Breakfast burritos with coffee and pepperoni rolls. Can't go wrong!
    Owen P.

Fantastic food and great prices!! If you're anywhere near Friendsville, say traveling on your way to Deep Creek, you MUST stop here. The owner, Chris, is very friendly, a great cook and a wealth of local knowledge. We found the cafe on Yelp and called to find out what time they served breakfast until. The owner responded, "I think I've got some eggs, come on over." While I know that's not the standard answer you would expect, I appreciated the authenticity. The breakfast burrito was PHENOMENAL and we ended up staying 3 or 4 hours chit-chatting with Chris and other locals. We had planned for a quick breakfast, but ended up getting soup, lunch and dessert as well. Everything here will be delicious - the pepperoni rolls are a crowd favorite. If you're looking for a place to unwind, the coffee is fresh and there are giant windows that look out at the river.

Chris, the owner, is a one man show serving very tasty food such as chili, beef stroganoff, breakfasts, and pizza. The beef was top notch and my buddy rated it one of the better stroganoff dishes he's had. The building is nostalgic and is next to a river. In summer they must be busy feeding trout fisherman.

Amazing burritos!! Super friendly owner and the pup was adorable. We will come here every visit to deep creek!!

Searched for a home cooked meal. Disappointed because they were not open even though hours posted and no answer on the phone

I asked a couple questions about the menu and was immediately directed to the BLT by a woman in the kitchen. Wow I wasn't disappointed. It was sooooo good. The bread was toasted perfectly (so it didn't kill the roof of my mouth), the tomato's and lettuce were fresh, the bacon crispy, and that basil mayo. A life changing BLT if there is such a thing. A couple side notes I appreciate. Bittersweet's marketing team deserves. Ton of credit - they have some awesome swag available for purchase. Also, this is a Christian oriented cafe with bible verses, messaging, and music. Love it! And finally, check out the story about Bittersweet's roots, its commitment to addiction recovery/support, and the owner's son's story/passing. Nice landscaping provides a near perfect setting to enjoy a cup of coffee. I ended up getting a simple red eye. It was delicious. I understand they brew Iron Star coffee out of West Mifflin. The same Iron Star that owns Coffee Tree shops. If this coffee is any indication, I think I need to visit Coffee Tree again. It's been a while. Anyway, I had a really good cup of coffee and a peanut butter and jelly cookie. No complaints on the cookie, but I wish they had some breakfast sweets like scones or cinnamon rolls. Next time I'll try some real food. Just be aware that things are a little pricey here.

That led us straight to Heidi's Bakery & Cafe, and honestly? Total home run. There's a sign hanging on the wall that says: "Homemade with love and butter." That pretty much tells you everything you need to know. You can taste the care and quality in everything they make. We ordered the BLTs on homemade sourdough, and they were absolute perfection --thick, delicious bacon, crisp beautiful lettuce, sweet tomatoes, and sourdough that deserved its own standing ovation. A truly excellent BLT is a thing of beauty, and Heidi's version was gorgeous. The french fries had some kind of secret seasoning situation happening that made them completely addictive. Every bite somehow got better. And then the desserts. Cupcakes. Cookies. Pastries. Basically a direct shipment from heaven itself. The kind of bakery case that makes you start negotiating with your own self-control and losing immediately. Out of towners, be warned - the other location of Rising Creek (on GPS) is no longer an actual restaurant, but simply makes and ships their bread. We made that mistake, without checking their website, and drove to the other location first. All of that aside, we still arrived at their second location with plenty of time to eat before heading to the football game. I ordered a simple omelette with sautéed peppers, onions and cheese while my dad and my husband decided to try their salt bread with gravy and eggs (think biscuits and gravy but instead of biscuits, it was their infamous salt bread). The omelette was tasty, but nothing special - the type of omelette I could easily make it home. My dad and my husband felt the same about their "biscuits" and gravy and eggs. The service was friendly and the girl was very kind and attentive. The space is simple and non-descriptive. I have had every single thing on their menu over the years and I have never had anything here that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. The same in regards to their vast beer selection. They always have something to quench your thirst, trust me! I have brought numerous people to this place since its opening and each person will still remind me of that great time we had here. I've came here during all seasons and all months and there isn't a bad time to enjoy some great music, some great food, some great coffee, some great ice cream, some great beers, some great hospitality, some great people and some great atmosphere. I stopped in recently with my gf while visiting a friend in the area and we enjoyed their amazing world peace wrap and a delicious locally sourced IPA and sour, and just like each time before, top notch! TBH, she still talks about that wrap which I have had myself personally at least 20-30 times over the years, as it's my go to. After making…read morethe drive between Northern Virginia and Ohio for more than 20 years, we couldn't believe we had never discovered Out of the Fire Café before. Anyone who regularly travels the Pennsylvania Turnpike knows how hard it is to find a truly memorable place to eat. This one is absolutely worth the short detour. The atmosphere is charming, the view is beautiful, and the food exceeded every expectation. We had to try their famous mushroom soup, and even though I'm not normally a mushroom fan, it was hands-down one of the best cups of soup I've ever had. The smoked salmon salad was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the Filet Mignon Sandwich special, and every bite was packed with incredible flavor. Our server was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. She made us feel right at home and added to what was already a wonderful dining experience. We finished with the Bananas Foster. While it wasn't the tableside flaming presentation you'd find at a fine-dining restaurant, the flavor was outstanding and the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be making Out of the Fire Café a tradition on our future trips. If you're traveling the Pennsylvania Turnpike, do yourself a favor and make the stop--you won't regret it!
