This is my 4th time back to this spot. Their food is so fresh and tasty and service is amazing. It's BYOB which is fine either way for me but important to note so you're prepared but no worries the package store is on the same end block. The view of the river from their small but comfortable dinning area is lovely. It's worth spending some extra time and not rushing. They definitely do a big take out business in the area. Dinning doesn't seem as common but it's super pleasant. The people are so kind and let us stay for literally 3 and a half hours. We felt like we were in Europe where they feel like it's rude to rush you away. Perfect for catching up with friends. They were friendly, which was nice. But my Pad Thai was so salty it was almost inedible. I envioned taking it home and rinsing it in a colander. I was disappointed. Plus, the entree prices were really high. The diner at the next table said she had ordered her meal with "no spice" and it was riddled with red pepper flakes. I upgraded for crispy chicken and it was delicious. We also got spring rolls and golden bags. Everything was tasty. We wanted to give this restaurant a try. After reading the numerous review we finally ordered. We ordered pineapple fried rice, tom yam seafood, yum nuah( beef salad) and pad see-eww. The beef was very tough and the sauce that was on it was strange. I've had this salad at other Thai restaurant and it was so much better. I really tried to finished it but couldn't bring myself to because it was a strange flavor I can't describe. I threw it out. Tom Yum tasted like I was eating dessert, yes it was that sweet. I took one spoonful and threw the rest out. Pad See-eww( fried rice noodles) was also sweet. Tried the pineapple fried rice and would not ever order it again, so much for being adventurous. Overall, we did not like any of the food we order. Majority of the food ended up in the trash. It was not good at all. What a waste of money! Would never order again as I don't want to waste money on food that looks good but does not taste good. read more

Unfortunately, I had high hopes for this place. I'm giving it three stars because of the kind service. The waitress, who I believe was also the chef and the owner, had a very positive and upbeat attitude. That's kind of where it ends. We were seated in a cold and dark corner of this small establishment. I'm not kidding when I say that we were seated and the ONLY table where the light in the lantern was broken. But we were also the only people there, so their insistence on seating us there was bizarre, to say the least. Took them about ten minutes to take our order. Four dishes; Two Pad Thai, One Yellow Curry, and My go-to Thai dish, Drunken Noodles. The sole worker there (I'll give her slack because she was the only person) took a VERY long time to make our food. When it finally got to our table, my Drunken Noodles were lukewarm; no steam on it or anything. The noodles were also cut bizarrely into small squares. I ordered it with beef, which was dry and chewy. It also desperately needed the classic Drunken Noodle Sauce that gives the dish its richness. It seemed to be a mix of fresh and frozen veggies (baby corn was in the dish, which was very mushy), so the textures were all over the place. I did not sample anyone else's food, but nobody was quick to point out how great the food was. A poor first impression for this place. Our server did not return to refill waters or ask how the food was. We finished our meals and waited another twenty minutes for the check (keeping in mind, still, that we were the only customers there). I'm holding out hope that this was an off-night. Given it's history on Broad Street, I'm very surprised by the service. read more

I used to love this place. Ever since the new owners took over everything they make is super spicy. Regular old pad Thai? Spicy. Pad see ew? Spicy. NEVER have either of these dishes been spicy. I can't eat spicy food. So if you love spicy food, then maybe you'll love this place. I am giving them two stars because a couple of menu items remain the same, the mango sticky rice and dumplings are still good. But I won't be ordering from here any more. read more

I just found out from the owner today that this is her last day open for Rim Nahm. I am incredibly sad to see this Pawtuxet Village gem disappear. I have been enjoying her fantastic cooking for the past 11 years and will sorely miss it. The current economic situation is the reason for her closing and it's a great loss for her as well as to our neighborhood. We called ahead to ask if they had two high chairs because we have twins. The woman said they did. When we arrived she said, "sorry we seated more people since you called and we don't have any tables where we can sit two high chairs". Understandable...except there were two clearly visible four tops that would accommodate high chairs. Not blocking aisle or any other safety issue (I used to be a server and know what to look for). So, she says you could just order food to go. Annoyed but knowing that we already promised noodles to our two hungry little ones we ordered and went on our way to the park down the street. The food really wasn't that good, they didn't give us any paper plates knowing that we had to eat at the park because we discussed in front of her and quite frankly she was just rude. I would never support this business again. If you can't accommodate children you should be up front and honest and stop wasting people's time. Taking our twins out is not something we do often and we are always courteous and call ahead before going to a new place. The very least you can do as a host is not make up lies because you are too lazy to deal with children!!! Not family friendly and food was avg to below avg in quality and flavor. (and at a great price, ~$9) The restaurant is cute and cozy- it wasn't too crowded when we went (7pm, Saturday) but I could see how it could quickly get that way. I'd call ahead just in case (they take reservations). Our party of 4 was attended to quickly and the meals took a bit of time- but do remember that all their dishes are made from scratch and as the menu says "time is an ally". I went there with three other friends and the place was not very crowded...only two tables....we got seated and I ordered the Mango Fried rice, I asked for light oli and light sauce...The dish came light and not greasy at all. The other dish I tried was very oily and very dark (too much sauce)...I am glad I asked for a ligher version. The food is OK, the service is a bit slow, but the food is passable. I would still choose Apsara or Pakarang in the area, but a good choice in Pawtuxet Village. read more

