We had solid food and great service on a Monday in Spring a little bit before they closed. Only downside was no poached eggs available so late in the day so my girlfriend opted for the chicken Caesar salad rather than the Eggs Benny...seems reasonable later in the day. My Dad and I were looking for a light breakfast. However, their B. E.L.T sandwich was very large. If you're coming with an appetite, this is the place! My 3 egg omelette had big slices of peppers and onions for my Western omelet. They had freshly made banana bread. So good! Their orange juice with pulp was very satisfying. Took leftovers back to our hotel. One lady worked ten tables with ease. The cafe was well lit and a large seating area. Plenty of parking. It's near the trail in the back of Laconia. read more

The service is great, most of the food is pretty meh but the cheesy hash browns are to die for. The biggest issue is the stores cleanliness. The last time I went here the food was great but there were flies all over the window and dead flies on the windowsill. read more

This was a bustling place -- very popular! I had the spinach, tomato, and feta omelette. It was delicious--big chunks of feta, the spinach tasted seasoned, and the home fries were homemade. My husband inhaled his country breakfast plate. We got takeout because we had our dog with us. I was pleasantly surprised that they used compostable takeout boxes--thank you! Found water street cafe on Yelp n Stopped for brunch. Nice clean airy restaurant decorated w airplane memorabilia. We had the butterscotch hot chocolate, Benny lobster , burrito special and 2 eggs w avocado n scalloped potatoes. Butterscotch hot chocolate was something different than the regular hot chocolate n a lil sweeter but tasty. Benny lobster was sooo goood. Generous amount of lobster n Just the right portion. We stayed at Steele Hill Resort and came out for breakfast. Really nice, homey cafe. A lot of locals which is generally a good sign imo. We had the... - florentine omelette: huge three egg omelette with a massive layer of feta in the middle. Very good, but the feta cheese was less flavorful than some I've had before. Not sure why, but not a huge deal - classic reuben: I really enjoyed this. Good proportions and the sandwich is grilled like a grilled cheese sandwich. Water street cafe, I went to this place 6 times , to give them a fair chance, the " cook " didn't get anything right on any of the 6 visits, French toast, burnt and flipped over so you wouldn't See it, eggs are always over cooked brown, home fries are always from a day or 2 before leftover and dried up . Toast is either just barely toasted or well done. Don't see how you stay in business serving well below standard food, and the waitress , who's been there for some time doesn't treat everyone consistently, some very nice, us, well, not so nice. Water street is a staple to the area, just that I haven't gotten a good experience there and would not recommend it to anyone that's looking for a good meal or friendly staff. read more

I regularly travel around the USA for business. This is my favorite breakfast place hands down. Their omelette are really solid and I've never gotten an overcooked eggs. Their cheesy smashed browns and grilled mufflers are amazing. The staff there are all super friendly and it has that classic US diner king of vibe. Overall, it is just exceptional in terms of food taste/portion/quality and a real gem worth checking out if in the area. Confident 5 stars, never had a bad experience. read more

Unfortunately overall there were a few flaws in my meal hence the 3 stars but there were also some highlights so I would still recommend giving it a try if you're in the area and looking for brunch (because there aren't a lot of options)! Pros: -excellent bloody mary complete with a skewer of cheese, an olive, and other fun stuff to snack on while you wait for the rest of your meal. -the cheesy smash browns are amazing! Definitely get these! Cons: -I tried two different benedicts, the hollandaise sauce was broken/split (see photos) -the steak from the prime benedict was not a high quality prime rib and had a lot of fat/gristle -the sweet potato has was undercooked, like crunchy in a raw potato way instead of a hash brown way Beyond that they have a lot of menu options and maybe I tried the wrong ones! Really superb breakfast and lunch food. Huge serving proportions. Very efficient and wonderful light setting, modern, with airplane models and canoe in a high ceiling above the counter. It's almost more a restaurant than a dinner or cafe. All the newspapers are there to read as well. Staff has improved friendliness of late, recent waitress was super nice. Maybe the food here is amazing, we weren't able to find out. We attempted to dine here on a Sunday morning. Not too busy. Small wait. We were quoted 5-10 min with two parties ahead of us and seated in 7. Great. The menu looked good with lots of options. That's what they get two stars for. That's where the good review ends. We already knew what we wanted once seated. We had looked at a menu while waiting. The server whisked in and asked about drinks and almost ran to get them while we were trying to say we were ready. She brings back the drinks and again tried to leave but this time my husband was fast enough to say we were ready. We ordered. That's it. 40 minutes later we still hadn't seen our server again and had not received any food. No exaggeration, 40 flippin' minutes. . No updates on the wait. No check in visits. Plenty of tables around us had left (and not been reseated so again they were not THAT busy) except for one across from us who at the time we left had been sitting there 15 minutes waiting to leave but no one would bring them a check. After 40 minutes of being ignored and not fed we left. They lose 3 stars for acting like we weren't there and not servicing us for over 40 minutes. I can't help but wonder if they EVER made our order or how long it took before our ghost server realized we had given up on her?? read more

Another 5-star review for Water Street Cafe. Their staff is STUPENDOUS. They really do a great job maintaining their professionalism even during stressful, busy times. It's apparent that more people are discovering how great this place is, because now it's always busy & every single table is full. I always order the Bakon Bloody Mary & the Lobster Benedict. The kitchen staff was pumping out orders but still served the meal just the same. You'd think they would rush & that it would hinder the quality of the meal, but that did not happen. Our waitress was completely stressed out, especially when (2) parties of (8) people walked in at the same time when the whole restaurant was FULL. Which, btw, I would not suggest coming with a party larger than (6) because of the booths & tables. They tend to seat parties of (2) or (4) the best. Upon the amounting number of customers coming in, another staff member was alerting the kitchen as a heads up that they were about to get slammed. I thought that was a good idea so that as a team, they were prepared. I am thankful that it was just me & my fiancé who happened to walk in at just the right time for an open table for (2). It was in the middle of the bar area, kind of cramped up near other people, so the hostess spun the table in the other direction to give a little more room. I thought that was very thoughtful! We had a wonderful breakfast in this little spot this week. You can always tell a place is good when as you leave a fire department vehicle and a police cruiser stop in to get breakfast to go, those guys usually know where the good eats are in a town. I had cranberry orange french toast and upgraded my maple syrup to real with a side of biscuits & gravy. My husband had the waffle stacker that came with fruit. My daughters had chocolate chip pancakes and the egg special. Everything came out fast and I enjoyed a cranberry mimosa while awaiting the food. We would definitely return. read more
