What a strange service call :( We received a note in the mail that it was time to service our water system. Since they helped us get the system up and running after purchasing the home, we decided to let them come change the filters. We set an appointment (the old between 9:00 am and 11:00 am) and John arrived early. That's always a bonus. I was in the computer room, and I heard 'that's not good' I walked into the kitchen and the technician was filling out forms and the faucet was leaking. I looked at him and asked what was going on. He looked up and said in an aggressive tone 'what do you mean' I pointed at the faucet and said, well the faucet is leaking, and I would like to know what is going on. And the more aggressive tone the guy said 'I changed the filters in the garage, I changed the filters under the sink, I'm filling out the paperwork and I'll look at that when I'm done.' I was abit shocked at the aggressive response and said: Hey, you are a professional, you should be able to explain a simple problem when a customer sees something wrong.' So he said in a slow, stiff tone: 'I Changed The Filters, The faucet Started Leaking. I'll Check It when I'm Done Sir. That was just a strange response. So, he messed around and fiddle around and then said they were two types of systems, and the way mine was hooked up to sometimes it leaks while it's filling as he had flushed the tank. He said either that or I knock something loose because I know it was working when I got here. He offered just to replace the faucet, said since it was probably his fault, that there was no charge. I let him replace the faucet. After he was done, I asked if he was having a hard day. He said no, it's another beautiful day in paradise. I told him I was just wondering why his response was so aggressive, he said 'I apologize for that' and then headed me a $366 service bill... So I called the office, first talk to the office manager. She said I should talk to Chris who is one of the owners. Chris was the person who came out last time and I gave such a stellar review because he was amazing. He said he would talk to John and review the bill and get back to me the next day. Chris called me the next morning and basically didn't have much to add. He said the $366 to change four filters ($99 just to show up and then 30 minutes labor to change the filters) was within the correct range. Also he put it out that I was not charged labor or parts for John to change out the Fossett. But there was nothing wrong with the Fossett when John arrived. One nice thing Chris did offer: he offered to reduce the price if I felt it was not fair. But I told him, if it was the correct price, there was no need to adjust the $366. I just wanted to make sure. As for the technician being aggressive, Chris had nothing to add. He said for five years that was never a complaint. I let chris know that I did have video surveillance and he could review it. But he didn't see the need just apologized and thanked me for being a good customer. Just chalk it up to a fluke? No idea why, but we can all have a bad day. It won't prevent me from using them regularly and I look forward to continuing a good relationship with them. read more

Water Unlimited installed an under sink reverse osmosis system in 2014. It has never let me down. I've tested the system that they installed (AQUAKINETIC A200) and the water coming from this RO tests BETTER than bottled water. They also carry the replacement filters, and they charge less than anywhere else as near as I can find. Awesome value!!! read more

Water Unlimited installed a whole house filtration system 2017, I have been very happy with their service, love John, he is the best. My system filters, bacteria, pharmaceuticals, chlorine, PSF's. John has been servicing the filters, for me, I have a yearly change out, he always shows on time and is very polite and personable. He does an efficient job changing the filters for the system, couldn't be happier. I have not had any problems with the system and am happy with the products. To have clean water to drink and to shower in is a real bonus. The filters for my system are a little more than just a water softener, but worth the value and I'm sure costs less than buying bottled water for a year. Keeps my little Chaweenie healty too! Best Service EVER!!! Chris, Alicia and Kevin are all fabulous. Knowledgable, honest, and great value. I interviewed almost 10 companies and they were the only company in the Reno area that cared more about their customer than the dollars they were bringing in. Only one that didn't try to upsell to things we didn't need. For example, all the other companies tested our water and said it was hard and we needed a softener. Kevin installed the water softener in November 2024. He was amazing and knew his stuff, friendly, knowledgable and hard working. Chris the owner responded to my text on a Sunday and proceeded to send out Kevin on Monday to check when I didn't have any water. The filter was leaking, but it turned out to be the water meter outside that was frozen and cut off our water (fault of the builder who forgot to put in insulation on top of the outside water meter...). Kevin helped us to defrost the meter, that was amazing. Can't thank them enough. read more

