Beechers cheddar and house made beer bread? Don't mind if I do. Delish! The hubs had the carnitas pie fold. Super yummy! Entrees come with either soup or salad, I could've gone for some fries, but not a deal breaker. The red wine vinaigrette was tasty, but the salad could've used a few more toppings (besides cherry tomatoes), maybe some croutons, onions, cheese...something. Overall though, the food was really good. They have live music on the 2nd Saturday of the month, which we were lucky enough to stumble upon. This place is dangerously good! A friend introduced me to it about a month ago and I keep finding myself trying to find a reason to go to Northgate just so I can eat here! I would be in big big trouble if I lived nearby. Honestly, though, it's worth the drive from Olympia. Seriously. It's that good. And the chill environment is an added bonus. First time I ate here I had the curry cauliflower soup. Scrumptious!! And a salad with arugula and quinoa on it, I can't remember the name. Similarly scrumptious and very unique! Today I had another salad I don't know the name of with spinach, garbanzo beans, olives, red onions and summer sausage! Yes! Summer sausage! If I wasn't late for an appointment I was going to try the tomato soup which the staff keep telling me is fantastic! Warning: they have specials and they are so enticing it's very difficult not to try one of each thing, just on the specials menu! Came by here for some beers and to try their infamous "award winning" grilled cheese this past week. I've read mix feedback about the grilled cheese and had to experience it myself. Quality of the grilled cheese was comparable to your typical homemade grilled cheese, nothing special. Please keep in mind that this grilled cheese was award winning in 2014 of which I expected it to be decent coming in which it wasn't. I'm not sure how it was award winning back then but a lot could've changed in the past 3-4 years leading to a poor grilled cheese. Nonetheless, the service was excellent and the bartender was friendly. Prices for both drinks and food were fair. I just wouldn't try the grilled cheese again. read more

Wife was outta town and I went to an early holiday gathering last Saturday. Left about 8pm and decided to stop here for a quick nightcap on my way home. Very glad I did. They had an excellent jazz trio playing that night and there was a very good crowd about - kinda unusual for a holiday Saturday night. Not only was the music great but the service was friendly and the bar had an eclectic variety of taps and any drink you could want. Didn't try the food but intend to do so next visit. So instead of addressing the apparent biases shown by his staff this is how the owner chose to respond. Your staff was discriminatory but YOU'RE offended? This is beyond disgusting and extremely disturbing. I'm a first responder and my sister is a nurse, we've been vaccinated since last year and showed our proof. The issue wasn't about vaccination, the issue is that your staff ONLY asked us to show proof to sit inside but did not ask ANYONE ELSE yet they allowed them to sit inside. Mind you this was a BUSY weekend night so there is no way they "knew" everyone. Let's say for arguments sake they knew every single patron, the optics are still disparaging when you only ask ONE set of people to prove they are vaccinated and those people happen to be the ONLY black people in the entire establishment except 1 employee. None of the white patrons were asked to show proof of vaccination. If you do not want to be labeled as a racist then do not do racist things. Maybe you all should consider having a workshop to discuss passive racism and unconscious bias. read more

Solid place; we came here with a party of 6 after not getting seating elsewhere. Post-holiday rush and whatnot. Server was super friendly and knowledgeable about the many beers on tap. There was a fantastic selection of saison ales (although I understand that we lucked out that day with more beers to choose from than usual). Food came out quickly, and everyone seemed happy. As other reviewers mentioned, we were a bit surprised by the "pizza fold" as well - somehow we read it as more like a calzone from the description, and it's really more of a panini made with pizza dough instead of toast. The person who ordered it liked it though, so no harm, no foul. Really appreciated the music being background level and not obnoxiously loud. Several of us ordered the Stallion Polenta (can't quite remember the exact name) but it came with red onion, sausage, and mushrooms. Kinda like grits but softer? It sounded really nice on a cold day. My main critical feedback here is that the mushrooms tasted like they were canned mushrooms. Obviously, I'm not in the kitchen and can't tell you whether this is actually true, but they tasted like canned sliced champignons. They were rubbery in texture, and did not taste good at all. For me, it really messed with the whole dish in a bad way as these slices were sprinkled throughout the polenta. I would have expected maybe dried or fried mushrooms? It didn't quite work for me. The other two folks with us didn't seem to mind, so I just tried my best to eat around the mushrooms. If an owner is reading these reviews: I usually love mushrooms, and I would love for you to tweak the ingredients, because otherwise this was great polenta. read more

