches (for a very fair price), I was able to give one to each of our grandsons as a remembrance. read more

First time visit to this shop. Interesting place. Did not get to check anything out. One shopkeeper was busy assisting a paying customer, which makes sense. The other was sitting in plain n view, did not even raise his head to speak. I wandered around the shop a few times to let him know I was seriously shopping. I've never had to find a watch repair shop since I've moved to the area and now in need, Yelp'd to find Watchbands Plus with great reviews. Walked in just now only to ask if my band was in fact broken/repairable and the owner(s) took it right in the back and found it wasn't broken; I just clearly had no idea how the buckle needed to be attached! They "fixed" it for me on the spot and sent me on my way, no charge. Super nice and such great service (without laughing at me;)) I would definitely recommend them and will be back for all my watch needs. Thanks! read more

I have nothing but good things to say and I've bought almost a dozen straps from this place. First off, I'm a watch snob. On top of that, I like my bands of extremely high quality leather and made in the USA. As this place stocks Hadley Roma, they popped up on my radar. Over time I've bought many straps here and put them on everything from entry level Shinolas to Tags to a half a dozen vintage to modern Omegas. This place has never done me anything but good. The selection and the quality of the straps is obvious. US Hadley Roma straps are likely the highest quality straps you can find around and this place has a ton of them. I don't need to go into that any further. The service is what really makes Watchbands Plus stand out. I think the owners name is Rob. He's a great guy. He's always super friendly, really helpful, and goes just a little further to make his business exceptional. My big example being that I brought a 1970's Omega in that I whacked on a door latch and took a chunk out of the crystal. I asked him how much it would cost to replace the crystal. He recognized me, told me it wasn't deep enough to necessitate replacing the crystal, took it in the back and buffed it out for free. He could easily have charged me a good amount for that and I'd have paid it too. They're a little place in the corner of a parking lot next to a stupidly busy intersection in Farmington Hills. They've done right by me though. The quality is there. The selection is there, and the service is certainly there. I can't recommend enough. read more

I needed a new battery for my chronograph. The second hand was jumping two seconds at a a time. So I stopped off here to see if they would put a battery in. The young woman behind the counter took my watch and after she had it apart told me that since it had a "bigger battery", it would cost a lot more. She told me the cost would be $ 14.99. Since I have had this battery replaced a few times for the standard charge, I declined. She told me it would be "safer" if she left the old battery out. I asked her to just leave it in. When she gave me back my watch, nothing worked. I told her that. She said that it had been running slow, so maybe it was dead now. But it had not been running slow at all. In fact everything worked including the stopwatch. The only problem I had was the second hand running two seconds at a time which is a warning to replace the battery. I was angry. So I took back my now broken watch and took it elsewhere. I decided to just go to Sears. I know that they are typically more expensive, but I needed my watch, The watch repair tech at Sears told me that the battery had been inserted upside down. That explained the deadness. He also told me that the battery was not a bigger battery and that it was the same battery that is used in lots of watches including women's watches. He charged me $ 9.99. It was more than I normally spend, but it was an honest service. I will NOT ever go back to Watchbands Plus. They tried to take advantage when they saw that I brought in a flashy chronograph. Then they compounded the problem by lying and then broke my watch. I won't do business with a place like this. Avoid.. read more

Needed a new battery for a Seiko chronograph. The battery was completely dead but the watch I've had for 22 years worked perfectly. The new (one month employed) blond girl needed help changing the battery and asked Mike for assistance. Long story short, neither of them knew how to work a stop watch on a chronograph and after somehow altering the proper settings of where the second and minute hand "started/stopped" on the chronograph, proceeded to tell me that I should just learn to use the stopwatch function starting at the 25 second mark and that it wasn't their fault (even though it worked perfectly before they changed the battery) and that I should be thankful that they're store offers a two year warranty on the battery! After being given an ultimatum of paying more to fix the problem they created, I begrudgingly paid the battery price. I eventually found a solution later online to fix the problem they created. The employees were completely unhelpful and the senior employee Mike was completely incompetent on watch repair and rude. This is the first review I've ever written on a company but I had such a horrible experience I felt the need to warn other potential customers! Good luck!!!!! read more

I brought in my watch to get fixed as it fogs up when I wear it. I read on the internet that it was probably due to one of the seals being broken. The guy who greeted me told me that it probably wasn't worth fixing. He asked me how much I paid for it and asked me if it came with a bottle of cologne. I thought that was kind of rude and condescending. He opened it up, looked further into it, and said that he could fix it but it would cost $50-$70 to fix and probably wasn't worth it for me. I appreciated the honesty but didn't care for his condescending attitude about the quality of my watch. I honestly might have paid the $50-$70 to get it fixed if he didn't make me feel like I'd be throwing my money away. I elected not to get my watch fixed and left. He was polite so I don't want to ding him with a low rating, but hope that he sees this and realizes that his approach could use some fine tuning. read more