What a delight. We stumbled upon this place as a result of getting lost, being very hungry, and wanting to sit outside in the sun on a beautiful May day. My hubby noticed a small sign that said outdoor seating so we hung a left into Rim Nahm. At first sight, it's small and dim. Owner says it gets busy around 7pm for takeout orders. These people have probably never seen the back deck. Nestled past the indoor dining area on an iron deck is a wrap around balcony (as narrow as a firescape). At the far end overlooking the water and boats is one small iron table and two chairs. A perfect, exclusive little spot perfect for our Sunday lunch. We ordered pad see eew, fresh spring rolls, and shrimp rolls. We drank soda water and lemon. Affordable, fresh, and yummy. Happy to return. read more

Rim Nahm is good Tahi food. Have I had better? Yes. But we also experienced Rim Nahm during a global pandemic, so it was only the owner and a chef in the restaurant. Would it have been better if the full staff were there? Probably. The owner was very sweet. We've returned twice and each time she is incredibly nice. However, the last time we ordered takeout and waited a good hour for our food. This wasn't even on a weekend. Only to get our food and it wasn't that flavorful at all. Specifically the pad thai. I give Rim Nahm an optimistic 3! I love many things about this restaurant. The details show the owners care very much about this place. The table clothes are pretty and colorful. The view of the water is spectacular. The little iron tables and chairs outdoors are cute and lovely (tip: 2 per table, 2 tables total outside, very small). The waitress was so friendly and attentive. This place is also BYOB! There's a liquor store across the street in case you forget. The 3 is solely based off of the one meal I have had here during my first try: the vegetable tofu pad Thai. The tofu seemed a little old and too deep fried. Some of the zucchini seemed a little odd in flavor. And I've been to so many Thai restaurants and they add a good amount of peanut sauce/peanuts. This take on this recipe was a few sprinkled peanuts, but no peanut in the sauce. I think it was a traditional fish sauce. It wasn't my cup of tea, but that's just my particular taste. If I rated this restaurant solely on location and view, it would receive a 5! I love that it's nestled right in the east side of Cranston overlooking the Pawtuxet. Dining inside or on their little deck (very narrow.... Think fire escape?), is not to be missed! It's a unique spot. I was craving papaya salad and this joint didn't disappoint! They offer a heat scale; anyone that eats Thai food knows this is a necessity. I ordered a 3 (mouth explosion) out of 4 (love spicy) and it was exactly what I wanted. I also tried an appetizer platter; it had NINE different items for 12.95 which I thought was a steal. Everything was great...and it came with nime chow which is also one of my absolute favorite foods. Everything was cooked well, nothing tasted the same as the next item and the prices were super reasonable I ordered through DoorDash and got free delivery which was also a plus. This would have been a five star review for the food and location alone, but... um... well, I'll get to that. First, food. I have a friend whose family lives around the corner, and he says that the mango curry here is what converted him to Thai food. That's something of a ringing endorsement. When we were there, unsurprisingly, that's what he ordered. I would have been a convert too. Smooth, tangy, coconut-milk-rich broth on the mango curry, just perfectly done mango, crunchy vegetables. Yeah, perfect. I got the pad see-ew, a benchmark for me, and it was AMAZING. Again, perfectly cooked vegetables, excellent spicing, just right. In addition to the amazing noodles, we got some tasty apps and Thai iced tea, all for a very reasonable price. It was torrentially pouring when we were there, so I didn't get to experience their cute little outdoor seating area, but it did LOOK very nice, and I hope to go back again and try it out. But remember I said it wasn't quite a 5? Here's the catch: there was a large black ant in my noodles. I found it when I'd almost finished, and the noodles tasted fantastic anyway, but ant. I finally visited Rim Nahm after hearing my friend rave about it for the past year or so. I knew it was a BYOB Thai restaurant and I didn't have high hopes for the ambiance factor. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked to the back of the restaurant to a cute little room overlooking the Pawtuxet River. I got the Won ton soup to start...it had a little too much cilantro for my taste, but it was hot and dumplings were tasty. The mango fried rice was heavenly. It was nice and light with a good combination of raisins, shrimp and cashews. The drunken noodles with chicken had a nice spice to them. Being a huge fan of sweet potatoes, my favorite entree dish was the Massaman Curry. To summarize, all of the food was hot and extremely fresh. It all tasted fairly light and everything was nicely spiced and flavorful. Our waitress was a sweetheart and kept our waters refilled. I'm definitely planning a trip back with my hubby. read more