If you're trivia, with horrible un-music blaring at distortion levels (turn it the f down!), well-trod but not well executed pub-ish standards messed with for absolutely no good reason, and some decent beer - you just found home. However, if you think a waiter delivering your food to another table, and then 5 minutes later picking it up and serving it to you is filthy and disgusting, you should consider reporting to the health inspector and skipping this joint. Two problems with this place. First, the brisket sandwich served to my wife had only a few chunks of brisket in it. The brisket itself was at least half gristle and fat. They appear to be skimping on amounts as well as quality of meat. Second, they refused entry because our 3 year-old was not vaccinated. An awkward space that feels like it was retrofit from leftover room during the building's construction, the acoustics are terrible for talking, the decor is cheap, and the food is mediocre. They ran out of the two specials, and we were just into the rush of dinner service. The specials didn't seem to require ingredients that were that special, so that was odd, too. We had a wonderful server, and food came in a timely and well-prepared manner, and they have an extensive tap. He did a great job explaining various beers that weren't what they seemed, so I wasn't surprised, and the one I picked with his help was marvelous. (I give him 4 or 5 stars, but he'll probably find a better restaurant to work at, so I don't want to give them too much credit for his performance.) But the menu is rather boring--Mac & cheese, grilled sandwiches, and pizza or pizza-dough based things--and the food that arrived was fine but really underwhelming given the price. We paid about $30 each for a party of four and would have had a more consistent meal at Denny's, probably. The item I ordered was supposed to be basically a sausage sandwich on a pizza-dough like bread. I believe there was perhaps half of one sausage in the $12 entree. One of my companions ordered a grilled cheese sandwich (which she'd had there before and loved), and it was almost entirely bread. I wasn't expecting much, being as it was basically a piece of pizza folded in half, but it was mighty tasty! Always worth the wait on a Friday night or any night! The hostess is honest about the wait time for a table and lets you know if the kitchen is supper busy. We often go see a move after having lunch or dinner so it's very helpful. The staff is great! They work their butts off and still have time to chat and make you feel special. They always have a good beer to suggest and keep your glass filled with a smile. You will often see the owners helping out everywhere. From behind the bar to busing tables. They truly care about their staff and the happiness of their customers. They will go above and beyond to make things right if you are unsatisfied. I love the sandwiches. The pizza is great! Four years later my friends and I gave this place another try since the original place we wanted to go to was booked out 2 hours for the night. I wish there was a single good thing about this place. Terrible customer service, slow, and the food is flavorless. Our waitress took time to get water to our table. In addition, the time she took in between to get our orders was ridiculously long. We let her know to give us couple of minutes for dinner. She never returned. 15 minutes go by and we had to call her over. We had to ask her why things are so delayed. She said the kitchen was backed up by 30-40 minutes. Why was this not communicated to us from the time we placed our orders? At the very end, we felt rushed to pay for our bill and leave. Staff presents themselves as careless. Not a happy experience. I wish our experience was different than the first since it has a fun community vibe to it. read more