Our first Kinnetico softener came from Water Unlimited over 20 years ago. When it finally couldn't keep up, we had them replace with a new system. So we get the new system and then Davis fire happens and when our pump finally had power again, it pumped pounds of sand thru the entire water system clogging faucets, drains and our brand new Kinnetico. No worries. I think we were saved a couple times by John and maybe also Kevin, I believe. We finally got a new pumping system put in and now all is well. We love having the iron-free water again, so do the fixtures. So much easier to keep clean. And with Kennetico, no electric is necessary. It cycles by gallons, I think they said. We had pretty hard well water. I looked at various options for mitigating that issue, some of them plainly bogus. We chose Water Unlimited to install a Kinetico system. They showed up promptly, in 2016, and gave us soft water. Nice people, no hassles. 5/24/2022 I thought that perhaps the water was no longer soft enough. Their service guy Kevin showed up on time, reviewed the entire system, tested our water made a slight adjustment. Charged me $95. So after 6 years of service, I spent $95 on the sustem. John is my regular service technician. He is meticulous and always explains what he has done in layman's terms. If there is a problem with any of the equipment (and, because of regular service, problems are few and far between) John explains the whys and wherefores and takes a conservative, common sense approach to solve the problem. If the system needs extra care or if something has aged out and needs to be replaced, he has always let me know, up front, what the cost of the repair or replacement will be - no surprises or sticker shock. I installed a soft water and reverse osmosis system in my home and Water Unlimited did a fantastic job! I was very impressed with the quality results from this company! I would highly recommend hiring this company. I put in a new one 5 years ago and RHP Mechanical installed it and they installed it backwards with the in water going out and the out water going in!! I had them come out at least 5 times and not only couldn't fix it they charged me $125.00 bucks for each service call. DO NOT USE RHP MECHANICAL THEY ARE THE WORST!!!!! read more

Wells are holes in the ground that water comes up from, but unlike the old days, you don't do it by bucket. Shocking. I know. Apparently there are pumps, pump controllers, sediment and heavy metal filters, and all sorts of other accessories associated that now allows us to use underground water sources for dishwashers, showers, and sinks! Technology is amazing. When you've never had a well before, this is the kind of stuff you don't know about, and you certainly don't know that there are different companies that address issues with the water coming out of the ground and water coming into the house. Water Unlimited was super helpful in teaching me what exactly I was looking at with regard to our equipment, helping me diagnose issues with my well system by phone, and teaching me how to fix it on my own. Specifically, Sy was incredibly easy going, willing to work with me, and deal with all my stupid jokes and repetitive questions. He didn't even laugh after I told him I broke my filter wrench by trying to turn it the wrong way. OK. Maybe he did laugh a little, but I deserved it! All in all, this is the kind of locally owned business that makes me love Reno Sparks. They really know what they're doing, have had longstanding customers because of it, and earn new customers all the time by taking the time to work directly with them. Five stars all around! P.S. We purchased a new home about a year ago...and we decided to get a bid for a water softener system. The owner Chris is super friendly, down to earth and easy to talk to. He came out and surveyed our house and gave us our options. We ultimately decided to do the full system... From the time we decided and made the call, we had our install date for the following week. Our install guy was on time and finished the job sooner than expected. Everything was neat and clean. I guess I would say you don't know you need a water softener/filter system until you get one. We cannot believe how soft our skin feels. We cannot wait to see how the system is going to work for our swimming pool. We chose to have the hook up for the entire house, inside and out. Water Unlimited replaced my antique Culligan system with the Kinetico filtration tank. All 3 representatives I have dealt with have been helpful and knowledgeable. When my old system was installed, the old water drained directly to the dirt under my house. Scott installed the system and brought the drain to code, where everyone else I've asked said "yes, it's fine that it creates a lake under your house." Scott have saved himself some work and told me it was fine too but he didn't. He said it is absolutely not right and he fixed it so it drains into my septic system, at no additional charge. For the first time in 16 years, my water doesn't smell like iron. The service was above my expectations and I'm satisfied with the system and would recommend Water Unlimited to anyone. A little surprised to be the first reviewer here, but I guess for most people a water filter company is one of those "set it and forget it" kinda things. I was looking for water cooler service for my company and asked for estimates from a couple of outfits in town. Water Unlimited won not only because they had the best price, but because of the way they handled my account. They actually took the time to find out what my needs were...as opposed to just "taking the order." As a business owner myself, I really appreciate that. Of course that is not enough to rate a 5-star review. I've now been doing business with them for over a year. That the equipment works is sort of a given. What made it for me was service after the sale. They don't wait till they get a phone call from me saying "it's broken -- come fix it," instead they regularly have someone stop by. Not to ask... but to test, check and clean. On the second visit... even though I had not detected a problem or companied, they elected, on their OWN to replace the unit: it wasn't working "to their specifications." Add to that the appearance of the staff. Anyone who's read my reviews knows that I place a premium on customer service and the professionalism of a companies employees. When they come by I am 100% comfortable having them in the shop. Trustworthy, clean and professional. I know they do way more than the silly little water cooler thing. Should I ever need more...