The Drunken Noodle has been a staple of my diet since I moved back to RI. It's one of the only Thai dishes around that satisfies my need for burning nostrils. It's basily and burns with flavor! For an app I usually do the scallion cakes... something light and soft to absorb the fire I am about to put inside myself. The view of the Pawtuxet river flowing into the bay is priceless. The deck only accommodates two two-tops, it's a great place for some one-on-one, or one-on-two, but not more then one-on-three. Recently visited and remembered why this has always been one of my favorite spots in the village! Oh yeah- It's BYOB- so save some cash and grab some bombah's on the way in. I'm always on the lookout for a restaurant that delivers consistently good value and makes me feel like I am truly welcome. It's why I like neighborhood Mom & Pop's and NEVER patronize the national chains. When the owner is serving you or is in the kitchen, you know you're going to get their best shot. Here the meal is prepared not according to a formula disseminated from a corporate office, rather handed (not written) down from mother to daughter, father to son. Rim Nahm is such a place. First a word about proximity. It is nestled in Pawtuxet Village, right on the bridge overlooking the cove and its marina. Nice. The view from your table is good, not great, but it beats looking out a window at Staples' dumpster. Another stroke of genius is the liquor store right next door... as a BYOB that means a slice of convenience with your value, sir. You can order your meal and run next store to select the perfect accompaniment AFTER your decision's been made. Lastly, when you leave, walk out the door, turn right and there's an ice cream shop. The service is good. Vyvy (our server) was lovely but got stretched a little thin as the place filled up. No matter; when you finally get your check the bottom line will make you smile. Very fair prices, perfect (for me) serving size, you leave Rim Nahm neither too heavy in the gut nor too light in the pocket. But the food is the story. As a cook myself (note the lack of the word "chef") I like to experience cuisine I can't make at home... and I would never attempt Thai food like this at home. Fresh ingredients, prepared over your shoulder in a small but efficient kitchen and each course is served up in perfect cadence. I've four dishes and each has been excellent. I particularly admire the lightness and delicate hand applied to the sauces. They complement the core, unlike many Asian spots who use sauces as masking agents. I recommend Rim Nahm and look forward to returning to my new favorite Thai haunt. P.S: If you haven't experienced Pawtuxet Village in a while, its worth the trip. Fresh and Flavorful! The food is fantastic and so is the view! I've eaten here a handful of times and it seems to me that the portions are now larger than they were a year ago. Even though the prices have been raised a bit that's fine with me. Only inherent problem here is the size. It seems to me that the reason they only have one waitress is because of the small size of the place. During the busiest times she is spread to thin doing absolutely EVERYTHING besides cooking. Too much for one person and the level of service is compromised. For example: You may receive your appetizer and meal at the same time and wait longer than you should for both. (that's what happened to us.) The food is so good that I believe it's well worth the wait! Next time we will bring our own alcohol and probably not notice the wait. read more

It boasts a water view (meaning of the name), which it does have, but be forewarned that the decor and ambiance are very CASUAL. The Huz and I decided to head over to Rim Nahm after saying we were going to try it for quite some time. We both ordered the Hot and Sour soup (he got the shrimp, I got the chicken). When it arrived it tasted like tomato basil soup with a touch of lime. It wasn't unpleasant, just unexpected. We've had this soup at many places and it never really had this flavor. For the entree's I got the Drunken Noodles with chicken and the Mr. went for the beef salad. I love spicy food so I was really looking forward to giving these a try. Unfortunately the small portion of noodles was a big bland tan pile in the middle of a small plate. Even adding crushed chili's didn't help this one out. The Mr said the beef salad was ok but nothing to write home about. Positive points: Service was attentive and pleasant. When we walked in, I was a bit hesitant, as it looked like a little dive, but I'm glad we decided to be brave and go in. The waitress was very sweet, and the food was very good. We had the chicken satay, pad thai, some sort of pork dish with ginger, which was delicious, and an unusual version of Tom Yum soup, and summer rolls. All of these were different than other versions of the same dishes I've had elsewhere, but they were still good. The Pad Thai didn't have much in the way of peanuts or any sauce on the side, but it was good. The summer rolls were good, but I wasn't a huge fan of the thick hoisin type of sauce that was served with it, I'm used to a very light, clear, sauce. But the BYOB factor was definitely great, and the service was nice, we would definitely go back :) read more