My baby shower was hosted in the loft here and it was so perfect for about 30 guests. We couldn't have been more pleased with all the food, pitchers of punch, and at first it was too warm and I asked them to turn the heat down and they obliged my request quickly. There was a slideshow on the TV screen. Great candle votive decor and twinkle lighting. Lots of parking in garage. If I ever planned another event for 30 I'd do it here! Everything was going great (friendly servers, good environment). I came in with a group of 4 adults 1 toddler and 2 infants. Then my friend ordered a build your own pizza and when it came back the pizza had no cheese and all the toppings were cold like straight from the fridge. Instead of figuring out a solution one of our many servers decided to argue with her about why she couldn't add cheese and put it back in the oven and then proceeded to offer her cheese bread as a replacement! Not so sure how that is even nearly close to the equivalence of a pizza but okay. Lastly when our bills came they were completely wrong like she had blindly picked items to put on our tickets so I ended up having to write everyone's ticket for the server and when she came back with the new tickets she added a random charge of chicken to my ticket that I didn't have! Lastly when we looked at the check we noticed A 20% gratuity was already added because we were a party of 6 or more.. how shady can these people be having the nerve to include two infants as adults eating at a restaurant!! They're babies that still drink milk. And to top it all off the server gave me my change and never took off the extra charge of chicken until I went back to ask for the rest of my money! Let's just say this place has been around for 7 years and still doesn't have it together. Trivia on Tuesdays! This sports bar is a great low key place in Northgate. They have free parking in the garage and is about a block away from the transit center, so any easy bus commute. The food ia decent but the variety of beers on tap are wonderful since they focus a lot on local and american beers. There's ample seating outside for summer months and the establishment itself is very expansive with a large selection of beers. Their well liquors are not the typical bottom shelf spirits, which I was quite surprised! They have a great happy hour and full menu of dishes to select from while you enjoy the pub-like atmosphere. On their appetizer menu, they have a Brazilian dish called "Pao de Queijo" which is a big plus especially if you are a cheese lover. The pizzas and pasta are decent as well. Wandered in here for Saturday brunch and football after dropping off the pooch at the nearby groomer. What a great find! Bf got the country Bennie with the french toast upgrade, SUPER yummy. I got the pie fold (envision a large piece of NY style pizza folded over with the topping inside) and it was solid. But the 2 surprise stand out items were the cauliflower gratin and the Caeser dressing on my side salad. Luke was a gracious bartender who mixed a nice Blackberry Mule. The live acoustic musician, Joe Iudice, was a nice addition. We will be back, probably on a Tuesday for trivia night. read more

We went to a pub because somebody in the group loves drinking. I was not expecting a 5 star meal, but it most certainly was that. Pao de queijo: 5/5 you must get these cheese balls! Melty cheese with thin baked outer crust. No one at the table could figure out how they did it. There are no air gaps inside the balls. They are Perfectly salty, slightly garlicky. Honey to dip the cheese into is an amazing call on the chefs part. They had a finnriver lavender black currant cider which was out of this world. 5/5 I had a smokey the beef pie fold and it was great 4/5. Minus some points because the cheese used made the entire thing taste "heavy" at first. Hurray for thin crusts. Happy with the lemon poppy seed dressing on my salad. Note you get 2 pie folds at dinner. Other pictures showed one fold which would have been the perfect portion size for my tiny stomach. But I'm happy I had leftovers for breakfast the next morning. I had bites of the salmon spread and I can recommend that. 5/5 I also had bites of the mushroom mac and cheese. Based on other Yelpers, I want expecting much but I'm happy to report those reviews were not indicative of what I experienced. The sauce is on the more watery side, yes, but it didn't take anything away from the flavor. Incredible flavor. Been here many times. Pros: Nice beer list, really fun food. Try their pie folds. The Optimus Grind is fantastic! Great Caesar Salad. Cons: Extremely slow. We like the food and beer enough to put up with it, but it really is annoying. For example: We've the only ones in fora lunch and it still takes over 30 minutes for a salad. When it's crowded, it is OMG slow. We've made a sport of watching one of guys in the kitchen see how many times he can pick something up and put it back down again. Then, when he goes on a break, the other guy comes in and does more in ten minutes than the first guy did the entire 40 minutes prior. The management should take a much closer look at who actually does the work here and help them out. They have fun outside seating. It would be nice if they changed out their picnic tables which are usually occupied by only one or two people and used smaller tables so that more could sit outside. UPDATE: I just received a very nice note from the owner saying that they are working on their speed and efficiency. Great to hear and I wish them well! They could turn over many more tables and serve more people that way. Food and beer: 4.5-5 stars. Service is friendly but slow: 3 stars. We keep coming back for brunch but you have to go into it knowing you'll wait an hour to get your food, you'll never get a refill, and you'll have track down the server yourself if you need something.
