I have always loved coming to the Waterfront Grill until today. Don't know what happened but the service has been slow to say the least. We had heard that the beef tips and rice was wonderful, but when we got ours, it was cold and we decided to take it home to heat it. Went last night. Wanted to take my dad and father-in-law out to eat. Wasn't here Sunday so couldn't take them out then. Called for a reservation and asked for a table in the main dining room next to the window above the bayou. I was told they couldn't guarantee it but ok. We arrived and had a table where I requested. Dynamite!! The service was outstanding! I wish I could remember the waitress name but I think the initials were KB. Everything was great, food, service, you name it. If you are looking for great food and service, this is the place. I have always been a firm believer you get what you pay for. We will definitely go back again. We only get back to Monroe twice a year. We now live in Virginia. Those that live closer should make it a point to eat here as often as they can. Overall disappointment. The crawfish cheese dip was watered down to the point that the crawfish sank to the bottom. Our Poboy bread was soggy and the shrimp was flavorless. It's getting 2 stars because of the view. The food was a complete waste of money. We left most of it on our plates. read more

So, on our cross-country journey from Saratoga Springs, NY to San Diego in the middle of winter (what luck!), we thought it would be fun to eat local cusine on our stops. Thus, while in Louisiana, we thought, CAJUN! We asked the hotel cerk where to eat, and the Waterfront came highly reccommended. GREAT place to eat! The food was excellent. They were out of the oyster app, which the clerk insisted we order, so we had the shrimp rakhee appetizer. Oh my Gawd! It was an amazing, creamy, saucy concoction with mushrooms and garlic. It came with bread to sop up the highly caloric yet delicious sauce. It was heavenly. I had the baked cajun catfish with the stuffed potato that was to die for. Hubby had the Desiard catfish that was rich and delightful. We had a chance to meet the owner, who was so nice and personable, even to folks like us who were just passing through. I guess that's Southern hospitality. There was a deck off the back on the Bayou. If it was summer, I'd love to eat out there during the sunset. The owner also informed us that the restaurant runs a dinner cruise on the bayou during the spring through the summer. If I ever find myself in Sookie Stackhouse territory again, I'm going back to this local joint. read more

Although the food was not bad I thought that it was not worth it. I ordered the special catfish and it was way too busy. The sides did not compliment the dish and the waiter was surprised that neither myself or my dinner partner did not finish half of our food. The view is great and the service was nice. Great service, great food. What more could you possibly want in a restaurant? We had the catfish po boy, with a salad, and a sweet tea. All very good. Our waitress was on point, keeping me flowing in refills, without me even having to ask. That's all I really care about, when I eat out. This was my last blast, because I'm about to lose this extra weight and leave it in 2016, where it belongs. No more restaurants for a while. If you like po boys, you should definitely give Waterfront Grill a try. Their po boys are on par with some that I've eaten in New Orleans. Very slow service. Sports bar atmosphere. Waiter very slow to offer other selections when they were out of the wine i ordered. Barbecue shrimp was very good but the appetizer, salad and main course all arrived within 60 seconds of each other. Red beans had heat but no taste. Salad was bagged, dressings bottled. The Waterfront Grille is without a doubt one of the best restaurants in the city and has been for quite some time. As with any place, there are good days and bad days but overall, they possess a wonderful track record. I'm usually very "iffy" when it comes to seafood places but I can honestly say that the Catfish Desiard and Shrimp Rahkee are some of the best seafood dishes that you'll find in the entire state......PERIOD! read more

Bloody Mary's amazing. Food HORRIBLE...the baked oyster dish was burnt, watery and disgusting. The crab cakes were dry and no crab meat. Very disappointing meal. We are in town to move the kid back into school and this place had some really good reviews. Don't let them fool you. The service was terrible. Our waitress was extremely non-personable and came across as very unfriendly. She was more interested in sitting with a table a couple down from us. The salads consisted of some wilted lettuce, a grape tomato, a red onion ring, and 3 croutons. When the meals came to the table, 2 of the orders were wrong, one resulting in a recook. The baked sweet potato was extremely over cooked. We were there around 3:30-ish and they were not busy at all, yet our waitress dropped our check while I was still eating. I really appreciated how much food I got here, and how quickly! We had a larger group of about six people at lunch time, and they were able to seat us right away in a patio kind of room. The view of the bayou was great, especially since I'm from out of town. I had lived in the area for a year and a half and had always heard of this place but never actually eaten here. Well finally this summer I was visiting with my girlfriend and her parents suggested it. They do make a point that nothing is fried, which is a nice change from all the fried alternatives that do exist. Her father told me to get the pork chop (which was dry) and my girlfriend told me about the baked potato which was really good. I tried their specialty which was what somebody else had gotten, the "Catfish Desiard" and that literally was to die for. Wife and I dropped in here while traveling along I-20. Primary reason for stopping was the previous reviews. It was on a Wednesday night about 6:30. We were lucky to get the last seat by a window. Very nice view of the river and bayou. The waiter was nice but not really helpful or friendly. A smile and nice welcome would have been appreciated. As this appears to be a local restaraunt with repeat customers, he could have asked, "Have you been here before"? This would give him the oppurtunity to tell us about favorittes and specials. Another peeve was the dirty menu, mine had mashed potatoes clinging to the inside Despite that small service issue I would definitely recommend this place based on several things. Number one, the food. We had Shrimp Rakee for an appetizer. It was great! My wife had the Baked Catfish with bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, baked in Lemon Butter Sauce. The portion was large and very good, two sides and a large piece of bread were included. I had the grilled Cajun catfish with baked sweet potato. Both dinners included a side salad. The main courses were very good. If you are on a budget (aren't we all) I recommend getting the shrimp (with extra bread) appetizer and splitting a main meal. Total bill for appetizer, & two main courses (no drinks, water with lemon) and 20% tip was $68. Not cheap, but the experience was better than a chain restaurant. One other tip, if the window seats are taken ask to be seated outside, consider temperature and bugs. Has valet parking if needed or desired. The reason I gave a four star instead of five, the minor service issue, food price and dirty menu. read more

Waterfront Grill has to be agong the best in Monroe or West Monroe. The food is outstanding but the view makes eating an experience.
