The foot massage was not bad. Melody is lovely and did a good job. But when I went to pay and tip, the lady working the front desk said "Oh... is everything okay..?" With this very shocked and offended expression. After I had already tipped very generously. She told me I needed to stick to their "Recommended Tipping Chart"... I got a 30 mins massage lol. I had bad massage experience for many reasons - My masseuse left the room too many times. She was inconsistent with her massage and didn't treat both sides equally, as if she didn't have her own routine to follow. She also spent way too much time wiping my body down vigorously with a towel, instead of spending her time focusing on my body. I told the lady at the front desk I didn't feel like the massage was as great as it should have been. She asked me to leave my number for the manager to give me a call back. Hours later, the manager calls me to explain to me the situation, even though I didn't need her to explain what happened because I was the one getting the massage. She told me that if I didn't like the masseuse I should have said so in the beginning.. She also said since I did not speak up and completed my full hour, it was my fault that I had a bad massage. We bought two foot massage from Groupon. We booked at 5 but we accidentally went to the San Mateo location, so the staff helped us to make another reservations at 7. We were there at 7 and were asked to wait for a bit because they didn't have enough staff. We ended up waiting for about 25 mins. My boyfriend had to go outside to the lobby and ask when we'd start. Shortly after, the owner and the staff came and gave us shoulder massage while we were waiting for our scheduled foot massage. After about 5 mins of shoulder massage, our actual masseuses came. Unfortunately, things did not start well. Her massage was so light, it was almost like she was petting my foot. I asked her to press harder and instead of massaging harder with her hands, she pressed harder with her fingers, which sometimes hurt since her fingernails were long. My boyfriend said his masseuse was not better. She would massage the same three spots on his feet over and over again. We both agreed it was a very bad massage experience. Customer service and the owner are VERY nice. The front desk lady was very sweet. But the masseuse that we had were the worst! I strongly suggest they refrain their staff and learn to do a proper foot massage. Go to their other location. It's much better. read more

It was a bad experience for me - Not only the message was not enjoyable, it was painful - The actual length of the 60 min massage session was 50 mins They did not do any massage on my back and neck area, just rubbing lotion on my feet the whole 50min. The massage ended 10 mins earlier, so the total time of the massage was 50 mins instead of 60 mins. But, I did not mind much as it was not an enjoyable experience anyway. For the rest of the day, I was very upset and sad and was thinking about the experience and regretting my decision and blaming myself. My face was left with red marks even the day after as the extraction process was too harsh. But what is worse was that the lady who did the facial DEMANDED that we each give her 10$ / hr tips. After finding a deal for a massage and facial, I decided to call Water lounge spa and make an appointment. I specifically asked for a female masseuse and looked forward to a relaxing morning. When I walked in Monday morning, the front desk girl was extremely RUDE! I was told to go change into this other room and had a male masseuse tell me to take my top off and it was really inappropriate especially after requesting a female. It just made me feel really invaded and I didn't appreciate that. After rejecting the top less massage, I go into the facial room and got nothing close to a facial! I specifically wanted a deep pore cleaning and she just massaged my face for over an hour, kept op putting creams on my skin that was burning me and it was miserable. She even charged me an extra 30$ for god knows what at the end. As I was leaving the front desk girl tells me," are u gonna tip the masseuse"? And after being straight up and saying "NO" because of the crazy wasteful experience, she literally repeated herself again and then had the nerve to roll her eyes at me. I'm really giving this place a zero, however yelp doesn't allow that. This place came highly recommended from a friend of mine. My normal massage place was booked so I decided to give this place a try. We booked a 90min couples massage with deep tissue & prenatal add on. My husband like his massage however he feels it left his sciatica a little more irritated then normal. Now my deep tissue prenatal on the other hand was the worse massage I've ever had. I should have known when I first walked in the room & my table was set up as a regular massage which she asked me to lay facing down, I politely had to tell her no I'm 6mo pregnant & here for a prenatal. Once settle on the table with no additional pillows my therapist comes in with couch pillows not even a body pillow. I had to ask for another pillow for my arm to hug. Several times I had to ask her for more pressure. She only massage the right side of my body while I laid down on my left side. She attempted to massage my left side while I was still laying on it. She then had me lay on my back for the remainder of my massage with no additional pillows or support for my body. That's was the most uncomfortable position & so bad for the baby. She massage my right leg 3 different times during my massage. She massage my left leg once & it was over the sheet which I've never had done during a massage & was not the best feeling. My right hand is now tingling as though she gave me a pinched nerve. Over all the experience was everything but relaxing. As a 6mo pregnant women prenatal massage are such a treat & i would hate for any expecting mama out there to receive the same service I did today. The front desk receptionist was nice & offered the name of another therapist for my next massage. But I would have liked a refund instead. To be safe I think Pregnant mamas should not waste your time or money with this place. read more

While my massage was decent, my mom thought her lady used no strength even after asking her to adjust. It was just soft rubbing on her feet the entire time without much technique. Recognizing my mom isnt the easiest one to please (and cant have high expectations at asian spas) I'm ready to brush it off. But this masseuse ended up demanding us to give $10 tips each claiming that that's the minimum.
